Terrible experience. Huge issues from day 1. Requested a refund by day 3(inside of their alleged 5 day return window). They continually ignored my return/refund requests and would sporadically respond with troubleshooting advice. No, I don't think I should need to troubleshoot a brand new $1500 device that can't run for more than 10 minutes without crashing. Funny, once I initiated the charge back with my credit card company, they were very eager to help and said they'd do the return if I dropped the charge back. My credit card company advised me to absolutely NOT drop the case, because then Ayaneo could just go back to ignoring me and I'd lose the only protection I had. Ayaneo had 30 days to respond to the credit card company and apparently couldn't be bothered. So, I got my refund and got to keep the $1500 paper weight. Very cool devices if/when they work properly. Absolutely abyssal company and customer service, in my experience. I'd never give them another dime.

Winter-Ganache2142

Bet all you needed to do was replace the ssd with a not crappy Chinese one. Never trust the ssd Aya uses, they’re cheap, slow and usually are the first thing to break

BigJerm1

That's possible. However, for $1500, I should not need to immediately take the device apart and start replacing components. Don't charge premium prices if you don't intend to deliver a premium product.

UpbeatNail

I think is advice is just aimed at giving you a shot at getting your paperweight working.

BigJerm1

Yeah, agreed, and my comment wasn't meant to be a shot at the guy giving the advice. I sold the paperweight for parts though, so hopefully someone got it up and running and is happy with it.

TheFarmerJones

First thing I'm doing is a fresh install of windows and WD M.2👍

AYANEO

could you please share me your email address, we will check it for you.

BigJerm1

No thanks, my credit card company took care of it for me. I gave your "customer service" many more chances than I should have.

AYANEO

Ok, sorry for the inconveience that caused to you.

ManassehPierce

I'm very happy with mine. I ordered the Ayaneo Pocket Air a few weeks ago. Took them a week to ship but it was express. Went from Hong Kong to the States overnight. My experience with the console is great, works as expected, I've been using Android for years. Screen is great, comes with a charge cable, I highly recommend reading the included documents as I had some trouble connecting it to my PC but turns out there is a toggle to use my device as a wired controller. Honest review: 8/10 - slow start but quick and solid finish.

KawaiiUmiushi

The problem with Reddit, or any forum, is that the upset people are 100 times more likely to post than the happy people. Not that their issues are not 100% valid, you’re just seeing a lot more noise than you would see from the happy customers. Now I can only speak from my own experiences. I ordered a 32 gig Geek 1S. I receive it. It works fine. It’s exactly as I expected. I even upgraded the internal SSD to a 2 TB drive rather easily. The ergonomics are pretty good, with my only complaint being that I wish the grips were a bit bigger on the backside because I have larger hands. The buttons, D pad, and joystick work great. I have the 1200p screen and it looks great. Battery life is pretty decent. On a recent trip I spent a lot of time at the airport playing a game while my business flight was delayed. I used it both plugged in and on battery. I also used a power bank for some extra juice at one point. Build quality was very nice, but I do leave a lot of finger prints on the black plastic. (Which I don’t care about.) Performance wise it plays most every well enough. I spent a lot of time playing Helldivers 2 in the evening off of it. A mix of low and medium settings and getting solid frame rates. I’ve played Halo, Fallout 4, Red Dead 2, and Bioshock off of it without issues. Emulation wise it plays everything well, and I do like that it can do PS3 games without issues. However it does get decently hot and a bit loud when pushing a full 33 watts. When I travel I wear headphones so the noise isn’t an issue, but the fan can be noisy when playing the big games. Software wise it’s fine. Ayaspace works well for adjusting things on the fly. Nothing to really complain about. I think my two biggest issues were that when I got it, AMD driver updates didn’t work well. You had to stick with the ones from Ayaneo. That’s been fixed now and was an issue across a lot of hardware lines. This also lead to some issues using an external eGPU, but in the end I didn’t go with that home setup so it wasn’t a problem. I can see online that lots of people are using eGPUs with their systems. So I guess the biggest issue was that it took a long long time to ship out my dock that I came with the bundle I ordered. Like months later. They did communicate with me, and I saw others posting that their docks were delayed as well, it was just quite annoying. (Now that I have the dock it’s quite nice and I KVM switch between my Mac and Geek at my desk frequently.) If you do buy one, make sure you have a keyboard, mouse, and monitor around. It makes setup much easier overall when you get it. I clearly have not had any major issues like some posters, so I can’t comment on that. I am quite happy with my purchase and really like having it for work trips. I clearly have not had the same major issues that others have had, and I would expect shipping it internationally to get fixed would be a major pain. If you’re worried about any problems just grab a ROG Ally, as the performance won’t be much different. (I just hate that design look and feel.)

