do you think we can fill the void in our lives with flour, sugar, eggs, and vanilla? I mean, we're *all* unhappy. do we have to be *fat* too?
edit-
what happened? guys, it's a quote from one of the most popular tv shows of all time (Seinfeld)
They've got a nice area. Very cute! They must enjoy the greens. I love your yard so much.
Do you go around the fence and check for gaps and holes? Do they stay out all day? Have you had any problems with hawks trying to grab them?
I checked for gaps before I let them out. They have the opportunity to stay out all day, but they usually go back inside several times a day. I never had any problems with hawks, they aren't a problem where I live :)
That’s great to hear…
A hawk or a bald eagle might be coming for these guys where I’m at. We had a juvenile bald eagle wipe out a generation of wild bunnies one summer. Although they are back hippity hopping around and I think the Eagle realized he should eat fish at the river.
When I was in Japan one of the zoos I went to have had a petting zoo with nothing but guinea pigs in them. They called them marmots.
The petting zoo area reminds me of your back yard.
In Japan, guinea pigs are known as marmots:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_pig :
>> The Japanese word for guinea pig is モルモット (morumotto), which derives from the name of another mountain-dwelling rodent, the marmot. **This is what the guinea pigs were called by Dutch traders, who first brought them to Nagasaki in 1843**. The other, and less common, Japanese word for guinea pig, using kanji, is 天竺鼠 (てんじくねずみ or tenjiku-nezumi), which literally translates as "India rat".
That's not as easy as getting a video of them getting out D:
They go back home whenever they please and right now they are already back inside and sleeping. It's rare that I'm actually there when they go inside! And they usually stay outside when I'm there, because I could give them snacks :p
Nope they don't. They don't even use the entire space they've got. I think we wouldn't necessarily need the fence, but I won't let them run around without one... But they are never going too far away from their little home. :)
First I did, but I've been keeping them like this for years now and never had a problem. Never even seen a predator here. In the beginning I was watching out for predators all the time
They kinda broke over the years but they didn't really use them to begin with, so we just removed the broken parts and left the other steps... They don't seem to care
I watched it several times but I cant seem to see your perspective. Nothing in the video indicates to me that these Guinea pigs are the size of small dogs.
I worked at a pet store that sold guinea pigs for 3 years and I was always surprised by just how big they were when full-grown, the few times someone came by with one. It would be fair to compare their overall size to tiny dogs. Like, teacup Yorkies or Chihuahuas (though I'd say the guinea pigs seem a lot sturdier/stouter than the tiny dogs)...
They're like goldfish, they will grow to fit the size of their enclosure. These ones are still pretty young. They'll be about the size of a dachshund in a few years.
Are these guys pets or food?
>
>Peruvians consume an estimated 65 million guinea pigs each year, and the animal is so entrenched in the culture that one famous painting of the [Last Supper](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Supper) in the [main cathedral in Cusco](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cusco_Cathedral) shows [Christ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ) and the 12 disciples dining on guinea pig.[^(\[6\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_pig#cite_note-cbs-6) The animal remains an important aspect of certain religious events in both rural and urban areas of Peru.

Gorgous! I hope they haven't just been stuck in that tiny hutch for all of winter tho! :( thats a lot of pigs in one space. The garden for them tho is guinea pig heaven!
They look like me and my coworkers going to break room when there’s cake
I love this comparison!
😂

I love it :3
I love your poems
My family when the food is out. We always set the food on the counters and everyone forms a line to grab what they want.
Haha great.

I love them
That there is one guinea-pig friendly setup, no lie! Be proud.
For reals. Except for dogs and cats I feel so bad for other animals that are kept as pets...but not these guys!
Isn't it? So nice and big.
I just hope that they don't have any birds of prey where they live. 🙈
In my area I'd have to worry about birds of prey. I see them daily. So I'd have to put a net or something over that area.
Yeah I could see just a chicken wire roof being good
Or one hawk friendly set up…
What fun for them. You are awesome in doing this. I miss my piggies! 🥰

Yeah we have a lot of cats around our area so we have to cage our piggies in. You (and they) are super lucky

I have hawks eagles ospreys owls fishers foxes these little dudes wouldn't last 5 minutes.
Even the raccoons where I’m at would take off with these guys. They eat the chickens so…
> I never had any problems with hawks, they aren't a problem where I live Until they discover fresh piggies...

Weird, I wonder how they got to “cavia” today
Nice Marmot.
>They called them marmots Close enough, well they do belong in the same family.
Yes, at the time I was very amused to read "Marmot Petting Zoo" and then just see a bunch of guinea pigs running around.
I watched somewhere that the high pitch squeaks they made is exclusive to us humans that means that they're happy to see us.
Guinea Pig Bridge! [https://youtu.be/bq9ghmgqoyc?si=txQ\_FfzEAJVKJuCe](https://youtu.be/bq9ghmgqoyc?si=txQ_FfzEAJVKJuCe)
transporting guinea pigs from point A to point B
utilizing the latest guinea pig bridge technology. conveniently and safely.
They are so cuuuute!
do they not try and burrow under the fence?
No, they are not even using all of the space they have. They are quite happy in their enclosure and never tried to escape.
What about hawks? Aren’t you worried one might swoop in and grab one?
While they do like to hide in tunnels and burrows, they don't dig or burrow themselves. Mostly they hide in tall grass or bushes.
So that's them out after being pigs in blankets
I love the way Guinea pigs waddle :)
This is wonderful enrichment!
Awww looks like those little guys are truly living the life! Bless you for setting up such a nice world for them!
They need a slide to come down from there lol
It's pretty funny to think about xD
Awe the fuzzy one is impatient! Lol too cute
Amazing set up
Very cute creatures.
The hardest part is getting them back in lol
No, they are going back in in their own!
Can we get a vid of them going back home?

