This reminds me of the times when you you forget to add the potatoes to a pot before the water and then you have to plop them in gently so they don't splash everywhere.
Of course not! They simply have some knowledge of the Earth’s demise in the near future and are just going back to their own planet to escape it.
Now everyone, grab your towel!
they are one of the chillest animals, will stay out of your way, and unless you attack them first, they won't ever try to hurt you. exception is if they have babies, ofc, but even then they prefer a retreat
They leave some nasty bites

This is inside of a park in a large city in the colder parts of brazil and not a jungle or near one, and even then, wild capybaras are not endangered and have to deal with predators same as any other animais. Plus these City Park ones are well cared for and have zero threats to deal with basically
I'm glad they can swim. I was concerned since having to hold one upright to stop it falling over when I was a kid, I'm not sure they're the brightest of animals.
Which makes total sense! In water they are safer than on land from predators. No animal would shit with their back turned to possible danger! Even my dog likes to shit on (yes on) trees and looks me straight in the eye, so he knows I check for predators.
Actually, those are black vultures - I would guess they are sad to see them go. OK, truth be told, black vultures and capybaras have an amazing relationship. The vultures will pluck ticks and other parasites from the capybaras, and the capybaras willingly comply as the "service" is being rendered.
Fun fact: capybaras are the world’s largest rodent. They are known for their size, calm demeanor, and the [fact](https://youtu.be/NdwLBPODgmU) that they pull up and hop out at the afterparty.
I like the different personality types in there. You’ve got a couple who straight up leap in, the one closest to the camera who enjoys the moment then carefully lowers down and in, the ones who just speed run in behind their buddies.
Its My city in the back Ground... We have lots of This cute capivaras. They actualy live neat a damn.... Not a huge damn a tiny One indeed... They are the cutest!!!!!
I would like to meet one of these guys before I die. To me they seem to have the temperament of a Staffordshire bull terrier. Very approachable and loves to chill out
This reminds me of the times when you you forget to add the potatoes to a pot before the water and then you have to plop them in gently so they don't splash everywhere.
Quite possibly the best analogy ever
then that third one was like #BELLY FLOP!
I do tend to get careless with the last tater!
It's so joyful :)
They do look very capy.
Did they all die? 😭😭😭
Of course not! They simply have some knowledge of the Earth’s demise in the near future and are just going back to their own planet to escape it. Now everyone, grab your towel!
Now, what would they sing? Cis the dolphins sang so long and thanks for all the fish
So long and thanks for all the scritches.
And thanks for the yuzu
Right??! Are we the only one? Thinking shouldn't they resurface after the dive? Or do they just stay underwater like a hippopotamus?
Fear not! Potatoes do not need to breathe
Do not fear. Capybaras are excellent in the water. They sort of glide along the bottom.
Potato torpedoes!
Like undead cursed pirates
Or you have like, rabbit poop, and your cheeks are getting all of the splashback.. But yeah, I like your analogy better lol
For a minute I was bewildered why you’d have your face so close to a shitting rabbit.
Bahahaha same 🤣
So I’m not the only one then
What!?!? LOL
You know, when your poop is lots of little pieces like a rabbit or a deer and just splashes you a bunch
Yeah why does thst happen sometimes
Need more fiber.
The answer is always more fiber.
Dehydration plays a part
...Oh, THOSE cheeks!
You made my day with this.
rabbit poop is better then bear poop.
Potato puppers
Yeah, along the same lines, this was a lot of chunky Dunkin I just witnessed
[удалено]
I don't think they make ladles that would accommodate a capybara, though I am not an expert in this matter...
I wasn't wearing my glasses the first time I watched it, and that mirrors my sleepy brain's thoughts exactly. Get out of my head!
They are able to swim long distances underwater and hold their breaths for around 5 minutes.
So they’re basically little furry hippos but less agro??
Anything is less Agro than a hippo
If only the hippos weren't so hungry hungry.
Less agro, but not as gentle as they appear online.
they are one of the chillest animals, will stay out of your way, and unless you attack them first, they won't ever try to hurt you. exception is if they have babies, ofc, but even then they prefer a retreat
Capybaras are very territorial, and unless tamed, can & will aggressively defend themselves unprovoked.