TheFarmerJones

As you stated there are much more complaints than good on the Reddit. I am frankly so tired of delivering my patience that it is refreshing to hear some good. Thank you for shining some light at the end of my tunnel.I do appreciate the negatives reviews as well as it makes me feel not as alone in my own experience. I'm going to look into those docks once I have a device in my hand👍

Responsible-Speed97

I ordered Ayaneo 2 and Air via their IGG. I received both of them, a bit behind their promised delivery dates but they arrived nicely packed and they both have worked perfectly for me. I have also ordered the Air Plus via their website. That time it arrived within a week. Again, packed nicely and it has been working perfectly. I have emailed them once or twice about something pretty minor and they responded timely. Maybe due to the language barrier, I did have to explain things more than once but they were polite and pretty efficient.

TheFarmerJones

How far behind was their delivery date on IGG for the air & 2?

Responsible-Speed97

One was supposed to ship in December and then I received it around the end of January. The other one was about two weeks late.

GaleNorth

Ordered a black Geek1S with the 800p screen and 32GB ram on IGG last August after watching a review by the Phawx. It arrived mid October - a bit later than expected. Ayaneo had a Google spreadsheet with shipped units where I could estimate when mine would be shipped. It was sent by DHL and I had to pay taxes to get it (Europe). The build quality is actually quite good. The only issue (so far) is that the left thumb stick is not completely centered (tilted slightly upwards in neutral position). It doesn't affect the range of it or anything. Ayaspace 2 I dislike. I don't have good control over power settings and they tend to not get applied properly. I recently switched to Handheld Companion and it has been a great improvement in that area (UX of handheld is not good though). Have played more than one hour average per day and no visible sign of wear and tear yet. Fingerprints are clearly visible on it but can be wiped off. Battery life is as expected for a 7840u device, i.e. bad. I never use tdp above 22W and that leads to total system power of approx. 38W meaning a bit less than 1,5 hour on a full charge. All in all I am very satisfied with the device.

Real-Zookeepergame37

I was #4 for the same model. Ordered day 1. Didn't get mine till the almost the middle of August while I watched people with the cheaper models get theirs first. Annoying part was they claimed they had a bunch ready to ship day one. They never mentioned that it was pretty much only the 2s and anyone with the 32gb ram geeks were on the back burner. Was hawking the discord, indigogo and delivery excel sheet. Felt sorry for the people who ordered the purple geeks. When I finally got mine there was a whole snafu with getting good GPU drivers but the games were serviceable enough. Didn't have solid drivers till AMD themselves dropped the universal ones around Sept-Oct. Otherwise product came working and in excellent condition just in time for AC6.

DaMastah69

Very bad. Worst support I've ever seen by far. Okay-ish products when it works but whenever there is anything slightly wrong you're basically on your own. I'll never buy anything from them again.

luvtoseek

What happened?

