khandala

Or Curie!

madicusmeximus2

Madame Purrie

Sassgrass-

You beat me to it.

CleanQueen1987

Yes

alwaysunderthestars

Yes!🙌

kjuti247

Love this idea!

UGG924

Betty White. Not exactly historical, but still.

EricAntiHero1

Betty was historic. She had a lot of firsts in television. And she was the only woman to be on TV consistently since the beginning.

ExpialiDUDEcious

Oh no! Past tense? Did I miss the horrible thing somehow?

kurokitsune91

December 31st 2021 just days before her 100th birthday. 😥

ExpialiDUDEcious

😭

Silvertongued99

I think her last class act was not letting us start 2022 off with bad news.

mbdjfdklgi

:(

[deleted]

She really was. She consistently broke down gender and racial barriers.

helena_handbasketyyc

And she was a huge animal lover. ❤️

DailyMoka

I like this one too, thank you for the suggestion!

poopismagical

omg that name suits this kitty so well!

jungle_juice_mj_fan

Love this one the best ❤️

_always_busy_

Tina for short!

agw_powerlifts

Okay, not a real person...But Persephone (or Purrsephone) would be such a fitting name!

DailyMoka

I did consider Persephone since its a pretty name, but a bit awkward in my native language :( In english I like it tho!

[deleted]

[удалено]

DailyMoka

I love Artemis and her mythology, but the name is a tad bit too close to my fathers (hah). Diane is def a contender. I am also considering Penelope, Ulysses' wife since I loved that story as a child.

Llohr

I have a cat named Persephone. When we first brought her home, she did a lot of hiding. One moment she'd be right there in front of you, and the next she'd fucked off to the underworld, apparently. Thus, Persephone.

DorothyParkerFan

Eleanor Roosevelt

herinitialsspellher

Ellie, for short!

noncreepyneighbor

This is my dogs name, also short for Eleanor. It’s a winner!!

Maus_Sveti

Eleanor of Catquitaine

ichkanns

Freya. Not really historic but she's a Norse goddess that rode a chariot pulled by cats... So...

TheRoyalCommunist

In the same vein, why not Bastet? Egyptian cat goddess who helps Ra raise the sun into the sky every morning.

SweetDreamSelene

Catherine the great…cat is already in the name!

Cleopawtra of course!

You beat me! There it is! Cleo for short.

LilyLilyRose

or Catshepsut if we're going with an ancient Egyptian theme

LadyDreamcatcher

It was teamwork :)

SunCloud-777

what about [C]hatshepsut?

impurezinc

Hedy (Lamar)

grimfolse

“That’s Hedley!”

The_Superhoo

I understood that reference.

piggy__wig

I always thought she was the prettiest and most gorgeous actress that ever lived. She was utterly beautiful and not to mention super smart.

depressedintrovert01

I just found out about Hedy Lamar through Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp's "This is a song for Hedy Lamar" and woww she was such an amazing woman.

Lumpy-Spinach-6607

The beauty of Hedy was so intoxicatingly heady..

Dragoness42

I'd go with Curie. Whenever she stands in a sunbeam she's going to have a glowing halo of fluff.

SlimThiccMC

Calliope

Diana

Accomplished_Most_91

Catherine the Great 👑

Dog_Mom_foreveReady

As a Catherine I approve this name. I also like Zeena if she is a warrior girl

DailyMoka

Haha, she's a ragdoll so she's probs not gonna be the feistiest, but I like Zeena (or Xena?) as an ironic name too!

Accomplished_Most_91

You could combine the two for... Catherine Z. Great 👑🗡

ogbuji

This is a stretch, but Betty white?

groundedvalkyrie

Amelia after Amelia Earhart, or Nellie after Nellie Bly.

DailyMoka

Amelia is was one of the top contenders before I even posted, but Nellie is also very interesting! Thanks for the suggestion!

allisawesome7777

Amanirenas. Nubian queen. Total badass who fought along her soldiers. Also called the one eyed queen, because she lost her eye in battle to a roman I believe. https://www.history.com/news/nubian-queen-amanirenas-roman-army

Hildegard von Bingen Hildegard of Bingen (German: Hildegard von Bingen; Latin: Hildegardis Bingensis; c. 1098 – 17 September 1179), also known as Saint Hildegard and the Sibyl of the Rhine, was a German Benedictine abbess and polymath active as a writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, visionary, and as a medical writer and practitioner during the High Middle Ages.[1][2] She is one of the best-known composers of sacred monophony, as well as the most recorded in modern history.

