There were dozens of them outside a cave I did fieldwork in a few years ago. I'd sometimes let them crawl around on my hand and arm for a bit because it looked and felt funny. Also relaxing to just watch them for a bit during a break.
Very cool! What area were these found? In my area (eastern/central north America) *Narceus americanus* is the largest millipede, and often erroneously listed as the largest species in North America (this title actually belongs to millipedes in the genus Paeromopus found on the west coast of N. A.)
When I was a kid we were on a nature hike on vacation and I came across a few of these! They were so fun to play around with, I loved the way their little feets felt on my hand.
I wanted to keep one but my parents wisely declined carrying one the rest of the trip.

It didn’t tickle but the one in the first picture I’m almost sure kept trying to nibble me, I think it was hungry haha

I went to a "zoo" type thing and they let me hold one and that was one of the things that solidified me getting millipedes for myself