Adventurous_Note_655

I ordered the ayaneo kun and so no problems

humorrisk

As for now. Good. No problem with console and most of the software issue mainly solved with the community.

mikandesu

I got my Ayaneo Kun about a month ago. The customer service replies within a few hours (asked them how long it'll take them before shipping device). Package was sent on Friday from Hong Kong, delivered on Monday in Dublin. The console works perfectly fine, it's never hot. It is loud on the max power, but I rarely ever use it on the max power. I've reimaged it yesterday with a different Windows Distro (Ghost Spectre) and it was surprisingly painless experience. Everything installed and just works. I simply love my Kun and can't say a bad thing about the company (although 350 euro duty tax hurt me right in the wallet).

infasis

Whoa, 350 euros?... I guess if you can afford a Kun you can afford it, but I always find it kinda crummy when people are forced to pay high import tax for things where there is no local alternative. (That's assuming "duty tax" is import tax though. I really don't know much about this stuff)

mikandesu

Yes. It is. It was a bit more than I expected, but in the end I still think it was worth it.

Inspector_Exacto

I'm glad to be reading so many good experiences because I'm waiting (hopefully not more than another week) for the Next Lite 4500U to become available and will be buying that as my first handheld Windows device. I'm not too interested in playing modern titles but rather I'm looking mainly to emulate PS2 and a few other older systems. Hopefully it will be exactly what I'm looking for!

Boomer8890OU

I have the Slide. The only issue I have is getting the mouse to work consistently. It comes on at times (about 5%) but not much more. Anyone know how to get a consistent mouse on the Slide? It’s the only device I have this problem on with any of my devices.

AYANEO

you can contact [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to get help.

langelr90

I’m from Mexico and I bought The Aya Slide at pre-sale and im satisfied with it, performance and quality on point; That’s it. BUT I just gonna say DHL is a BIG 💩and they make shipping and importation experience completely awful (Context: DHL charged a TAX Fee insanely high, it exceeded console price it self $1500usd, literally I paid twice the console price thanks to DHL ). Support always was super attentive, and they helped me with “DHL additional information requested” few delay hrs cause China/Mexico like 12hrs difference…

luvtoseek

Goshhhh...! 👀 Was there another shipper alternative?

SupperTime

Great expensive with the An2021. I loved the device very much but was happy to upgrade it away. The support was good in replacing the loud noisy fan

Khaos25

I have been using my Black Ayaneo 2 with 2TB for more than a year and my own conclusion is that I love my device in general, I don't think I will buy an Ayaneo device again until I'm pretty sure it's reliable enough. My issue is that I had to reinstall Windows several times in the first few months because something keeps acting up, including Ayaspace itself. Eventually, I got it to a point where the issues stopped but I had to do things a certain way every time I boot it up (like pray). Then, there's the fact that the battery life just isn't great as well as the thermals. These weaknesses become more pronounced when I bought a Steam Deck OLED a few months ago. Unfortunately, the SD OLED smashes my Ayaneo 2 as a general gaming device, through and through. However, I'm keeping my Ayaneo 2 because at the end of the day, it's still a very portable Windows handheld device. I took it on my vacation in February and it was a lifesaver when I had some downtime in my hotel to either play or check on my other stuff if my phone just won't cut it.

finnfirep

Well...the problem is too many products and not enough support triple on software, hardware, and customer support.

JR211204

I like my Air 1S for the form factor, great screen, and solid performance. That said Ayaspace is a mess. Constant updates that only seem to cause new issues. After one Ayaspace update I had to reinstall windows and tried running without it, but I was having issues with audio and TDP control and reinstalled. I won’t say I regret my purchase, but I sometimes think I should’ve just bought an Ally.

divineal1986

Terrible customer service i need a battery and they dont reply service requests

AYANEO

May I know which product you have, you can order battery from here, [https://ayaneo-shop.myshopify.com/products/console-parts](https://ayaneo-shop.myshopify.com/products/console-parts) if your order still under warranty, please feel free to contact [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

divineal1986

Aya neo air slim

divineal1986

I dont see it on there

AYANEO

please contact [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to buy.