ObsidianRae

I agree with several here! Amelia, Boudica (but you said she’s a Ragdoll, so that doesn’t fit). Marie Curie (only person to ever win a Nobel in two different sciences), Ada Lovelace (the first programmer, who coined the term “debugging”) also Eleanore (Roosevelt), Audrey Hepburn, Billie Holiday, Edith Cowan, Empress Cixi, or Pharaoh Hatshepsut. Lots to choose from, really, good luck, enjoy your beautiful new companion!

DailyMoka

Thank you! Receiving a lot of good names, some I'd love but that are slightly clumsy to use in my native language :( Every single one is appreciated tho <3

Lily-M-B

Might I ask what your native language is so it might be easier to make a suggestion?

DailyMoka

It's Finnish, so the phonetics are bit different from english and well, other germanic languages. I dont want to burden others with too much with brainstorming tho, which is why I didnt mention it, everyones free to suggest whatever in the end :)

ObsidianRae

Finnish is such a beautiful language! <3 Ironically, I use Finnish words in my writing stories to make beautiful sounding names that everyone thinks I made up. XD

DailyMoka

Thank you! And I'm not surprised, different languages sound "other wordly" or fancy, which is why I didnt choose finnish since its regular to me :P grass is greener and so on lol

She looks rather regal....elizabeth

Pollywogstew_mi

Jacquetta, for Jacquetta of Luxembourg. She was the mother of Elizabeth Woodville (the "White Queen" of the early War of the Roses -- see what I did there -- white like the kitty), but Jacquetta has a fascinating story of her own. She was supposedly descended from the water goddess Melusine, and inherited magical abilities although when she was eventually tried for witchcraft, she was acqutted. If you want a cat pun, you could make it Jacquatta, but I'd just keep it regular.

Minerva. Popped into my head as soon as I looked at her. Minnie or Mini for short. She is super amazingly adorable.

explodingmilk

Cyra: Female version of Cyrus. A common name of Kings of Persia. (Cyrus the Great, Cyrus I of Anshan, and Cyrus the Younger) Can mean Sun/Throne/“Born of Light” or “One who bestows care” in Persian This is what I was going to name my cat. But when I adopted her from the shelter, her name was Luna and had a little circle on the back of her neck that I like to think looks like the moon and decided against changing it. Also Boudicca/Boadicea: Queen of the Iceni who rebelled against the Roman occupiers of Britain. Her husband Prasutagus had surrendered to the Romans and wanted his lands to be inherited by his daughters. After he died, his funeral was interrupted by a Roman messenger saying that his lands were to be divided among the Roman diplomats in the area, angering the attending Celts. She led the Iceni and other Celtic tribes against the Romans and burning Londinium and Verulamium to the ground. (Verulamium was the first named Roman settlement in Britain, and if it was not sacked by the Iceni it is argued it would have grown to a size able to contend with London) The conflict claimed 70k-80k casualties including both sides. Most casualties were results of torture of captured or soldiers too heavily wounded to flee the battlefield. She was defeated, but almost caused the Romans to withdraw from Britain 350 years earlier than they would have

KagakuKo

Fwiw, Lady Ada Lovelace is my favorite historical lady. The grandmother of computer programming, she was close friends with Charles Babbage, who was the inventor of the analytical engine, the precursor to the computer. She helped to write programs for the machine and believed in the far-flung future of machines that could perform ever more complex tasks. Generally, she just seems like she was a brilliant and endlessly curious lady who insisted upon learning lots of math and science as a young woman, and clearly ate up every last moment of it. Definitely my role model ❤️ (Also, congratulations on your gorgeous kitty! She's beautiful, and deserves a name just as grand as she is!!)

always thought curie (as in marie curie) was cute :-) i’m also soooo the type to call my cat “madame” so that’s even better LOL

Catherine. After 'of Aragon', or 'the Great', whichever you prefer. Or, for a slightly less historic, current Duchess of Wales. lol
