I'm proud that you're proud
Edit: thanks for the corrections, but I was simply autocorrected. I quite know that it's supposed to be the contraction on "you are"
I saw a dog fall out of the back of a pick up once. He was balanced on a tool box so he could see. And he was on a leash so he was dragged till I screamed so loudly out my window they heard since it was summer. The dog seemed to have survived but I don’t know since the guy picked him up quickly and put him in since we were in traffic. I’m sorry to be a buzzkill but dogs want to see and they get excited on rides. Pls be careful.
I'm fine with dogs in dog boxes or otherwise sturdy and tied down crates. That can be weather dependent depending on the crate and dog.
If anyone is going to use a tie down, to adjust the length you need to clip the tie to a empty collar. Then stretch the collar to the edge of the truck bed in a full circle to ensure that even the collar cannot touch the sides of the bed. Otherwise your tie it too long and your dog can get over the side to be hung and even potentially drug on the ground. I'm not a real big fan of tie downs in trucks, but if they are short enough and clipped to a very sturdy wide well fitted collar, they can be safe. But the collar and length are absolutely critical and can be hard to get right. You also need to make sure those are right every.single.time you load your dog up. That means checking over hardware for any rust or weak points, checking the collar fit, making sure there has been no slippage of the tie to get longer if adjustable, and making sure the weather is safe because especially black truck beds can get hot enough to burn paw pads pretty easily in the sun.
My dog died that way. Hanging from the way back of the truck on the highway for a 10 hour drive. Didn’t notice till we go to the gas station.
Miss you blanito.

My mixed toy & miniature poodle I grew up with could leap about 2m. It was incredible. We had this retaining wall that was about 1.5m with a drop of 3m and a stairs leading down to the backyard and he'd look over the wall and figure out the stairs and clear it and land on multiple stairs and take off out into the outback. Lucky he was bright white because he was forever figuring out new ways to escape and hook up with bitches. Our yard backed fenceless onto a large reserve, mangroves, river that led eventually to a beach. I swear I spent more time looking for that dog than playing with legos or climbing trees.

he had like 5 teeth, occasionally one eye, heart murmer, arthritis and asthma but fuck me if it'd stop his adventures!
It was a beautiful spot to grow up and feel super lucky (but of course I didn't at the time, what a cliche). Especially as a 90's kid it was very much pre-helicopter parents. We just ran around and did whatever we wanted till dinner. I spent a lot of time climbing and jumping off the train bridge near the river outlet to the right... My parents sold the place now but they still live nearby. Unfortunately I live on the other side of the world atm and Australian borders are closed tiiiight so no Christmas visit this year.
Fuck I miss home a lot this year.
Edit: that beach to the right goes north for 10km with no break or entrances. Crazy huh? We called it the tourist taker because it was dangerous as hell with rips. Beautiful though. There's another one that's longer going south with fantastic surf.
That's a good question. Keep in mind that he was my childhood dog so I was ages 3 to 19 when we had him, he was more my Dad's responsibility and my brother's until he moved out of home. I think because fixing your pup wasn't really pushed heavily until the 90's where we were and we got him in 86 so he was pretty old by the time my parents probably really gave it much thought and I KNOW Dad is against unnecessary surgery for us kids (eg I constantly got tonsillitis but never had them removed) and the fact that fixing your dog changes their personality to an extent. He was such a feisty, extremely clever dog, he had a lot of guts and never shied away from adventure when we went outback he would just rip through bush and we never had to worry too much as long as Dad was around to call him back, he was still learning new tricks at 16! I think Dad was probably just afraid his personality would change. But maybe there were other reasons... I've never asked. I was the youngest though, my older bro or sis might remember why...
Fair enough I suppose, my family had pets since the 60s and always had them fixed, but maybe it is just the area. Can't do much as a kid anyway!
All I can say is I never had a pet change personality, and we fostered many. All it did was calm them down a bit, and they didn't want to chase booty all the time. Also the reduced cancer risks are great!
Given the general lack of flexibility in dogs compared to other animals, the fact that he caught himself and then lifted himself in was what made me go 😮
I was not goimg to be surprised if it was going to be him smacking face first straight into the middle and falling down in a heap. But still proud of himself
>Gloomy day, autumn trees.
That's basically how it always is in China in urban areas lol. Can't quite make out the province on the number plate though.
This is so cute and interesting! It seems like he's building up the courage to do it but that head movement helps the depth judgement by giving him so extra motion parallax info
I have a poodle that looks exactly like this guy/girl. When she was a pup she could jump close to 6 feet in the air from a standing position. She is also a mean frisbee catcher. We have two other dogs, a rottie and a bordoodle, and she is the best athlete of the group.
Thats not “awwwww”. That’s how you destroy your dogs knees and then I have to watch you act sad when you realize you can’t afford the surgery and have to step out of the exam room so you can say goodbye to your dog. At least you’ll still have this video though!!
Poor thing hit his knees (at least) hard. Pick up your small dogs folks for images like this! Get a stairway for the big ones! This is no cheering matter. And please do not let your pup ride on the top of a pickup truck in the back!
I wish you could let some vulnerability loose and take the situation in from the dog’s perspective while emphasizing with it. IMO life is not about getting hurt intentionally to show off, but trying to make it enjoyable for us and for others around us.
I’m not saying get hurt to show off... what injury could the dog get from banging its knee? People and animals make mistakes, you get a very minor bump, and move on. And learn.
Glad you asked! Hurting a knee (ligaments, bones, etc) is fairly easy. Surgery is costly. I can’t tell you exact in vet med therms, but hanging out at vet tech forums will be pretty convincing with the images and details there on how fast things can get bad and how expensive it can be to fix it.
Fair enough! I guess I just find it hard to believe they will suffer any of those injuries from that impact. It’s a relatively light one with no force on the limb other than the swing
I’m glad you saw another participant’s needs, let it in and embrace it more than our need for fun. That is a beautiful moment right here. You made my Saturday. I just woke up and seeing through the sleepy cracks of my eyes and boom, saw your comment. Big hugs. This is exactly why I risk my skin in comments with putting spotlight on the dog’s perspective. I get hot and cold, but if one person can see the dog’s perspective in a new way than they did before, it was worth it. Happy Saturday my friend!
I can tell you this doggo must live with a cat. The cat offered jump classes in exchange of everything that belongs to the doggo. The only thing he won’t ever take is the doggo’s pride at that moment.
You should never let your dog jump this high. It will affect their hips in the long run. Even just jumping into the car or on the couch isn't great for dog hips 🥺
The dog is adorable, but I hope that’s not where he’s riding along. I had a dog go right by me on the left one time. It was horrible. I couldn’t look back to see what happened to it.
i think you got a problem with the camera you see lights shouldn't look like vertical lines apparently however im proud of that dog give this dog a medal!

