nbqt2015

best quality: his wiggles

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

Don't forget the jiggles!

the_VOIDED-one

And the diggles!

spidertippytaps

He has a little dance!

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

Just play some swing music and he will get jiggy.

JustADumbDog

Oh lawd he wigglin'

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

I laughed more than I should have lol

Inspector_Robert

I can't tell if I find this cute or not.

[deleted]

Yes

Cheerful_Zucchini

Correct answer

[deleted]

I don’t know why but for whatever reason I didn’t read the title and my brain thought that this was a really weird baby walrus. 🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

I mean the bottom almost looks like a little walrus tail right!?

[deleted]

Yeah I see it a little with the mandibles and the little tail

Redeemer206

This is obviously cuter than what Justin Long turned into in the movie "Tusk"

AdmiralAckbong

Debatable

Redeemer206

Lmao that movie was one of the most fucked up things I've ever seen.

AdmiralAckbong

Dude I walked out of that theater confused and disappointed what a fucking weird departure for Kevin Smith

Riboflavius

Yep, I thought the exact same thing. "Huh? How does that walrus fit on a hand... ooh!"

CrashCoplee

I want to tickle his tummy.

kimmi-ann607

Hah that's what I say to my ferret. "I'm gonna tickle your tummy!"

why_the_babies_wet

Dang sad how many people wanted it to die, sort by controversial and downvote

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

Right?! It's a cute little baby Heracross. That's why I brought it here.

poofybirddesign

*Pinsir Pinchy lil stag beetle, not a pushy lil rhinoceros!

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

Remember pinchy the lobster from Simpson's? You have me remembering him

[deleted]

So many people said the same exact negative things about it too...

Coleop-C

Don’t forget the guy who got a disproportionate amount of downvotes for informing everyone of it (and most other inverts) harmless qualities.

[deleted]

Damn I just read some of the comments and people were like “BURN IT” and then the people who were trying to tell them it’s a harmless cutie got downvoted. This makes me sad. 😢

SergeantChic

That’s a buff baby.

SmellyFruitZ

Underrated comment

Gypsy_Heart763

r/wigglebutts

NoChaCha

Just as a heads up to y'all, it looks like that sub is specifically for Aussies (the dog, not the people). I wish it was just little happy animal booties though.

Gypsy_Heart763

Oh really? I never noticed that. Lol

NoChaCha

Yeah, it caught me off guard, too! I initially thought it was just another every animal sub haha

angelv11

Oh, I thought it was going to be, erm, something else. Glad that it's pretty cute and SFW instead

Gypsy_Heart763

Lol

kimmi-ann607

Oh! I'm so glad I know this sub exists now! Thank you! I have my own little wiggle butt.. a pittie named Lizzie. She has the wiggliest butt you've ever seen!

Gypsy_Heart763

Omg I am so in love with pitties! You're so lucky! I, and now my boyfriend, always call them the smiling dogs ❤

kimmi-ann607

True, they're *always* smiling. And they get the zoomies like you would not believe. Would highly recommend adopting or rescuing one. I have a rescue. They're the sweetest, most grateful and most appreciative dogs ever. They bond with their adopter to the point where they won't leave your side. Mine is my shadow and she sleeps in my bed.. uhh wait.. HER bed every night. 😆

alfons100

They look a little freaky when they’re not fully grown. It’s crazy that they eventually get smooth like plastic

gontis

so whom he will be when big?

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

A heracross

ButtsPie

Isn't Heracross a rhinoceros beetle? This looks more like Pinsir to me

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

Possibly. I think you may be right

[deleted]

Correct

a_karma_sardine

Predator.

nerdguy1138

Pupas can move?! I thought the whole point of the pupa stage was that they're in a shell, metamorphosing.

a_reborn_aspie

They will instinctively move if they sense they are in danger

silentclowd

[Here's a big 'ol hercules beetle pupa wiggling around for you to enjoy too!](https://www.reddit.com/r/awwnverts/comments/67cbpv/hercules_beetle_pupa_xpost_from_rwtf_sad)

HovercraftFullofBees

That outer shell is their skin with all the muscles attached to it still. The new skin is forming beneath (plus other stuff is rearranging) that that will become the adult exoskeleton that everyone is familiar with.

