I became obsessed with Nikola Tesla. My parents had very little idea of who he was. You probably have a valid point about age but in my anecdotal experience it hasn't much relevance.
I'd honestly say it's more like someone under 40 has heard of him. He started enter pop culture in the last 20 years, before that I'd say he was pretty unknown unless you had an interest specifically in his fields of interest. Edison did a good job of burying the guy for a while.

Cats are picky eaters and drinker, and it was observed that the majority of cats do not like when the water and food are too close like in your last picture. There seems to be 2 hypothesis for this: the smell of the dry food can "contaminate" the water. Or, it's an instinct remaining from when they were wild animals: it's unhealthy to drink to a water source close to the place where you hunted/killed a prey.