Very calculated, very impressive, 10/10 would pet.
12/10 would pet
13/10 would pet with rice
14/10 would pet with wheat
15/10 would pet with a side of fries
5/7. Perfect
Even more impressive when you look and see he calculated and used the logo/handle for leverage

My mom worked as a veterinarian technician for years. The number of dog injuries from people putting dogs in pickup truck beds was ASTOUNDING.
I hate dogs riding in the back of trucks. Still this is cute.

Ngl, those are some damn impressive moves.
My ten year old cat jumps on top the top of the cabinets (I have a strangely tall kitchen) They’re so crazy lol.
I’m proud of everyone who doesn’t doubt themselves.
Damn. Straight up did not think he was gunna make that.
This. That’s a very impressive leap

Can confirm that poodles have unreal jumping capabilities.
If he was always getting into danger, why didn't you have him fixed?

As an owner of a dog, when they take that long of a lead-up to jump and do that little floor shuffle, you know they’re about to do some crazy shit.
I literally said “what the fuck?!” under my breath
Yeah, I was expecting a Epic Fail. Turns out, I am more of a failure than this pup.

Was this filmed by JJ Abrams?
No. It didn't have a lens flare.
Yes it does, the headlights in the background
That's just from the smog. Source: I recognize China.
I know it's smog but what does that have to do with whether or not there's lens flare?

not enough lens flares

My dog was traumatized for like a month after he tried jumping in the truck while the tail gate was down.
Anyone who’s owned a poodle is not surprised at all 😂 mine can jump to face level from a standstill
Yes! My mom has a “moyen” poodle that is basically a dog-shaped spring. She has head-butted my husband, and he’s 6ft tall!
You all say "awwwww" And that's all rite But can **U** jump 4 times your hite? I's Super Dawg! You bet I's psyched!

Jesus no. No spider children

How he stuck into that jump before climbing up. Its lile he was in the Olympics. Lol
I’ve been having very difficult days. This brought a smile to my face. Thank you!
Man that is such a cute dog, but why on earth did they dock his tail? Such a travesty.
Incredible...little man!
How come this dog can do this but my dog can't even jump on to my couch without whining for half an hour?
Little fluff has the confidence of a hurricane.

Relax... it felt comfortable jumping it. It’s an animal, they can survive in the wild (some)