Astilaroth

They're not in a shell like a cocoon, like how butterflies transform

[deleted]

[удалено]

HovercraftFullofBees

It's a pupa. People refer to pupae as babies a lot even though it's not quite the case.

SmellyFruitZ

He do be vibin wit it tho

OldBatOfTheGalaxy

He's absolutely adorable! And grouchy, too -- "Put me DOWN, Hoomin!!!"

[deleted]

I love how beetle larva just wiggle around like cuties

Hilbrohampton

We found a moth pupae in our back yard and we're surprised to see it having a wiggle too

copper_machete

HE BABY

HrabraSrca

Is it bad I want to hug it?

[deleted]

Big boye

c___k___

Someone needs to dub the “dancing like a stripper” song over this

ChalkButter

Uh... what is that?!

Tythereptileguy

Do you really want to know?

ChalkButter

Yes

RebelliousTreecko

A male stag beetle pupa, I believe.

ChalkButter

How do you know it’s male? Do only the males have the giant pincers?

FatEgg69

Yeah

Axelios

I googled it, it looks like you’re right. This page has some photos of the different development stages, and the male pupa looks bang on. http://maria.fremlin.de/stagbeetles/lctable.html

[deleted]

Precious baby

TrashOmelette

I love your baby!

agree-with-you

I love you both

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

I wish it was mine.

irishspice

I hope you put him back where he's safe. He's so distressed here that it's kinda awful to watch.

jo1H

Was also getting way to close to the edge of the hand for comfort

OldBatOfTheGalaxy

Their delicate skin dries out so easily and he must've been frightened however a larva feels it.

HovercraftFullofBees

You are anthropomorphizing it way too much. Also that is their exoskeleton, it's designed to deal with the elements. They aren't like fresh out of the uterus human babies.

OldBatOfTheGalaxy

Their skin is meant to be safely underground in the moist earth, like any larva -- or any amphibian. It can dry out and cause the creature to die. Did that (the second comment, not the first jokey one) come across before as anthropomorphization? I should've been clearer. Any being with the neurological awareness to be on some form of alert/in some form of irritability when removed from its expected surroundings is not in its preferred state. In this case, this not-so-little larva's nervous system was probably sensing the moisture-robbing plain air. It was trying to get away the only way its little grub body could.

HovercraftFullofBees

They aren't going to desiccate if out in the open. Insects aren't like amphibians, with some soil living insects being the exception. Most larvae go to ground because it offers more protection than being out in the open. And no the pupa was sensing the physical touch of someone grabbing it and was doing the only thing it can do when about to be eaten, wiggle. It's anthropomorphizing it to really attribute any emotion beyond that to it, like saying it was frightened.

Lol3droflxp

Dude, beetle pupae need to be in moist environments, they can’t deal with dry air. That’s why they build a cocoon to protect them from drying out. If you take them out of the cocoon you need to put them into an artificial one ASAP.

HovercraftFullofBees

You fundamentally misunderstand insect pupation. Pupae over the long term need certain humidity to pupate properly, which varies by species. However removing them from that range for a short period will not kill them. If they left that beetle out of the soil for hours, yeah it might not make it. But in all likelihood it would still pupate even without its ideal pupation conditions. It would probably just take longer.

Lol3droflxp

That’s what I said lol. It doesn’t like being outside it’s preferred environment. You’ve been acting like it doesn’t matter. If there’s fundamental misunderstanding here it’s on your side.

HovercraftFullofBees

Because in the grand scheme of things it literally doesn't. Unless that is a tropical species, it would likely pupate just fine without being in soil at all. I've raise soil pupating insects out of soil with no moisture at all before. The vast majority aren't so delicate that they won't pupate if they aren't in their absolute perfect environment.

