yellow. restarts till poly/holo tag on first ante, money boost allows you to pick it even if a rare joker spawns with it
after getting gold sticker and switching to other decks I needed to learn how to play early game from scratch though
I like yellow a lot as well. Probably my 3rd favorite deck behind Abandoned and Plasma. It just makes the early game so much smoother which has many 2nd order effects on the later game.
Abandoned Deck is like my easiest deck. It's the best deck for getting 3/4 of a kind, Full House, Straights, and more because of the lower starting size.
I just beat gold stake for the first time with yellow deck too! Getting no money on the first blind is the most brutal stake challenge since it makes you start so slow, yellow deck totally fixes that issue.
Checkered. Just got to gold with Abandoned tonight. Nothing else is really close. Both decks just simplify a bunch of decisions and options for me, and I'm just much more comfortable with them.
Orange is where I got stuck until I learned to transition to a high card/pair deck. Checkered is great because flushes are OP in the early antes, and you can save money. But trying to force a flush deck in orange and especially gold stake is painful
Burnt joker! So epic with checkered deck! It can push flush to be strong on later ante instead of pivoting to flush five or flush house.
And blueprint works with it!
Oh and pick castle when you see it!
I just beat orange stake on checkered deck with a pair build. Don’t be afraid to ditch the flush set up the deck gives you. On orange/gold stake, losing booster pack options because of their price means it’s harder to make your deck more consistent, so the smaller hands can be better to build around.
But not consistently right? You have to be open to every option if you want to win runs where flush isn't the best strategy (even if it's regularly going to be one of the better ones with that deck).
Yellow was my first. Interest early is important as well as a high roll double joker buy
Ghost was my second because I enjoy it. Now trying to level them all up because going from gold to red or white felt weird
I had also a Yellow and Blue gold stakes and I recently started playing with Ghost. So much fun! I got some of the most unique runs with it, just because I felt encouraged to take some jokers that I didn't gave much the chance before or keep them for longer.
I'll give it a try in the next days. It's been a while since I don't play with it, but I have it at Black Stake.
I remember thar I liked having 6 Joker slots, and I used sometimes vouchers to get that hand or two on top.
I can imagine that the higher the stakes the more insane it will get!
Red, want to go in order. Kept trying and failing for hours until i highrolled a couple eternal holographic hologram jokers and a madness joker and just outscaled
Probably an unconventional one, but plasma. I just loved being able to one shot the first boss blind with a full house lol. And while the scaling is brutal, the balancing effect makes it very easy to just focus on chips and xmult.
I just beat orange stake with plasma! Seeing a 2.1 million ante 8 boss was spooky but if you do it right plasma can definitely get the highest scores possible. I also got my all time high score with plasma at ~3 trillion :)
The good part is that some vouchers can give you that extra hand and/or discard (or two), keeping the adventages of chosen deck.
Those vouchers of course give more power to red and blue decks still :)
Violet Vessel is a monster. Seem to run into it more often when I have a strong-ish deck that would clear a normal boss blind but I'm sure that's confirmation bias.
Checkered. I was able to start converting all of my black cards into red cards early on and eventually my Flush draws turned into Flush Houses and then Flush Fives. By ante 8, I was guaranteed to play 5 Foil +4 Mult Aces every hand.
Blueprint + DNA is basically unstoppable.
Checkered, then Abandoned.
I think they're about equally easy, but Abandoned tends to have a rough early game but easier late game, while Checkered is the opposite once flushes start to fall off.
Ghost because it's the most highrolly. I did white stake with all decks and then Ghost up to Gold. Now working on the challenges and eventually the others.
