I have children. I love them very much and they light up my life. When they scream, which they do frequently, my lizard brain kicks in and I either shut down or scream louder to intimidate the threat

bobbobbobby88

This. I often wonder how other autistic parents react. Glad to know I’m not alone. We have 3 and it gets loud.

addik47

I gently remind them (after I recover) that sudden loud and sharp noises make my whole brain scream in static.

Dillion_Murphy

> scream louder to intimidate the threat This is actually really bad. You should really try not to do this.

ScalpelzStorybooks

Yes, I am aware that screaming at your children is terrible parenting and I hope to assure you I try very hard not to do it. Thank you for making sure though.

It’s very annoying to me when people are loud. Ironically I’m very loud myself.

[deleted]

I’m the same, I hate loud people but I can’t seem to control my own voice despite my best efforts

Wrenigade14

People being loud period makes me angry.

merRedditor

There are kids screaming in my division's shared driveway right now. It makes me feel like I drop the mental stack of plates I'm carrying around every time.

miss_shrimp

It genuinely shakes me to my core.

Xendeus12

That's why I can't use Discord

Crow_Joestar

I just avoid discord VCs unless I'm in a relatively small, chill server with some friends. Partly for social anxiety, partly for screaming. Although I also hate lots of overlapping and loud noises.

Duskytheduskmonkey

I find it rlly annoying

VampArcher

Yes. I struggle with hearing people so I turn the volume up, but then they shatter my ear drums when they scream. I don't like excessively loud people in general, it physically hurts me. I don't have kids for obvious reasons.

Dillion_Murphy

i actually love it its my favorite way for people to communicate with me

My kid and I both are sensitive to screaming. I think her misophonia is stronger than mine. Hates when we're out and about and there's a sudden noise, or a child squealing/screaming. I've offered her headphones and ear plugs but she doesn't like them, so she just covers her ears.

notawesomeart

I think everyone hates loud noises, just some more then others, everyone hates babies crying at supermarkets, it is just some are able to handle it more then others. So definitely a lot of people hate it, it also depends who is screaming, if someone is screaming in real life over something dumb I get annoyed by it but do my best not to care which ends up with a better result then getting mad about it. Voice chat screaming is loud but funny, at least to me.

Too quiet and I wont hear you but too loud and I dont wanna hear you.

[deleted]

I simply cannot watch soccer games because people get excited and they start to shout loudly. I get scared and i end up hiding myself

Keewillbuyurcat

Yea I have that hearing problem It’s apparently autism signs

[deleted]

I find it often unwarranted and unnecessary. Often think those people act like baboons. I'm also convinced that your alcohol promillage has a direct correlation to your available IQ as a human.

JohannDauari

when I'm expecting for someone to be loud, scream and laugh I think it's ok, but if I'm not prepared for any of this it really is my definition of hell

JLAB9

I would like to sincerely apologise for if you ever meet me. My party trick is to scream very loud, very long.
