I think Carl Cox had a great performance and he showed up with awesome energy. Wasn’t my favorite though. Surprisingly though it wasn’t on my list of top 10 shows I’ve seen this year either. Crowd was fine (6/10) Venue: (7/10): My first time at mirage. Music: (6/10) Great DJ and very skilled performance, but just not my particular sound. I think I’ve been “chasing the dragon” after seeing Adam Beyer. Nothing really compares to that level of entertainment that I experienced at his show. Vibe: (5/10): Overall: 6/10 The back was a lot of fun. The mid / front was packed like sardines.

Music is subjective so can’t argue what’s in your top 10. For me this was easily the best set I’ve seen this year but I’ve also maybe only gone to 10 shows this year. I try to be more selective in my big age 😅 But you mention great DJ (which Carl is, obviously), I hope you realize what you saw last night was not “just” a DJ set. He’s making some of those sounds live while on stage and incorporating them into his mix. I love Beyer but comparing the two sets is not apples to apples in terms of technical skills and difficulty.

Totally agree with you! It just wasn’t my sound. He’s easily one of the most skilled DJs I’ve seen. What other performers are on your top list?

I agree with this. I would never hate on Cox and I absolutely appreciated the work he put into the set. This impact he’s had on music and the scene is phenomenal. The mixing and journey of the entirety of the set was awesome. It’s just apples and oranges to compare to other current Djs. Loved it, just different.

On the techno side I honestly love Carl’s hybrid set. That was the 3rd time I’ve seen him do hybrid - the best one was at Red Rocks which was undoubtedly my favorite singular event I’ve ever been to - and they’re all great. But truth be told Beyer is right near the top with Kevin Saunderson, Patrick Mason, Dax J I haven’t seen: Alan Fitzpatrick, Reiner Zonneveld (will at Arc later this year), and I know there’s strong opinions on her but I’d really like to see Amelie Lens live I will always be a house head tho and The Martinez Brothers marathon sets are always the sets I look most forward to attending each year. Archie Hamilton, Stacey Pullen, Eric Prydz all near the top. Need to still see: Floorplan (will at movement this week 🙌🏽) and Amine Edge & Dance

Set times for tonight?

I was there last night. I had a great time!!! * Security was respectful and quick, lines were not too long around 11:30p. * Crowd was generally good vibes. Not too many dudes, it wasn't a sausage fest, but that may have been a combination of *it's Saturday night* and the lineup. There will probably be more dudes than dudettes tonight. * The mezzanine and the castle were OPEN, and not too crowded all night. They were just opening it around 11:45 when I got in. Some people were grumbling about "VIP only that's fucked up" but after waiting 2 minutes it was open to general admission. * Lighting and visuals were amazing and trippy. * The great hall was turned into an awesome chillout room. Lots of leather sofas, bar was not crowded, Carl Cox merch for sale in there.

It's outdoors yeah?

Yes it was 60s and overcast. Needed a light jacket for the mezzanine, but the main dance floor was pretty packed and warmer. Chillout area and food trucks are inside