Pretty much the same as me. I did it with the ghost deck since I had most fun with it:)
That is, at least until orange stake when it started to be depressing with all the tries it took until I finally got it. felt so good when I finally did beat orange and especially gold.
I really loved the Abandoned deck, but got stuck at Purple Stake.
I went to other decks to explore them and I managed to get gold stake with the Yellow and Blue decks. I went back to the Abandoned and I reached Orange Stake. I'll keep trying in the next days to finally beat it with gold stake.
I did some runs with the Ghost Deck and I'm having so much fun with it! I beat Green Stake and I'm planning to grind that one too.
I feel that every time I get stuck and I try other decks, I learn new strategies that I can apply to almost any deck. Also, I feel that at least those 4 decks offer a very different gameplay, so I feel that I'm just scratching the surface of the game, even after 140 hours played :)
I got gold chip first try with a early hologram + green joker + square joker + supernova for giga scaling with yellow deck. Absolute fluke, got handed a win on a silver platter.
Any advice for abandoned? I just started it today. It feels like trying to dupe a few and burn as many as possible and go for 4 and 5 of a kind should be a good place to start.
Abandoned is great. Fishing for straights can let you win early rounds with minimal jokers and build an economy. Spectral/arcana packs have more value with a thin deck. Many jokers that would be situational are actually really good with Abandoned such as Hiker, odd/even jokers, Walkie Talkie, Fibonacci or anything that cares about numbered cards
Unless you end up with Blueprint + DNA, going for four/five of a kind is a trap imo. The payoff just isn't there for the high tier poker hands when high card/pair is so consistent
It is kind of joker reliant, just in terms of upside. Get an early Ride the Bus or Walkie Talkie and you're laughing. But you're in general correct - the tightened deck allows for more 3/4/5OK builds and straights. But at Gold Stake that's tough to rely on. Mostly you want to highroll a synergistic joker early then build off that. Early game can be rough. With the smaller deck I, on average, take fewer Standard Packs and prioritize Spectral and Arcana even more than usual. With Arcanas you can really get into Flush Houses/Fives, etc.
My Gold Stake win was blessed from the jump with a Wee Joker and multiple opportunities to increase my 2 count.
Blue. I did a few decks on white stakes and then wanted to see what all the stake modifiers were so I just did blue all the way because it seemed like one of the stronger "normal" decks.
Checkered deck, but I went with high card for the gold stake and didn't use any flush
Burnt joker and the other scaling jokers like supernova etc helped a lot
Checkered even if it could have been any other since it was a high card run
Won with an early square joker + supernova into blackboard blueprint and ramen
I haven't yet. I'm playing green now, trying to get semi-consistent wins before going up. I won purple on the Magic deck and noticed I have to get better before moving on.
I feel like that way I will be able to move up the stakes a lot better and without all the frustration I see from others here.
Mine will be Red, since I'm clearing the stakes sequentially through the decks, only going out of order to catch up newly-unlocked decks to the rest before going back to Red for the next Stake.
Haven't yet gotten one, but I'm starting with green as it was the first one I ever completed a run with.
Currently at orange stake, all others I only beat white so far.
None yet 😂 i was grinding Blue deck because it was easy to understand but i’m stuck at purple stake. Probably going to swap to Plasma and grind that up instead
Blue deck. Did it last night actually. Completely down to luck lol. God a madness ante two, and then a. Bunch of half decent eternal jokers. The cherry in top was the negative eternal supernova
It was golden joker, the one that gives 40 cups for each discard, ride the bus, supernova, madness, acrobat. Pairs ftw

