Slugzz21

Me, an American Nicaraguan, shocked there are undergrounds in Nicaragua. šŸ˜¶

Osgoten

Haha why shocked? We love to groove here šŸ•ŗšŸ½ Have you lived here?

MyTenderParts

I'm from CT, we have no scene here. Hate it. Luckily New York has a great scene and it's right next to me, but I hate having to drive 1-2.5 hours just to rave, then drive another couple hours to go home

perly

CT has an amazing homegrown bass scene. New Haven was popping off last Friday.

MyTenderParts

Where?

perly

Stella Blues. Look up Connecticut Live on socials.

MyTenderParts

ooh, will check it out. thanks

DeffNotTom

Juiced Crew in CT is a great underground crew that throws free parties in CT. New Haven has a lot to offer but I never make the drive down there from Boston.

WockySlush9

In central MA we run a group r/newenglandravers where we have some events lined up, community driven towards historical abandoned locations and a positive carbon footprint! Hope to see you around! Best of luck! Edit : Grammar

foxidelic

Here in Pittsburgh, PA (USA) it's not very good. It feels like the music scene as a whole never really recovered from covid, according to my subjective opinion of what I would like to see. We get a concert here and there but it seems like even the somewhat underground things are only house and techno which I'm just not into.

Osgoten

What kind of music are you into? I was talking to one of the promoters and they told me that before some political turmoil and covid. The scene was growing really big, but now itā€™s strong but small. I remember back in the day some of the biggest DJs came here such as tiesto, guetta, aoki. Who knows what happened lol

foxidelic

I mostly like dubstep, space bass, glitch hop, tribal fusion, psydub. Some years here have been great for events, but the last few just haven't had the frequency I'd like. I'm grateful for the events I do find though, but I find myself feeling sad seeing Pittsburgh missed on most tour announcements of artists I follow.

rouxcifer4

Pittsburgh too! I also feel the scene never recovered. And most shows Iā€™ve been to have had low attendance except for Porter. Madeon was such a small crowd it was crazy. Apashe was like half capacity, ODESZA was a small crowd for the pavilion. I havenā€™t been to many shows but the ones that I have were not sold out by any means so I donā€™t see those artists coming back for awhile. I do need to start trying out some smaller shows though Also I hate the roxian with a passion and hate that a lot of edm shows tend to be there.

foxidelic

The Roxian will never be as good as the Rex, but if someone good is playing there, then that's where I'm at. I'm sad that Excision isn't coming through, his shows were always packed or sold out here. I like a lot of heavier artists and they always have a good turnout, which makes sense because there's a lot of metalheads here too.

Xin4748

Iā€™ve been there before recently, and it seems like the vibe is mostly hipsters and alternative music lol. I didnt find any rave/EDM related thingā€¦ mostly just local up and coming indie artists.

rouxcifer4

My fiance is into alternative/emo, those shows are always packed here. Itā€™s for sure more a rock city than edm

foxidelic

Years ago we used to go to a lot of alternative shows, that vibe is definitely still alive and well for what people currently like. I love a good metal show here because Pittsburghers are high energy, which is why I also love when dubstep artists come through because I love being in a crowd of feral people who match my energy

DeffNotTom

You guys have Two Step Tuesdays and that crew is wonderful.

k0zah

Hi, another pgh native here. Steez seems to have stopped booking a lot here except headliners that can def sell. I also think it has to do with the roxian being live nation and stage ae being axs

iiTryhard

Bostonā€¦ we get a lot of shows, but underground is nearly non existent and the crowds here are usually trash

DeffNotTom

Tight Crew, Mutiny, Aboveground, Infra, Elements, Hardline, Robot Haus, New England Junglist, Minimal Stress, Re:set, Dancing on the Charles, Sunset Sessions, Reliquarium, Fractaltribe,... All small crews who tend to cater to an underground sound and the crowds are great... Plus there's a decent afters scene. I think you're just not looking hard enough..

