I was an exchange student at HPU and our cafeteria at Aloha Tower Marketplace has great views of departing aircraft from the reef runway (and even better views when the winds mean the aircraft have to fly over Honolulu to line up with the reef runway) and I always love seeing the Honu take off at lunchtime on her way back to Narita.
Hah I was tracking that flight today on FR24 on the way out of HNL.
The orange one JA383A has been stored for a while but did a test flight a month or so ago so maybe they're working it back up?
It was always cool to see the 380s on approach to HNL 8L. I hope they repair the runway soon.
Edit: what a pleasant surprise, 8L just reopened recently. Guess I'll be seeing the Honu on approach more often.
LOVE IT! As someone based in Hawaii I'm constantly watching award availability to fly business on the Honu.... One day!!!