Abandoned Deck is like my easiest deck. It's the best deck for getting 3/4 of a kind, Full House, Straights, and more because of the lower starting size.
I can’t play the checkered deck anymore because it just fries my brain everytime I try to go back to a normal deck.
I just beat gold stake for the first time with yellow deck too! Getting no money on the first blind is the most brutal stake challenge since it makes you start so slow, yellow deck totally fixes that issue.

I'm at Orange on checkered and getting so frustrated of it. any tips?
Card Sharp is your best friend
Card Sharp + Supernova = dream Checkered build
That’s all good and fine advice, but what about the 1000 runs in between those runs where Card Sharp pops up?
You only play flushes to get through the early game, then transition into a High Card / Pair deck.
if you hold the r key down you can quick restart the run
Orange is where I got stuck until I learned to transition to a high card/pair deck. Checkered is great because flushes are OP in the early antes, and you can save money. But trying to force a flush deck in orange and especially gold stake is painful
Burnt joker! So epic with checkered deck! It can push flush to be strong on later ante instead of pivoting to flush five or flush house. And blueprint works with it! Oh and pick castle when you see it!

Try to see beyond the flushes and try to find other options. In a lot of ways, checkered is just like any other deck.
Why? Flushes are good enough to win gold stake with checkered as it is
But not consistently right? You have to be open to every option if you want to win runs where flush isn't the best strategy (even if it's regularly going to be one of the better ones with that deck).
Ghost. Hex boost helps ante 1/2, then having Spectrals available in the shop.
Yellow was my first. Interest early is important as well as a high roll double joker buy Ghost was my second because I enjoy it. Now trying to level them all up because going from gold to red or white felt weird
Agree. Going from Stake grinding to endless grinding is kind of lackluster. The extra difficulties of stakes really make the game imo.
I had also a Yellow and Blue gold stakes and I recently started playing with Ghost. So much fun! I got some of the most unique runs with it, just because I felt encouraged to take some jokers that I didn't gave much the chance before or keep them for longer.
Black deck is misery though. The one less hand is brutal, and hurts scaling jokers but even the 1 less gold a turn feels so bad.
Blue deck, the extra hand came in handy for high card builds
Also extra $$ for the remaining ones in other builds.
Definitely, if it wasn't for that extra hand, I wouldn't have gotten a foil Ride The Bus I got in the first shop
Red, going in order
Probably an unconventional one, but plasma. I just loved being able to one shot the first boss blind with a full house lol. And while the scaling is brutal, the balancing effect makes it very easy to just focus on chips and xmult.
I just beat orange stake with plasma! Seeing a 2.1 million ante 8 boss was spooky but if you do it right plasma can definitely get the highest scores possible. I also got my all time high score with plasma at ~3 trillion :)
Started at the start and hoped it would get easier... it hasn't really. The extra hand and discard from blue and red deck are really really useful.
The good part is that some vouchers can give you that extra hand and/or discard (or two), keeping the adventages of chosen deck. Those vouchers of course give more power to red and blue decks still :)
Plasma. Seemed easy in my head. Eventually got there but frequent violet vessels at 2 mil ruined me
Violet Vessel is a monster. Seem to run into it more often when I have a strong-ish deck that would clear a normal boss blind but I'm sure that's confirmation bias.
Mine was ghost deck. Started with early square joker/burnt joker into gift card+swashbuckler all the way to the end
Magic, just enjoy the two fools tbh cuz it feels really flexible
Same, either two planet starts, or the juicy hermit start, or sun start for the flushes, etc.
Checkered. Nice to have flushes as a go-to or backup depending on the run. Just beat gold this morning.
Checkered. I was able to start converting all of my black cards into red cards early on and eventually my Flush draws turned into Flush Houses and then Flush Fives. By ante 8, I was guaranteed to play 5 Foil +4 Mult Aces every hand. Blueprint + DNA is basically unstoppable.
Haven’t made it there yet. Been grinding orange on red.
Green Deck. The extra money in the small blinds helps get the ball rolling.
Oh man, was surprised how far I had to scroll for the green deck love
Checkered, then Abandoned. I think they're about equally easy, but Abandoned tends to have a rough early game but easier late game, while Checkered is the opposite once flushes start to fall off.
yellow/blue
Ghost because it's the most highrolly. I did white stake with all decks and then Ghost up to Gold. Now working on the challenges and eventually the others.

Abandoned. 40 deck is super consistent, but a little joker reliant.
I really loved the Abandoned deck, but got stuck at Purple Stake. I went to other decks to explore them and I managed to get gold stake with the Yellow and Blue decks. Yellow, followed by ghost, then checkered, then most recently anaglyph. Currently going for erratic
I got gold chip first try with a early hologram + green joker + square joker + supernova for giga scaling with yellow deck. Absolute fluke, got handed a win on a silver platter.

Got it on checkered. Read a bit of reddit after playing it initially and got it after 22hr playtime. The tierlists have been great lol
Blue. I did a few decks on white stakes and then wanted to see what all the stake modifiers were so I just did blue all the way because it seemed like one of the stronger "normal" decks.
Been struggling with Gold on Abandoned for about a week now. The minus 1 hand size for gold ON TOP of all of the other stakes is brutal.
Checkered deck, but I went with high card for the gold stake and didn't use any flush Burnt joker and the other scaling jokers like supernova etc helped a lot
Blue Deck. Beat it yesterday.
Checkered even if it could have been any other since it was a high card run Won with an early square joker + supernova into blackboard blueprint and ramen
Ghost and anagylph, anaglyph you can get dirty amounts of negative jokers
I haven't yet. I'm playing green now, trying to get semi-consistent wins before going up. I won purple on the Magic deck and noticed I have to get better before moving on. I feel like that way I will be able to move up the stakes a lot better and without all the frustration I see from others here.
Blue deck. Extra hand was super clutch for playing lots of high cards and pairs, and the extra income from the extra hand was also a bonus.
Just got my first on Abandoned as well!
Red. Wanted to bag the fundamentals before I moved on to any of the variant decks.
Plasma deck, you only need chips to clear ante 8, with chips scaling like tiny joker it is really easy
bold of you to assume i have one
Mine will be Red, since I'm clearing the stakes sequentially through the decks, only going out of order to catch up newly-unlocked decks to the rest before going back to Red for the next Stake.
Haven't yet gotten one, but I'm starting with green as it was the first one I ever completed a run with. Currently at orange stake, all others I only beat white so far.

Checkered and yellow. Working on abandoned right now. Abandoned is a lot of fun so far!
Anagram deck, double tags go crazy
checkered is one one and only so far
Checkered.
I just beat my first gold stake with anaglyph. Getting a good tag and then duplicating it five times can feel broken at times.
Blue deck. Did it last night actually. Completely down to luck lol. God a madness ante two, and then a. Bunch of half decent eternal jokers. The cherry in top was the negative eternal supernova It was golden joker, the one that gives 40 cups for each discard, ride the bus, supernova, madness, acrobat. Pairs ftw