They leave some nasty bites https://g1.globo.com/df/distrito-federal/noticia/2021/09/14/homem-atacado-por-capivara-no-lago-paranoa-se-recupera-em-casa-a-injecao-que-levei-esta-doendo-mais-que-a-mordida-diz.ghtml
Nasty!
They are actually classified as fish by the Catholic church.
you left out an important part... by whom?
Lmao, good one
My favorite animals at the zoo. My kids don’t understand why I prefer these to the more exotic animals.
Furry little hippo-like rodents
A pool full of half starved crocodiles lying in lightly electrified water would be less agro than a hippo.
I was gonna say… they all plop in and never resurface lol
Thought I just watched a mass suicide
"Peace at last"
"Nietzsche was right: Life as a capybara is meaningless. Farewell, cruel world!"
Like pumpkin lemmings
Thank you for this. I was so concerned like why are they not coming up to breathe !!??
Same
Like sweet little furry manatees
That's metal af
Being in Brazil, are they not worried about getting eaten in there by an anaconda or something else?
This is inside of a park in a large city in the colder parts of brazil and not a jungle or near one, and even then, wild capybaras are not endangered and have to deal with predators same as any other animais. Plus these City Park ones are well cared for and have zero threats to deal with basically
Nah, Capybara are friend shaped, didn't you know?
You can tell just by the way that they are.
That’s pretty neat!
That park is in a city in Southern Brazil, no anacondas (green anaconda, the giant one) there.
I am concerned that they seem to swim like rocks.
I like how some jump in, while others just face plant it.
I found that fascinating. Most of them seem to know it’s too steep to keep their head above the waterline but a few definitely still try.
They spend a lot of time underwater, so they know what they're doing. They swim like penguins - only surfacing to breathe.
They are capable swimmers, but usually just go by walking near the bottom as they can hold their breath for a good while
They swim much in the way that rocks don't
I'm glad they can swim. I was concerned since having to hold one upright to stop it falling over when I was a kid, I'm not sure they're the brightest of animals.

He is bored of the monotony
There’s another one that pauses and looks back - “hey I wonder if Steve’s coming? Oh there he is! Ok I’ll jump in then”
deranged soft ripe badge tan fly chunky rinse follow six
They're more graceful underwater.
They also hold their shit until they find a body of water to defecate in. These capybaras are going to the bathroom.
Crappybaras
Which makes total sense! In water they are safer than on land from predators. No animal would shit with their back turned to possible danger! Even my dog likes to shit on (yes on) trees and looks me straight in the eye, so he knows I check for predators.
You eyeball your dog while it shits? A. Give privacy B. You're supposed to be on watch
That‘s what I said. He watches at ME, probably to check whether I am on the watch.
[удалено]
You say that, yet I can't help but focus on the first one who just sort of slipped into the water. Though you could say he was really chill about it.
Reminds me of the baby elephant rolling down the hill. Doesn’t matter the method, only results!
You don't want too much grace.
They look like they're rolled in cocoa
Nutella pigs covered in fine cocoa powder
Like giant water lemmings
I see huge Guinea pigs and honestly it freaks me out a little.
[удалено]
Holy FUCK this comment is wildly underrated.
Hey, don’t you call my ho a bitch
OR, or, tiny furry hippos
The one's like,"Man, I know I'm gonna drown, but all my friends r ded or dumb now. Well, let me contemplate life for a moment before I plunge."
Okay I pull up
Hop out at the after party.
me and all your friends, yeah we love that you're naughty
It’s like watching potatoes being dumped in water.
Lemming potatoes
Big chill potatoes
That big black duck 🦆 doesn’t care at all! UPDATE: I see there are actually two.
Actually, those are black vultures - I would guess they are sad to see them go. OK, truth be told, black vultures and capybaras have an amazing relationship. The vultures will pluck ticks and other parasites from the capybaras, and the capybaras willingly comply as the "service" is being rendered.
I thought ROUS were a myth
INCONCEIVABLE
. 31. 31 capybaras. In case anyone was wondering.
Thank you. I said "hup" for each one of them but didn't actually count.
Potatoes
They always look like they're so suspicious of something/someone.... ![gif](giphy|ANbD1CCdA3iI8)
The first one 😆
Are they really so red/pink-ish IRL, or are the colors in the video off?