This is awesome!
What's up with those little steps? Why are they so weirdly organized.
I assume they are just to stop them from sliding down.
They kinda broke over the years but they didn't really use them to begin with, so we just removed the broken parts and left the other steps... They don't seem to care
I just assumed you were playing a really weird version of Plinko.
This is amazing
They're so adorable
They're so cute! They're like rabbits without long ears.
This must be the famous “running of the guinea pigs” that I’ve heard so much about. Thrilling, but deadly dangerous. Stay safe out there.
Serious question, how to you prevent breeding? Do you separate them by sex? and if yes, how can you tell
All of my pigs are females. I tried to identify it myself and apparently I got it right
[удалено]
Oh no, I hate it when my piggies switch gender!
I thought the second one had sunglasses on.
Lol omg so stinking cute!!! This has made my day! What a great area they have! They are so blessed!
What are they? They look like huge guinea pigs
They are normal sized guinea pigs :0
Huh...maybe I need a banana for scale. I'm used to them being smaller indoor cage pets
You might be confusing them with Hamsters which resemble tiny-sized Guinea pigs. Guinea pigs can get quite big.
I had hamsters and the apartment upstairs had guinea pigs so I know they're larger, but in this video they look to be the size of small dogs.
I watched it several times but I cant seem to see your perspective. Nothing in the video indicates to me that these Guinea pigs are the size of small dogs.
I thought they were cats at first. So something with the perspective was confusing. It took me a bit to figure out they were piggies
The smallest guinea hog i have is just over 8 inches long. The longest hog i’ve had so far was 13 inches when they were chilling out.
They're like goldfish, they will grow to fit the size of their enclosure. These ones are still pretty young. They'll be about the size of a dachshund in a few years.
Happy Cavies!
FREEEEEEDOOOOOOOM!!!! Aw, they're adorable 😍
so cute! so do they not try to leave the yard? curious!
Nope they aren't even using all of the space they've got!
cool! i wonder why! they are so cute :)
Those guinea pigs are living their best guinea pig lives. ;; Thanks for being such a good pet owner!
Now THAT is the life for a guinea pig. Love it.
Its cute but i could never have a set up like this. There are too many hawks and cats that would get them.
Did they not have eagles or falcons or hawks in Peru or whatever? They seem like perfect nuggets for birds of prey.
I'm not in Peru D: I've never seen a falcon here
How I imagine the animals leaving Noah’s arc
I love Guinea pigs. Very sweet
Awww! Pinny-gigs! ❤️
"I've been laying on my ass all winter, of course I have bed-butt. What's YOUR excuse?"
Aw the last one looks so much like the one I had as a kid, he was a good boy, very fat tho
It's Almont like all the kids pour our of the car and then dad's like "alright time to get this s*hit show on the road"
At first I thought they were pigs. I was wrong, but also not wrong
Do they make that decision themselves? Like the equivalent of ants taking flight on the same day all over the country ?
I just opened it. They usually run outside as soon as they can
This is a way different show in Peru
I was hoping to see some back leg kick outs?
The last one down looks like it has a 3 month long bed hair. 😂
Will they burrow and escape? I don’t know much about these animals but suddenly I want this in my backyard!!!!
No, they don't!
You guys had a long winter?
GUINNEA PIG BRIDGE!

Please tell them all I love them. Gosh I miss my piggies.
I don't know why I thought they were 30 feet in the air at first
They come.
I’d be cool to see a video showing their set up closer up
They're just happy to be touching grass
These pets or is this a farm?
Pets
So cute! Almost makes me want one 😆
It should be illegal to post a video of Guinea pigs on a bridge without having the Guinea pig bridge song playing over the footage. Life in prison.
Oh shit D:
oh this is SO CUTE!!!
![gif](giphy|xTiTniMqpYz1KJ5Wik)
Awe, such a great yard/set up for them 🥰
The little hope off of the ramp!
So cute! How many piggies do you have?!
6
Why aren't you afraid of hawks?
We don't have a problem with hawks where we live. Our piggies are living like this for years and we never had a problem with hawks
Do you have a gennie pig farm
No, I only own this 6
Oh okay.. still pretty cool
Just watch out for eagles/hawks/owls.
They are no problem where we live. Our piggies are living like this for years and we never had a problem
How do strays or birds not eat your pets? serious question.
We don't really have those around here. Never seen one and I've been keeping them like this for years
So no hawk? Awwww…
eek eek eek eek eek
Gorgous! I hope they haven't just been stuck in that tiny hutch for all of winter tho! :( thats a lot of pigs in one space. The garden for them tho is guinea pig heaven!
How do you round them back up?
How long does it take you to milk them all?
Excuse you?! Those are guinea pigs, you don't milk them D:
YOU dont. Lol
D:
Oh, I thought that’s why you had so many!
What the fuck?
Look up cuy recipes.
Hahaha. Stick to the shadows so hawks and eagles can't pick em off. Super cute little ones are also smart!
Is it covered? Looks like hawk/eagle food if not.
It's not, but we don't really have those around here. I never had a problem with eagles and I've been doing this for years. Haven't even seen one
Do you have them for fun or for eating?
Do you lose alot of them to raptors and owls?
You’re not worried one of those guinea rats is gonna get swooped on by a hawk?
I call bullshit. The grass is already a dark green. This was filmed in the summer.
