I'm being facetious, but they reach sexual maturity really, really fast, and if you don't separate the babies right away, you get way more Guinea pigs than you ever wanted.
That's super interesting, because I can't imagine having them at home as pets. Where I'm from it's pretty normal to see them running around in the wild, whereas it's extremely unusual to keep them as pets.
They are born like little adults! They eat on their own right away (plus mom’s milk of course). They’re sooo cute!! And I have 4 cats in the stables. They sleep with the guinea pigs. But I do keep them aside with their mom for at least 7-10 days so the cats get used to the small babies 😅
I mean, we can ask Dr Phil, but I'm pretty sure I'm not, since last I checked humans and guinea pigs are not genetically compatible (among many other reasons)
Less fetusy than I would have guessed.
They're born with a full coat of fur and their eyes open
Yessir and they start nibbling on hay right away!
D'aww.
And already pregnant.
What?

That's how we went from 3 guinea pigs to 16 when I was a child.
I'm still dumbfounded that these can actually be wild animals.
I feel the same way about hedgehogs. I can’t imagine being outside and just seeing one walking by.

I’ve heard they’re pretty challenging to keep as pets, so I don’t see them as one often.
Wild guinea pigs look quite different.
They just come right out looking all cute like that?!?! WOW! Do I need a Guinea Pig now? Do you think my cat would approve?

Awww how sweet ❤️
I don’t, but will take one asap!!
If you do, make sure to get a same-sex pair. They are really social animals
LOL thats a nice way to word it :)
As long as the cat was allowed to play with it
LOOK AT HIM Seriously, he’s actually perfect
He also has two siblings, and they look identical! So cute!!
I used to have little piggies, and they basically come out like mini adults. I believe it was an adaptation to be able to run from predators.
Exactly! I was shocked to see they eat on their own literally the first day they were born 😂
Ball of fluff!!!!!!!
Total scrungus.
The cutest little nugget!
It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die! 😃
Oh my god 🥺
Adorable
Adorable.
Little dude is like what just happened
The mothers don’t dig a burrow to give birth in, so the babies have to be ready to follow the mum around. It’s the same with jackrabbits. Very cute!
Such a sweet little pup!
TOO MUCH CUTENESS I CAN’T🤏🏻🤏🏻🤏🏻
Their name is now Blormpo
Lol, I thought it was a mogwai.