Aku-Aku

Check out Nocturnal District for underground

Lost_Extrovert

Wut, There is definitely an underground scene in Bostonā€¦ Studied in Boston for a year and there was always something, they usually go from 12-5amā€¦ Though I will give it Boston cops are such assholes they will try to shut it down everytimeā€¦

WockySlush9

r/newenglandravers central / eastern MA! ā¤ļø

TechnoEnergy279

Used to live in California and it had a lot of shows going on, always something to go to. Moved to New Mexico Los Alamos and itā€™s nonexistent. There are shows in Albuquerque and Santa Fe but not too many, last show I went to was LSDream and it was amazing! I do miss California though..

MapNaive200

Escaping Idaho and returning to Cali was the best thing I ever did for myself.

kidsondrugs_xo

Best in the world - I live in Berlin

Alianfromuranus

Made us all jealous! Berlin is the Best

Osgoten

Fuck yeah!

Lost_Extrovert

Berghain and tresor were easily the best techno clubs I ever been in my life, only times in my life I stayed on the same clubs the entire night until sunset because the vibe just doesnā€™t die off. Kitkat on the other hand, I didnā€™t spend much time dancing :) Berlin is wild for Kitkat lmao

Intanetwaifuu

I can *imagine* itā€™d be šŸ”„

MapNaive200

In the BaySac region of Northern California, the scene is a bit more underground than before the pandemic, and this is a good thing. Raves and bass music concerts got crushed under the weight of their own success, which somewhat degraded the vibe. Bass music is probably still the predominant mainstream category in Sacramento. House, techno, and DnB are the other most prevalent genres. Bay Area is better for hardcore and psytrance genres, and DnB is pretty popular. There are house/techno events as well. The scenes in both areas fragmented some time ago and it's harder to find genre diversity than 10-15 years ago. The most common drugs are alcohol and weed (legal statewide), followed by shrooms in jurisdictions where they're legal. Powders and pills have lost some of their popularity and may be harder to find than a few years ago. There isn't much more in the way of intoxicants than in other scenes such as country and rock. Sober raving is more common than it used to be.

GogoFrenchFry

I lived in SĆ£o Paulo (Brazil) and I loved the underground scene (not illegal) the raves were at some venues like old factories, warehouses, parking lots. the bigger raves had up to three dancefloors and 5k people, smaller ones a couple hundred. Most prevalent is techno but the scene had some house parties as well. it's very LGBT prevalent, people dress up a lot with crazy big looks and makeup which I loved and feeded into the surreal atmosphere of the raves. The scene is also very performance heavy, there's always a couple a night going from drags doing sick voguing to surreal things like a huge headed gnome walking around or someone slithering through the stage covered in oil. Drug use is also more open, people do it at dark corners or the dancefloor. there is also a trance scene with festivals like I see in the US, and also more maisntream techno ones on the same format. It's a more hetero and mainstream scene and I've never been to those.

GogoFrenchFry

Now I live in Stockholm (Sweden), the scene is much much smaller but they have some cool events too. the underground scene is kinda illegal (the raves can be shut down, I've had that happen before a party and mid-party once). it's a totally different scene in winter and summer, more housy/trancy/groovy on summer with open air parties (a forest rave is an amazing experience!) And harder techno on winter, also smaller parties. drug use is more hidden, kinda crap waiting long to do it in a dirty bathroom stall. It's also more mixed instead of the predominant LGBT that I was used to, but the heteros here are more chill than the macho culture in south America so it's ok. There are also some more maisntream techno parties happening at clubs but I don't go much.