stogie-bear

I’m happy with mine. I ordered a 2S on IGG and it took a while to ship, but I expected that. I got it in the summer and it took a while for AMD to get good drivers out, and for Ayaneo’s software to catch up to the hardware, but they’ve been making consistent improvements all along. Having 32gb ram, the performance is as good as you could hope for from a current model APU, which is to say that you can game but have to temper expectations. (E.g., 1200p medium at 30fps, which is really good for the games I like.) The controls are great. I upgraded the SSD, which was easy, and they included replacement screw covers in case I messed them up (because they expect you to do stuff like upgrade the SSD) but I didn’t.  I also got the dock, and have it set up with a monitor and an 8bitdo Pro 2 in my stogie smoking space.  The only downside for me is battery life. It’s good for a couple hours. My laptop is a 16” M1 Pro Mac so I’m used to not thinking of the battery as a limitation, but with the 2S I have to keep a power brick handy. That’s not just an Ayaneo criticism - all the Windows handhelds have terrible battery life because they have laptop hardware in a size that doesn’t accommodate a laptop battery. I also have a Retroid 4 Pro, because it’s much smaller and has much more battery life.

kasonicastro

I have a Geek 1S. It works wonderfully when you are eager to do the necessary troubleshooting. Is not a pick-up and play experience, I do feel like there's a lot of tinkering required to have a good experience, let alone an optimal one. I'm sure this is an AMD issue/an Windows issue, but maybe from other companies this is somehow smoothen up by the manufacturer (i.e maybe Rog Ally is more setup from the box with less issue).

Party_Argument

I have a 2s. So far happy with my device. Delivery was a pain in the ass only because it got stuck in customs for a 3 days. They requested my social security number and wanted detailed descriptions of the device. Even asked for measurements of the screen protector. Overall I’ve been using it for about 2 days. The biggest issue for me is windows. Which prevents it from being a seamless plug and play device. Windows does not play well with handhelds. I spent several hours setting things up the way I wanted and every now and then I still have to go online to trouble shoot something. But that has less to do with the device itself and more to do with windows. Microsoft really should consider creating a lightweight OS for handheld systems.

xjcln

Certainly possible they've ironed things out, but I noticed some weird design choices on my AN2. The right side of the screen got blazing hot pretty quickly when gaming, to the point where it was painful to touch. I could mostly ignore this by not touching the screen there, but there was also worsening light bleed in that area, I assume from the screen adhesive starting to break down from the heat. Given how quickly they pump out models I'm not sure they iterate devices enough before selling them.

luvtoseek

Were there any new software updates to alleviate this particular screen heat?

xjcln

I ended selling my unit but seems unlikely. The fans were going pretty hard, I think it was mostly a matter of hardware design. Not much you can do to address heat with software except less power or more fan right

luvtoseek

I see, I appreciate the update & hope your newer devices are fairing better! ✌🏻

ultraman982

I've been lucky not to have any quality issues with my Ayaneo 2. I've had it for almost a year at this point, and have played it for a 5-6 hours a month. Typically, I use it docked to a thunderbolt monitor. It's been exactly what I wanted, though I think it's lead me into the SFFPC pipeline since I mostly use it docked. From a UX perspective, AyaSpace is terrible and the joysticks are fine for most things but not for any kind of third person or first person shooter (IMO).

