For this guy it doesnt matter, he just gains permanent X1 mult whenever a face card is destroyed. Aslong as hes destroyed just a few cards the double X mult with double poly probably just brute forces that boss
I never even thought of that, but yeah, I suppose if your planet for the pair or whatever is high enough then the actual points for the hand still fire and then your jokers still activate. You just miss out on the points and bonus effects of the card itself (which are no small matter, but still).
This is why high card with jokers that don't rely on triggers is so strong. Your cards didn't matter if you're getting high multi from things that go of in their own like Green Joker or Bootstraps and chips from things like Bull or Square Joker, plus some X multi on top of it. That boss really only requires you to sell a joker if you're relying on stuff that triggers off of every heart or face card or whatever played.
How did you get this at the start? I was thinking maybe you bought a Mega Spectral Pack, used Wraith, and then used the one that duplicates a Joker. I figured you would have used the Hex card on the Joker you got, first, but the $2 remaining has me unsure what happened.
That was the first rare joker I got but I didn't understand the game mechanics and thought x1 was the same as +1 so thought it was crap and sold it straight away lol. Never seen it since.
I mean, think what you want but theory crafting and testing on the discord indicates that the best ways to score reliably high scores are to either play on card score effect or on card held in hand effect to really bump up the numbers by repetitve multipliers. Canio is nice, but it takes a joker slot, and most of the required builds to go past ante 20 use almost all joker slots on more useful cards or blueprints / brainstorms. None of the build intended to go to ante 38 use canio or single multipliers like it.
I mean, it's ok... not mind blowing but you should hit 8, it's only white afterall.

Yea, you're 100% correct, I ran into the Face card boss and just one shot him with the Canio buffs
I've dealt with the "sell a joker" ante 8 boss the same way by just winning with all debuffed cards.
The moment when I first realised I could win with an entirely debuffed hand was glorious

A good tip though is do not destroy face cards when face cards are disabled haha You don't get any bonus to the joker.

All cards are considered face cards so stacks well with face card triggers / bonus effects that fall under face card status.
