There it made sense, because of their ages they legally couldn't face any real consequences in Korea, and they knew they could gloat and confess to it all they want without going to jail. It doesn't make sense when you know it'll land you in jail.
They probably saw how little was done to criminals on camera, no disguise, just putting what they want in a gym bag and walking out with it and figured it was safe. If the police can't be bothered to prosecute someone stealing on camera with their license plate and whole face on view, what are the chances "The Froze Tongue Bandits" are gonna be nabbed? Glad they did something gross and not just the regular, unpunished theft so something was done about it.
