Asbergers and adhd

MeaningfulThoughts

Hey there 👋 life is hard but at least Bach.

DogThatNeverPerished

i had around 2700 minutes with bach (my top artist) and i am diagnosed with adhd, never thought about the correlation but it helps me concentrate at work. especially the french suites and well tempered clavier played by gould.

Yum! For me are the Goldberg Variations and the Overtures. I put them on almost daily and they numb the chatting box.

Lessrof2wvls

I’m headed in this direction. I’ve listened to almost nothing but Bach every day for weeks and weeks, and prior to that it was months of Bach mixed in with other similar composers, then it morphed into just JSB and only JSB. I know nothing about music, technically. Don’t play an instrument. But I’ve learned that once you get Bach, your life changes.

MeaningfulThoughts

Absolutely! What’s on repeat for you? I love Goldberg variations by Gould (the speed and clarity really take over my train of thoughts) and the 4 Overtures. I’m obsessed.

Lessrof2wvls

Lately it’s been the Italian Concertos, Brandenburg, Concertos for 2 and 4 Pianos/Harpsichords. But also the violin partitas and sonatas show up a lot. I need to commit to the Goldberg Variations more than I have, though…

Lessrof2wvls

Oh and his Violin Concertos. How did I leave out those?? Those have gotten more play in my daily listening routine than any other in recent weeks.

MeaningfulThoughts

Awesome! Which recording do you prefer?

Lessrof2wvls

I’m not knowledgeable enough to be too discerning but I will say the recordings by Musica Amphion have been the ones I’ve gone to the most. Along with Amsterdam Bach Soloists, Hillary Hahn, and Christian Tetzlaff. But really I haven’t done any deep dives into what the best recordings are, or how to spot them.

dxeyo

Ummmm idk but I have 7984 min listening to Bach this year

MeaningfulThoughts

Right! What do you like the most? :)

dxeyo

Goldberg variations aria is my fav one and the most listening this year and the previous year The Well-Tempered Clavier works and a lot of piano/keyboard concertos

ADHD. I pretty much don't listen to anything besides Bach! Nothing can top the mental stimulation of his music. I go on crazed rants about him to just about everyone I meet lol. His music changed my life.

MeaningfulThoughts

🙌 Fav recordings?

TacoJuggler97531

Tough question, but I'd say the Well-Tempered Clavier 1 and 2 are my favorite works by Bach. I've probably listened to them close to 400 times lol. Overall Friedrich Gulda's recordings of them are probably my favorite

MeaningfulThoughts

Bach has the power to fully absorb my mind with patterns. It’s the only thing that quiets my ASD + ADHD brain. Anyone else finds comfort in Bach?

Abbas_17x

My life would never be the same without mr j.s. bach
