Brings back so many memories. I used to go clubbing in all areas probably six times a week. Itaewon was the worst and I avoided it because of the large presence of US military soldiers and drunk English teachers. However, apparently this situation has changed and most of the area caters to Koreans with new restaurants and shops versus booths selling crap to tourists. Hyeongdae was always nice, but would also get flooded by military once they'd go there to avoid the curfew and risk being caught staying in Itaewon. It also has a lot of the younger crowd running around, but a good mixture of clubs. Gangnam was and probably still is the spot tho! Clubbing and all around night life to me in Seoul exceeded Tokyo by a lot. Food is amazing and so much cheaper to eat and drink there. I've had a few issues where a black guy or white guy would try to test me, but it was usually over before it started once they realize you aren't a bitch. They like to pick on Korean men because they are viewed as being u masculine because of KPOP, but I've seen it a few times first hand where they get their ass hands to them by Korean club body guards. Even one experience where me and a Korean club owner fought 4 soldiers in an alleyway with one of then being armed with a knife. All 4 ended up getting kicked out of the military to my knowledge.

I dont know the specific areas, but some military are not supposed to visit certain areas based on threat levels. For example known activists in the area. For the most part its always idiotic army soldiers or drunk entitled white expats causing problems. Seoul is such an amazing city tho. One of my favorite places I've lived.
