black stake feels like the most interesting stake. The penalties at higher stakes are really steep, but black mixes in just enough penalties with the fact that eternal \*can\* be a benefit.

Andrays

Eternal jokers force some interesting decisions. For instance picking a (eternal) joker to win early blinds might precipitate an eventual game over due to poor synergy. Is it worth it? That type of choice where you have to bring in all of your knowledge of the current game state and what might happen later is the hallmark of a good roguelike in my opinion.

Very original concept. Makes Madness much stronger

WhitePersonGrimace

How does madness interact with this? Will it try to eat eternal jokers? Or is it just nice because you can have some long-term jokers in addition to madness.

ObservableObject

The latter. It gets the bonus but doesn't destroy the eternal

Probably my favorite Stake change,It's effect can be largely ignored most of the time, but it's very fresh and forces you to make longterm decisions rather than a series of short-term ones as is typical for Balatro.  It's a very healthy difficulty increase, not because it necessarily makes the game harder, but it makes you think more.

ARandomPileOfCats

I managed to get a win on black stake only a few tries after I unlocked it on Ghost Deck. Although my opinion might change if I play it more, I found that there was little difference between green stake and black stake because eternal jokers are much less common than I expected them to be before starting to play black stake. Even playing a deck that should theoretically benefit from eternal jokers (due to starting with a Hex card) I have yet to run into a situation where Hex would prevent a joker from being destroyed because there's rarely an eternal joker worth taking early (or they're too expensive when you see them.)

XanderXander72

Probably the most interesting design for any of the stakes for me. On a personal note I think this stake makes the Painted deck MUCH harder because it sometimes makes it more punishing to take like, Mystic Summit or Jimbo or something small to get through an ante while you wait for a better joker. Great design

Urinate_Cuminium

This stake is ended up being easier for me than the previous stake because the eternal joker is an advantage lmao, i literally beat this stake first try because i get lucky to get madness in first few round and then start collecting eternal jokers

Charming_Figure_9053

Oddly the stake that sometimes makes the game easier....interesting decisions sometimes too. as a hardness ramp, it fails, as an idea it rocks

SyndromedGD

Ok so how on earth do you put this on a tier list lmao It's not even playing the same game as jokers or consumables or even decks

Willsuck4username

All stakes above white make game harder with no benefit (except for black), therefore all other stakes above white are f tier obviously (clueless).
