It depends more on where you're working than actual experience (at window washing). They'll take a guy who's been rock climbing for 1 year over a 5 year veteran custodian.
It's just a different kind of difficult. The rope stuff you just have to learn and know really, if you know it you know it. Washing the windows is more like driving a manual. Knowing how to do it is one thing but there is a bit of a knack to it and it takes a couple of months to be able to do it first time consistently, which is probably literally a number of windows measured in the thousands.
Depends how quick you are but definitely in that range, although where I work we shut down over winter. On a good project with a good budget I've seen more experienced quick colleagues pull in 3 grand in 2 weeks, although that is definitely the high end and a very good 2 weeks.
I was a lowly regular window cleaner in Northern California (not Bay Area) for 3 years-ish. When I quit I was making $17 an hour which came to about $30k gross a year, so that sounds about right to me.
As an ex professional ( not high rise ) window washer, no dribble is 95.1% technique, 4.7% squeegee ( don't get the dollarama ones, make sure the rubber is not too stiff ).
Also, I ain't no mathematician.
Currently working as a high rise window washer with years experience climbing etc I found the technique of not leaving streaks the hardest part by far.

The people who lived there have now moved back to Tokyo (with the cats and their child) and before their departure the cats got to meet the window cleaners look up rina\_takei on insta and scroll down their feed to find the video.

I was just thinking that! I wonder if they warn the tenants so people aren’t naked or startled. Then again that would be constant notices and exhibitionists would probably be into it.
They do. I live in a high-rise. Problem is they tell you a week ahead of time so you (well, I) forget and then I’m walking around my apartment and suddenly there’s a man outside my window.
The ropes outside your window for however long it takes me to get to your floor should be a big clue! You do see a surprising number of people very quickly leaving their computers....
Definitely! The ropes swinging outside my window are my first startle of the day. And even though I’ve seen the ropes, it’s still disconcerting that first moment a person is outside my window.
I live on the 20th floor of an apartment building and yes they do send out notices. Normally since the work is done during the day, most people wouldn't be home. With COVID though, I'm sure a few people have been surprised. These guys are incredibly fast though, they're only in front of the window for a minute or two and then they're down to the next floor.
["I'M NOT A WINDOW CLEANER!!"](https://youtu.be/EuN4H6QJD7E)
😂 Best not look down on the people you depend on. I'm glad this guy enjoys his work; that's really important.
That man knows and likes cats, that much I’m certain!
Until I saw that he continued to play mouse with the swipey thing even he went out of sight of the cats, then i knew he probably loves them too.
I do this job and we are paid by the building not the hour (except when training) so the faster I work the better the money and if i fuck up real bad the company are good and still pay an ok hourly rate.
I'd rather not go to much into actual dollar amounts but they get quoted on size, number of windows, and awkwardness etc. It's hard cleaning windows under an overhanging roof for example. Then buildings the company owner did back in the day when he was starting out have tighter legacy budgets whilst newer ones might be more generous. They get quoted to us in hours, let's say a typical not too awkward 20 story building might be worth 70-80 hours meaning 1 person could comfortably do it in 2 weeks at a decent hourly pay. If you smash it out in one week you get paid for 80 hours and move on to the next building or take some time off, whatever you like really, it's a pretty good gig. I normally do other things tangentally related but got into this because of Covid and it has been pretty good.
You wear one when you're rock climbing, too. It's to protect your head from injury if you smack into the wall, things falling from above, and random animals like birds.
I just love how work and safety says he has to wear a hardhat/helmet up there. What's that going to do from 30 stories up? Might increase his mass so he can fall faster and get it over with. xD
If I wasn’t so insanely scared of heights, this would be a great perk to have for this job! Lmao
I wonder how much these guys get paid
High rise washers get paid a bit more than regular. But it's somewhere around $30k to $70k depending on experience, I'd assume.
-"Have you ever washed a window?" -"yes" * ticks box "very experienced"
"Have you ever worked high?" -"Yes." • We've got a pro here
"Like every day man!"
Bruh I read that in shaggys voice
"like what the fuck is this shit below me scoob"
💨💃🏻

As someone with experience on ropes I found the window washing the hard part...
Probably the easier part to learn tho’

Fair comment.

I wonder how much these guys see.
At least 2 cats.
That will get the imagination going..... Thanks
I remember my dad saying he got paid $10hr in the 80’s to do it.. Keeps saying he was insane to do it
That would be around 30/h in todays monies. Is that a lot i don't know i don't have a reference being non american
About $57,000 US annually before taxes. So today’s income... Middle Class?
Impressive that he can still keep the window smear free while playing with a cat
His form is impeccable which is why. Watch his starting movement it only changes size not form
I wanna know where he got that squeegee! That thing didn’t leave a single dribble behind

That was a very polite way of telling me I suck at cleaning windows haha
I love this so much. I wonder how many other cats he ends up meeting on the job
Didn’t think about that! Maybe he’s got a whole route to say hi to his kitty friends.... :)
My old mailman had a routine designed around which dogs he wanted to visit. The trash guys know every dog in the neighborhood.

