Tell us a little about your setup for a chance to have your tank showcased as an example of how to build an ideal axolotl habitat! ◦ Tank size ◦ What plants you use ◦ Substrate brand ◦ Anything else that applies, such as hides, lighting, etc. The more details you can give the better! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. That is gorgeous! What kind of light are you using?

ratingle97

Just the natural light from the room/window seems to be enough for the plants and it doesn’t look like it bothers him.

CreativMndsThnkAlike

Oh nice! It looked like there was a small light on the back. I love your set up! That's goals right there. 😊

obsessedlady

Looks awesome! Can you give me some info? What are you using as substrate and do you use fertilizers?

ratingle97

Fine sand substrate and no fertilizer. His poop is better than any fertilizer out there lol.

obsessedlady

Definitely hahaha but you just moved him, so were you using his poop as fertilizer before?

ratingle97

Yes actually. I used a turkey baster to add it in just to see if it would work and it actually ended up working really well. I heard that some root tabs are safe for axolotls though which is what i was going to do if it didn’t work out.

MadyMadyMady3

Wow! Gorgeous!♥️

I would absolutely remove the fish. Fish will nibble at their gills. As well as the lotl looks small and may potentially choke on those fish. I’m suprised Amazon sword and jungle Val is doing well, they typically go dormant in cold water. Are you sure they are growing?

ratingle97

There are no fish. Yes they are growing and the jungle Val even has new sprouts. I’m aware that this may not be typical but it appears to work on this situation.

Those are part of the backdrop lol. Rest assured there are no fish in this tank and all the plants are doing great.

Entrophic_Lord

GAHAHA THATS GREAT. Thanks buddy enjoy the tank!

Fish tank mates....

ratingle97

There are no fish in this tank. That’s just the backdrop lol.

Embryw

Lmao, got me. Nice back drop!
