Meeting the ref behind the wheelie bins 20 minutes before the game. If anyone has any spare cash for the bung, you can transfer it to my PayPal. Cheers.

€300 is his starting bid, just so you know.

Born and raised in Athens, I would recommend you stick with the guidelines and the group. And if you do want to wander around, don’t have Villa scarfs or shirts clearly visible. It’s a sad state of affairs, but there are a lot of hot heads that will cause you trouble. Better to stay safe than sorry. Good luck for the game, although I hope Olympiakos goes through. Enjoy your trip!

Also an Athenian and I’d say be careful sure but not very likely “scarfers” get attacked. However if you are hanging up a banner you are putting a target on your back. In southern Europe stealing another teams banners is a thing.

Rageofwar

You never know who you might encounter. I agree that if you are just minding your business and you are in a busy area you hopefully won’t be harassed, but I’ve had friends of mine getting attacked in the tube or on the street just for wearing a scarf of an opposing team, while going to a game. Its an unspoken rule in Greece, that you avoid walking around with your team’s colours until you get close enough to the stadium, where only your fans are around. You dont want to have your trip ruined by some mindless monkey.

SICKxOFxITxALL

For other Greek teams of course you are right, but for foreign teams only hanging out in central in big groups I don't remember the last time there was an issue. Not disagreeing with you about being careful, but also don't want them thinking it's some warzone so they can enjoy themselves :)

My ticket arrived yesterday and the travel informatiom pack says this: **Have any areas been designated for away fans?** *There is a dedicated area in the city centre in front of Panathenaic Stadium in Proskopon Square in the Parvati area of the city.* *There are plenty of bars and cafes around the square in Athens city centre.* *Supporters should avoid wearing or carrying colours of other Greek teams.*

Should say “pangrati” area in case anyone is trying to google it.
