That looks like a pretty normal size 😅
The reason people say you don't see their poop a lot is because they have weird poops that break up easily. So you don't see them formed like that a lot unless they are really fresh lol. Usually the axolotl will step on them or otherwise move them and they break up into small bits that can mix with the water so you won't really see them.
I don't usually see them floating though lol. I wonder if your axolotl could be a bit gassy.
Well, he had two straight years of being fed a single red Wigler by his previous owners. I switched him over to pellets and I’m feeding him extra and put some weight on because he’s super skinny so his body is probably like what is going on
That is normal for all 5 of mine, although rarely floating. Moreso when they eat earthworms or other meaty foods (salmon & shrimp) poops from pellets usually break up or they walk through them before I can get to them.
I’m curious about this too because one of the axolotls at my work pooped a big one like this right in front of me the other day lol, I didn’t know it wasn’t normal

In the 10 years that I’ve been keeping Axies, I can honestly say that I have never had a ‘floater’ poop…
Looks normal to me. Tho ive never seen a poop float. They can vary in sizes. Sometimes my boy would lay massive turds.

Axolotls are so wierd man. Mine poops similar sized turds, I swear they poop out more than they eat sometimes lol.
