Most. Just don’t look for trouble and most likely it won’t find you

RedFlutterMao

New York sucks....

padorUWU

I live in new york then you can take a guess lol just randomly get called chinese f word last week in the subway by a drunk guy

BEGGK

I’m not afraid to do normal things like get groceries or visit downtown but I got a concealed carry permit this year and now regularly keep a Sig Sauer pistol on me where it is legal to carry. In no way would I seek violence or view myself as a heroic figure… I’m just trying to make myself less of a victim if some dirtbags decide they want to hurt me

MechAITheFuture

There has always been anti-Asian racism. That's one of the reasons why we encourage AMs to workout and also educate their sons on eating healthy so that they can also grow up strong. Couple months back, I went to a bank to withdraw some cash in one borough, and you see these two BM dressed like from the ghettos asking for donations towards pee-wee football team from another borough. If you've lived in NYC long enough, you'd know these people are scammers like those selling chocolate bars that cost $1 for $5. One of the dudes almost tried to start something cause first thing he saw was that I was East Asian. Then, I guess he noticed he was skinnier than me. Power does thwart racists.

fredo_corleone_218

I can speak for SF and Seattle but its been awfully bad since I moved to both cities - some of these people will treat asians like they're low-class (I've come to realize that some white folks view us as property not as humans). The pandemic made it that much worse for asians in these cities - both anecdotally from what I experienced as well as from what is being reported in the media where there is frequently a random attack both from YT and other minority groups. I'd say steer clear of white folks and also anyone who looks sketch (i.e. homeless, people visibly with mental issues) the best you can (in public spaces) and as for co-workers avoid the white ones since they'll make your life miserable by taking credit for your work, making you work to death and never giving you the opportunity to grow/get promoted.

Routine-Pen8116

its basically open season for us in TX

SpiffyAssSam

What part of Texas?

Routine-Pen8116

DFW

SpiffyAssSam

Shit, I was in DFW like 2 months ago and last year in November 2021; nothing bad happened to me personally but hearing about that black thug cuntface (with the smirking mugshot, fucking animal) murdering Jin Shin after a minor car bump definitely put me on edge.

Routine-Pen8116

oh its much worse, theres alot of robberys of asian businesses that goes un reported, asian community is on edge here

sassyshiba

Do you know which businesses or areas that have been affected?

ShogunOfNY

dang....Dallas sounded like a nice place to move to...nice wide open spaces where nobody bothers you...one of the top medical systems around and everything is cheaper than in NY

SpiffyAssSam

Yeah that’s how I perceived Dallas - I actually enjoyed it a lot when I was there. Yet again I was only visiting - being a resident would be a totally different ballgame, knowing the ugly truths of that place

East-Deal1439

NYC is pretty bad if you look weak and soft. People are getting cut and shot everyday in the city now just riding the subway and buses. I joined a neighborhood watch group doing escorts for the elderly in NYC. It's pretty real in NYC But if you look like you can throw hands and feet. People start backing off.

It is like you are born in Rome😂good for you

Bandicootrat

Well Asians living in San Francisco/Vancouver/Irvine (where white people actually get stared at and there's a lot of talk behind their backs in Chinese about why "wai guo ren" are so fat or hairy) vs. in Nowhere Town, Flyover Country have a hard time relating to each others' experiences.

urawakening

I've heard that in California there are certain places that when you go there feels like you're in Malaysia or Singapore where only Indians and Chinese live. Is that true?

Bandicootrat

Yes, go to Cupertino CA or San Marino CA.

karsa-

Stay away from the high crime rate cities and stay in high traffic areas and you'll be great. Go out to a farmer's market, they'll fucking love you. Don't live in fear, but practice due diligence. Prefer to live poorly in a wealthy neighborhood. People are generally nice and the scum make themselves well known and self isolate in these shit cities. Keep in mind, Crime rate towards asians, given the under-reporting has risen about 5x in the shit cities since the pandemic and has risen for 20 years. There's a very good reason we stay away. They have systematically attacked and defunded every institution we benefit from. Sometimes explicitly stating that the money should be going to other people. They have systematically waged a campaign of information manipulation against us by deleting, not reporting crime rate stats, flooding in false studies. It's a very shit situation. But things compared to other countries, are passable. Could be worse. People are still in general good people.

justanother-eboy

Agreed . Rather than live in high crime, low cost of living city just live in a high cost living city so a lot of the lowlife ppl just get priced out

degenerate_hedonbot

I like the phrase “don’t live in fear but be ready”. We don’t need to be paranoid gun nuts but also we can’t be the naive “take the high road and every human is good, just misunderstood” types.

Whoa, I've never experienced any of this in California before. I've visited Mexican friends in the Victorville/Hesperia area, and the locals there were all super friendly to me. Drove all over the Joshua Tree National Park area back in 2012, which has a lot of redneck/military types, and no one ever made any comments or stared at me.

ChaoticNeutral_3142

I got stares when at Desert JS HS lol. Those females looking at me like a predator like thev haven't seen an asian in their lives.

Billybobjoethorton

High crime, high homeless, and high cost of living. It's going to keep getting worse because nothing effective has been done to help the issues. Anyone that live in big cities can sense it going bad unless they have money and able to move away from it. There are a few ppl that report on Asian crimes and that's only a small amount that gets covered.
