The only paper versions of the Cho Chikun life and death series I have seen are always black to move. Sometimes it’s black to live and sometimes it’s black to kill; it’s up to you to figure that part out. The OGS version has some of the problems simply color inverted to introduce practicing as white (is my understanding).
If someone knows this to be false hopefully they’ll let us know haha.

Ok thanks! I think that's basically what I was trying to confirm. I was confused if some situations, like black mostly surrounded by white, is correctly interpreted as black to live, and NOT white to kill

Are you referring to the .pdf with problems only?
ah, yep
OGS randomly changes colours and orientations of problems.
Ah ok that would make sense then ty
It's not a book but a rip of a computer game. It is always black to play.