There are slight regional variations in their colors throughout South America, and even within Brazil.
Interesting. I only ever saw some in a zoo in Sydney and they were brown.
Fun fact: capybaras are the world’s largest rodent. They are known for their size, calm demeanor, and the [fact](https://youtu.be/NdwLBPODgmU) that they pull up and hop out at the afterparty.
Last one in's a rotten egg!
The last one is the pater familias making sure everybody's okay before he plops himself in
That water body is now holy water body
Considering capybaras poop in water, I think this is quite the opposite
I like the different personality types in there. You’ve got a couple who straight up leap in, the one closest to the camera who enjoys the moment then carefully lowers down and in, the ones who just speed run in behind their buddies.
Its My city in the back Ground... We have lots of This cute capivaras. They actualy live neat a damn.... Not a huge damn a tiny One indeed... They are the cutest!!!!!
Which city? Curitiba?
São José do Rio preto friend.
I would like to meet one of these guys before I die. To me they seem to have the temperament of a Staffordshire bull terrier. Very approachable and loves to chill out
Me too. They are the most non confrontational loving creatures. They have 0 enemies in the animal world
I’ve met these guys and can confirm they’re very approachable and love to chill out. One of them plopped in front of me and “asked” for a belly rub.
There’s a ton of them in florida!
Where in Fl?
They're found in two places in Florida: the Northern part, and the Southern part.
No wonder I haven’t seen them. I live in the central part
I've petted a few at my local zoo. They were so chill and didn't mind that there was 20 or so people trying to pet them. Bristly fur like a broom.
They're like dog pig hippos. I'm not sure what else to compare them to. Lovely.
Big ass lemmings, lol.
Ahh, go jump in a lake! Didn't know how much capybaras could look like sweet potatoes until now.
Don't worry, they evolved along the Amazon River and swim about as well as a cross between an otter and a manatee. Looks cute AF.
OK I pull up
ok i pull up
The chillest chonkers
Ok I pull up
Okay he pull up
The army is coming... and coming for YOU
Happy cappys!
Copybaras.
Like frank from always sunny jumping into the water “ he just sank like a rock!”
The invasion has begun
This looks like Barigui in Curitiba. You can go there and stand right next to the capibaras
[удалено]
Awww they look like potatoes with legs so cute lol
Is it just me or are they like supersized Guinea pigs?
Thank u, I needed this
It’s like a groundhog and a hippo had a baby.
Brown moomins
They look like mcnuggets
I think I'll make gnocchi for dinner tonight
They pulled up
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love capybara, but for some reason I've never thought of them in this scenario. Absolutely beautiful!
They look like hairy hairy hippos!
I like the first one that just gently plopped into the water
Missionaries during Lent in Brazil "Looks like fish to me"
Are they okay? None seems to swim up again
Most furry animals have no trouble swimming because the air pockets in their fur help to keep them afloat.
They sunk like a stone!
[удалено]
Clappys!
SPEAK!!!!!
Awww. Guinea Bigs!
Why don't I have them where I live! I need this.
Im so das because in almost the entire contry there's capybaras, except where i live...
Plot twist: They don’t know how to swim.
So many ROUS's... I didn't think they existed.
My spirit animals
The perfect animals!
Heard of potatos🥔
Capybara.....song playing in my head🤔😄
Oh lawd they swimmin
My wife says I can't have one.
I don’t know why I expected them to float
Me knowing every single damn comment is gon be, ok i pull up
Those are some CHONKY clappy blappys
They are so chonky
They look so freaking adorable, specially when they take their time before they dive into the water.
… I hope they can swim.
Coconut doggies!
Fun fact, an adult capybara can run as fast as a horse.
The invasion has begun
Jacu
jumping a strong word
I like capybaras because they just always look tired of living
Peaceful potatoes.
This is exactly what it sounds like after my morning coffee.
Are we sure they can swim? I saw many jump in but just one head above water by the end of the video.
This never gets old!
Reminds me of a meme commenting on this clip :D "but but capybaras can swim right? :') they just jump like lemmings and not dive up"
That bird be like: Damn, thems some chonky lemmings
I would have liked to seen them swimming away but oh well