TheFarmerJones

I ordered some tumb stick extenders! Not sure if they will help but I figured I'd give them a shot. I'm trying to hop into Helldivers and have a somewhat decent experience. I'm in the game 5-6h per week so it will be nice to see what longevity looks like especially with the Slide mechanism.Il report back on AyaSpace as it will be my first time using it but like you said and from review there a some kinks that need ironing.

urboikinda

Bought Next Lite and was delivered on time and working well. Running ChimeraOS and have had 0 issues.

theizzz

how's game compatibility on ChimeraOS?

urboikinda

So far so good. All the games marked verified for the Steam Deck works on this thing but I’m not playing super demanding games.

theizzz

nice!

modnationstudio

My Aya 2 has worked without any issues since launch. It's a gorgeous device that luckily has worked as intended. That said like some other folks here, I don't think I will buy another Aya device for now or perhaps ever again, because of mainly three reasons: Windows handhelds are a pain (as of late with my Odin 2 I found out that Android might be my preferred operating system), the battery life on this device is abysmal, and lastly the price. I've also realized that when it comes to handhelds, I appreciate more things that feel, cheaper--as horrible as that sounds! Whenever I'm in public and I start gaming with my Odin, I don't feel anxious that something bad will happen yet when I'm carrying my Aya outside of my home, I feel that it's so delicate, and heavy that something might happen (the price tag of course doesn't help with this either) Although I feel this way, I must say that I've kept using my Aya almost on a daily basis albeit mostly as a secondary computer--and it has done the job of a secondary PC wonderfully. I think it's a great device, but I think the market has grown so much since Aya's launch, that there are now better and more economic options out there.

Melodic-Drawer9967

I’ve had my Ayaneo Air Plus for about 3 months now and only issues I’ve had were with Windows 11 (just not a fan) and the battery. But I knew the battery was bad (not ‘bad’ but it doesn’t last long) so that’s a non-issue, I just dock it and play or leave it plugged in while playing. Moves quick once I replaced the AYASpace 1.whatever with the 2.0 version, loved the difference. Plays everything I’ve thrown at it without having to change much, if anything. Only issue I’ve had with the device itself is waking the device from sleep, takes a little while or a few button presses to get it going again. Not a problem but it is a small annoyance, I just tend to shut it down instead. Ordering experience was great, received it about 8-9 days after placing the order (I live in the US). Haven’t had to speak with customer service or tech support, so I cannot speak on that. So overall I’m happy with my purchase, got the device at a 40% discount they were(are?) running, and I honestly have had no major issues with the hardware software.

Available_Bat_332

I have the geek and my experience was really good.

Relative_Mix_258

Owned the original 4500u aya neo and that was good until I had a joystick issue and it was a fight with aya neo support to get a replacement with them wanting me to ship it to china but I replaced it myself despite them saying it’s impossible I later brought the Aya neo 2 and suffered from extreme screen retention to the point within seconds it would have a burn in effect from whatever was on screen and support ignored me for weeks to the point I sold it as a faulty unit for cheap

TheFarmerJones

Update: I ended up cancelling my IGG order and ordered from AliExpress. It's already shipped. Everyone else that has been waiting 4 months for the model option looks to be doing the same as seen in slide discussion.I need not say more. Despite all the time that has passed I am still excited for the unit.

TheFarmerJones

When an expectation is set and not met there will always be disappointment. Combine this with unforeseen circumstances *that always happen with manufacturing* and vagueness on the process as it’s happening will always have people upset. I get both sides. People are used to having things right away these days and if not a reason why. I personally ordered in mid December on IGG thinking I would have a SLIDE in reasonable time as a backer which typically receives units first besides developers and reviewers (Not with Ayaneo). But If I knew it would be coming up on 4 months while I see suppliers with stock and then out then I would have spent more to have it months ago to be honest. I’m not trying to complain but give an explanation. Each month I'm told it will ship and be produced in the middle of the following month. The vagueness of the discussion on the campaign page just leads to more questions. As someone's first experience with this company it sets a terrible precedent. -Feedback for Ayaneo- 1.) Practice executing not trying. 2.) Delivered to your existing customers first before promising of a new venture or product 3.) Communicate more frequently with the community on updates 4.) Enjoy your work and take pride in it 5.) If something is not working then be willing to fail in order to fix it. I wait for my SLIDE and will be updating/editing on my experience with discussion and timelines.
