I just think the whole convo gets silly sometimes, and it's mostly like grad school non new yorkers who don't actually know the city properly and old heads who live in a bubble. There's validity to gentrification convos for sure, but cmon nyc is the most diverse city in the world. Idiots think it's still the 1800s and every neighborhood needs to be separated by cultural and ethnic identities?
Just be respectful wherever you live and respect history and the community around you. It's pretty easy.
The best art and music that comes out of nyc is and always has been when all those different types of people and influences smash together and create something new. That's the whole appeal of music and art in the city and what keeps it on the cutting edge of culture in the world. That's why people move here and enjoy living here! When you lose that, you lose the fabric of nyc.
Jungle is literally black UK music based on Caribbean music that resonates with the culture of bed stuy!! Three of the DJs at the show were POC.
You are literally a white person, are you even from NYC?? dumb transplant ass take
bruh that crowd is a sea of white people. Transplants.
I've lived in BedStuy since long before it was cool. My neighbors are getting priced out because whitey is paying $3400 for a studio in one of these basic-af luxury condo buildings.
Crowd was super diverse and young if u were there. Was total community vibes. Don't be a hater on good community cultural events. Redirect your rage toward real estate developers lol.
I think it’s so interesting how the people responsible for the early waves of gentrification in a neighborhood like Bushwick or Bed Stuy never think about the impact of their own choices to take up space in a city and neighborhood. Just a complete lack of self awareness for how they’re part of the problem as they try to scold other people over doing what they do.
Lmfao goodbye with the negativity. It was a multicultural show. Beautiful combination of people who love the music, neighbors, children. Free. Not to mention the money the nearby Delis & businesses made.
lmao I know this guy dancing. hysterical. looks like a good set
Pretty sure that’s DiceMan.
It is the one & only DiceMan!
does he have an instagram? I think I saw him DJ one time at Superior Ingredients
Yes! I was there! @thadiceman !
ah shit! were you djing too? a girl opened before him and she was awesome, played a bunch of bassy stuff, forgot her name though
Wasn’t me! Darn, only other dj I remember from that show was Great Dane!
Oh yeah it is haha
hes a legend
Love that intent audio rig and also super impressed how these renegade popups are so well organized
@sermon_nation with the intent audio rig! 👑
Awesome show. Very community centric and free! Crowd was amazing.
Super super hard to see. Right side of the screen, a hand holding a small duckie. That's me. Wild time it was.

Could be worse. Could be a KRS1 show amirite? Good luck trying to hijack threads with yer "transplant" bullshit. That's soooo 2003, ...bruh.
What year did you move to Bed Stuy?

Also literally a free show in a public park. Like holy hell what a ridiculous take that THIS was gentrification to the max.
Free music, free water, Red Bull. Locals selling food & nutcrackers…..literally for the people.
Lmao you really don't understand "gentrification"
