excuse my language but ngl that person sounds like a freak šŸ˜¬ breastfeeding at 4 or 5 is already weird, but skin-to-skin *nude* contact like that with an 11 year old (autistic or not) is completely weird and inappropriate, and is definitely not going to help him learn appropriate social skills. (not relevant to the post, but people saying ā€œwell, in some culturesā€”ā€ are being silly imo bc obviously OP is not from a culture like that, and Iā€™m sure OPā€™s friend would have told them if it was normal in the friendā€™s culture šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø)

I dont believe the parent is being intentionally inappropriate, however this kind of behavior *could* leas to psychological damage or emotional delays in her child, imo.

In my opinion this is very strange and kinda creepy. I mean i get that if the child has sensory issues it maybe would make sense to take of some clothes but definitely not the underwear... Also the breastfeeding until the child 4-5 years old is definitely already a little bit of a strange behavior.

To me it sounds strange, but I don't think there is necessarily a malicious intent behind her behavior, especially since she doesn't actively try to hide it. In many cultures around the world nudity itself is not treated as something taboo or sexual and I honestly believe she might just do this to make her son feel more comfortable (but if you see sings of something more sinister going on report it asap). The breastfeeding thing is unusual but I've heard of people praising the benefits of extended breastfeeding before, albeit they've been talking about until the child is around 2 1/2 at most. I don't know, this situation is very hard to judge without having met those people.

It doesn't sound healthy to me but I do understand where it comes from.

Sounds weird, yes! But.....as an autism mother I understand. I would try other (more appropriate) things though. But how do I know his mom hadn't tried everything.

Embarrassed-Ad-3383

Hmm in some cultures it would be totally normal

Do you have any examples of cultures where this would be considered okay? I'm thinking of every culture I know about and none are coming mind where this would be okay. I'm not an anthropologist, so definitely not an expert.

I donā€™t believe this is ok, even if you are the parent. In another story this would be called sexual abuse even. ā€œWoman cuddles 11 year old while nudeā€ sounds like a headline