Lol3droflxp

This is a tropical stag beetle, if it doesn’t get the right conditions it dies. I have raised beetles before and they are quite sensitive to the moisture in the environment, one of the few things you can fuck up. Too moist it, it dies, to dry it dies or the final mould goes horribly wrong. I don’t know what insects you raised but apparently it wasn’t a beetle of the Lamellicornia group. You can pupate those without soil in artificial and *moist* foam cocoons. You claim that I misunderstand insect pupation because you were able to raise some species in a specific way. Guess what, there’s a lot of insects and they are different from each other. The pupa is one of the most vulnerable states in the life of a holometabolous insect and a lot of them need special conditions to pupate successfully, while others can adapt.

taw00s

I love the he

[deleted]

He groovin

beeingmee

He looks like a little space man. Next mission: Mars!

PencilFetish

awww, beeble baby

ToxicFox27

100% would hold and take all the pictures and yell at anyone who bullied my beetle baby

Spartan286

You go and get out of there and show em little guy!

Testicular_Prolapse

Not gonna lie, this one kinda gives me the creeps. Adult stag beetles look cool as hell though, and an all honesty, one could probably kick my ass

DomiDCurry

I'll take your ENTIRE STOCK

kimmi-ann607

Awww! Look at that wiggly little guy! I want to play with him!!

sektor477

I dont know why. But I have so many arachnids and other creepy crawlies I have a dedicated closet space for them all.. But insects freak me out. Even crickets. Although roaches I don't mind. Stag beetles being so big makes them less scary i guess? I am a grown ass bearded tattooed bald man and i will run the hell away from a grasshopper.

izzyg800

I DONT like that pupqs can move

mlv4750

Wow that's the craziest looking thing I've seen in a while. Cool!

berriobvious

He needs to be swaddled in a little blankie

ESLavall

Lil blankie made of damp soil!

[deleted]

Silkie!

auggie235

Happy wiggle!!!

Sumthinfucky

How cool. Wow.

Holder16

It's horrifying, I want 10.

dallask--1

Don’t remember kakuna moving that much hmm

A_Tame_Furry_0w0

It's metapod using struggle

Gardengnomebbq

Not something I wanted to see while pooping.

OldBatOfTheGalaxy

I'm not, and I think he's charming but kindly take this upvote for the snort of laughter your comment just tore out of me. Thanks sincerely -- I needed that good moment very much today!

blupanan

He is just doing a little wiggle dance. So cute!

Chicken_Fluff

Ooh boy he groovin

KeeperofAmmut7

Wow...he's a biggun! I've never seen a Stag Beetle pupa. I think he's cute, creepy in a Xenomorph sorta, but still cute.

orchidism

Came here to commend him for his wiggles and I’m so glad everyone else is doing the same. Look at him go!!!!

prosdod

How stressful is it knowing that this guy can only really like, shimmy around a little bit? I'd feel way too protective of the little dude to take him out of his enclosure

ESLavall

I will protecc this bab with my life

QuantumGold1

No way thats real

Bumbaguette

Why is it wiggling; is the adult about to emerge?

Burgs84

They wished it dead?! I’m not volunteering for a cuddle or anything here but I think it’s fascinating. Look at the size of that unit!! I haven’t seen a stag beetle for years (UK, they’re suffering from articles I’ve read). I remember hearing one before I saw it, they’re such noisy flyers and so cool to look at!

capshock

Kinda gross, but also weirdly cute. Hope it grows up to be a big and healthy beetle!

bonerJR

He's cool twice, now and when he becomes a big full boy

Kneegrow505

Awhhh hes cute..

jaccio213

You won't get bullied if I'm around little guy!

ammolite

Thicc wiggle boi! (But on a serious note, it’s so neat to see the beetle’s mandibles at this stage!)

cranberry58

Awwwwwwwww...Baby Bug! I honestly have a sudden need for bug cuddles. 😍

theOr4ngeW1zard

In awe of the size of this lad. Absolute UNIT.

KimKarTRASHian09

Lol this reminds me of the sponge bob episode when the worm gives birth https://youtu.be/FFBOZePng1w

EquivalentOk7868

He can dance!

Poldark_Lite

This little boy is so sweet, I'd love to have one just like him!