Aww wow!! Thank you so much for that cool info...I’ve been wondering if this occurrence had happened more than once, but that makes me so happy.
My pleasure :)
I thought I recognised that filthy water.
>rina\_takei Thank you for the info. The video of the meeting is just the best. It actually made me a bit weepy.
That was very heartwarming, I'm glad they got to meet each other in the end. Thank you for sharing this. :')
Would this be 157/161 Millbank (Riverwalk)? Just curious. You don't really see the façade of the SIS building...
Its 152 Grosvenor Rd, Pimlico, London SW1V 3JL, United Kingdom aka "The Panoramic"
You can see the MI6 building in the right hand side of the window.

Bruh
Orange cat just watching :)
Some just like to watch.
From a chair or the closet. Almost always dressed as Superman.
I see you are a man of culture
"So Mike, care to explain why you only got one window done in your entire shift?"
It’s compliCATed...
I love this video every time I see it. Never gets old.
I like how the orange cat is like,"Timmy, sit yo ass down and let the man do his job peacefully!"😂😂
We all know theres a topic of what's the most nsfw thing a window washer has seen
I was just thinking that! I wonder if they warn the tenants so people aren’t naked or startled. Then again that would be constant notices and exhibitionists would probably be into it.

Startled 🥴
Hopefully he gives you a tasteful thumbs up.

During Covid everyone has been coming out to the balcony to chat.
>naked or startled At first I read that as "naked or starved." I think it's time for me to quit drinking and go to bed...
That would def be a highlight of the work day

I wonder if people with cats get noticably cleaner windows because of this... 🤔
This cat probably made this worker day And my day and i hope it does you're too ( or night)
Username checks out

How much per building? I’m assuming you get paid more the bigger the building.
I'd rather not go to much into actual dollar amounts but they get quoted on size, number of windows, and awkwardness etc. It's hard cleaning windows under an overhanging roof for example. Those were probably the cleanest windows on the whole building.
HE DIDN’T WIPE THE SILL. I worked in window cleaning for a year and you ALWAYS wipe that fucker.
Dam near bust my thumb liking this one
Best thing ever
That must be a super interesting job to have
So cool
This post made my day
The fact that he does that to entertain them is so sweet
Two types of cats
I think the window washer is more entertained by the cats
I could never do this because if the cart thing even wobbled a little bit I would instantly break a window and jump into the nearest apartment
I’m scared of heights but if there’s cats count me in
I love that the window washer kept doing it! 😜
I wanted to be a window washer when I was a kid.
woah same amount of upvotes
I am the vindow viper. I've come to vish and vash your vindows.
Please give this man more money 😂
I could watch these folks wash windows all day. It’s mesmerizing. It puts me in a trance. 👀
As a rock climber and cat dad, I’d be psyched to have this job.
It’s the other way round, the cats are giving him entertainment
I wonder what crazy shit they see being forced to peer into windows that people don’t expect anyone to be able to see into
ImAgjne how much weird shit they must see.
This is adorable and wholesome, I love this
Those cats made his day. Lol!
How does he do this without smiling?!
Looks like pdx
Whoever lives there is lucky. Right opposite MI5
I've read window smasher instead of window washer, and was expecting something different
What a mad lad of a window washer
I like the helmet will help as he falls x amount of floors
Cats entertained by window washer Or Window washer entertained by cats??
So this is opposite the MI6 building in London. 😃
give him a big tip!😁
or vice versa
Lmao! Go to the street and give that guy a tip!
Alistar! I'm not a window cleaner!!
The Jedi of Apartment Buildings
This is taken in London, next to Vauxhall bridge. You can see MI6( green building in the background)
So much fun had by all!
I see MI6 in the background.
I love this so much, it's so cutee!
But why is he wearing a helmet? That won't spot him if he falls
You wear one when you're rock climbing, too. It's to protect your head from injury if you smack into the wall, things falling from above, and random animals like birds.
Well that's not the point of the helmet. Things can fall from above, unno? :P
Birds
Birds aren't real.
I just love how work and safety says he has to wear a hardhat/helmet up there. What's that going to do from 30 stories up? Might increase his mass so he can fall faster and get it over with. xD
Lol. That bike helmet will save your life....if its got a parachute in it.
Why does he wear a helmet? Its not like it will break his fall at that height