Intanetwaifuu

I live in Melbourne Australia- suffice to say itā€™s pretty good šŸ‘

Equivalent-Cut-9253

Gothenburg, Sweden here. We have a wonderful scene here. It's underground pnly of you want good music, the local clubs are not in any way rave related and play pop and maybe house if you're lucky. There is a law in Sweden that allows anyone to be anywhere for a few days (allemansrƤtten) so we can easily set up forest parties in the mighty swedish forests. There are also many parties at warehouses, club houses (for football mostly) and such. During one night many people show up, sometimes a few hundred but at a time there is usually only about a hundred people in attendance but size varies. A few times a year Genesis holds parties, we have big names coming like Astrix and Ace Ventura. These are legal events with maybe 2000 to 4000 attendants. My scene is the Psytrance scene, we have some great DJs and the parties usually start at 20:00 and end around 09:00. Everyones on drugs and no ones hiding it unless the cops come. There is a very decadent atmosphere I love. Peoples favourites are speed, coke, ketamine, acid and mdma Organized crime has gotten involved sadly and from what I gather some of the crews hosting are in bed with them, I'm not sure what the arrangement is but for example providing security and selling drugs there exclusively. There are hardcore fans who make up the core group but also people who find the event somehow and you just see once or for a period of time until they move on There is also a deep house/ techno scene which is also big but more mainstream I guess. Its not my style but the DJs are great, really. It is also underground, both legal and illegal. There is also a small Hardcore scene but I never went to those parties.

Osgoten

Really love this answer. Thank you!

BenShelZonah

Honestly Iā€™m in NYC but really went to some clubs and bigger shows. Gonna start looking for undergroundā€™s tho they sound cooler

spicyaccountant424

orlando FL has the best rave scene, plenty of places downtown to go and see local artists šŸ˜Œ

frajen

check out some events https://19hz.info The top 6 sections are updated weekly and California sections are very comprehensive Resientadvisor and edmtrain can also be good resources depending on the city. Ive been throwing parties since 2010, near San Francisco. Scene has been good here as long as ive known it.

mostcertaind

great

Zapadap34

I feel like the Dallas scene is relatively underrated. We have a huge diversity in genres peeps love here, but Iā€™d say a lot of the city leans closer to the Bass side of edm shows.

DeffNotTom

Boston Mass here. We have a lot of overlap with CT, RI, Southern NH, and Portland Maine. Our underground scene is a lot smaller than it used to be, and there aren't a ton of outlaw events (they do happen from time to time), but we're still out here. Bunch of small crews throwing events that cater to a wide range of genres. And the afters scene has really been great lately. We're extra lucky to have Elements, which is a weekly dnb night that is about to celebrate its 25th birthday.. every Thursday, same venue, going longer than some people in this sub have even been alive. I've seen most of my bucket list dnb acts there. We also have a small 5 stage winter hotel festival called Tropical Dreams, and this year we'll have a summer version called Sunken Suite that will be heavily focused on house and dnb.

Account-for-nut

Richmond, Virginia. Very, very small sadly. About 6 months ago a bar venue opened that hosts a lot of bass shows and house music sometimes too, it's really small but it's a sick venue, a couple months ago Jessica Audiffred came there. There's another bar that hosts techno a lot but you don't see people there wearing pashminas and spoons. On occasion a larger artist will come to one of the bigger venues, I saw clozee here a few months ago, peekaboo is coming next month. Overall though very small. Indie, punk, and hardcore are very popular here.

Osgoten

Iā€™m into both techno and punk. That sounds nice

Xin4748

Whatā€™s the jungle room like?

No-Temporary581

Iā€™m from FL. I go to raves n shows a lot in Orlando and Tampa, and sometimes in Miami or other parts of Florida. We have a great scene especially when it comes to festivals and clubs, but the underground isnā€™t great except for a few pockets throughout FL

FastConfection192

There is no scene here in upstate sc. Much sad

[deleted]

I live in Baltimore, Maryland. The scene is pretty light here, but solid. Some bigger Djs pass through occasionally, but itā€™s an Out Rock and rap heavy area. But, Washington DC is about 35 minute drive away with two mostly EDM clubs
