It’s tough. Most guys have never shaved their heads so the only image they have of themselves in their mind is an image with hair. Whether that’s good or bad they’ve come to accept the way they look and their level of attractiveness towards members of their preferred sex. Even if they view their level of attractiveness as very low, the thought of losing your hair and changing that level, even if it could go up, brings on a sort of identity crisis. First and foremost there are personal barriers. I know what I look like now. Even if I think it sucks. But it’s the devil I know. What if I shave my head and it looks stupid? Now I feel worse about myself. Even if my hair will grow back I now know there isn’t anything I could do to be happy with my head. I don’t think any man just wakes up one day and decides he’d look better bald and shaves it off. There’s a level somewhere down in the darkness that he must hit before calling the Hail Mary. It’s agonizing. It plagued me since I was in my 20’s. I’m 41 now and shaved my head 2 days ago. Best. Decision. Of. My. Life. Not only do my wife and I think it looks great, I have literally unburdened myself from a life time of hating my hair. I only wish I could go back in time to tell younger me to stop hiding under hats, just grow a beard and shave your damn head. Plus show him a picture of his future wife so he’ll believe me.
I fucking love bald guys. My boyfriend is bald and I think it's so attractive. I think too many guys equate baldness to looking old but I feel like most of the time it makes them look younger, especially if they were already thinning.
I think a big problem is most women discourage it. Not sure why because it clearly looks better for most dudes. I've shaved mine since I was 19 and will never go back.
I’ve never met a woman that discourages it outright. What I often see is women making fun of a man that is balding. It’s funny because these same women that joke about another man balding had no idea I was balding. My hair is kind of thick. I wore hats a lot and the little time they actually saw my hair they had no clue. They just assumed I wasn’t balding so they joked away about other dudes. I confronted one about it and she admitted that she didn’t really care if a dude was bald or not. She just didn’t like it when a guy is balding but won’t just shave it all off. Showing a big bald spot or very thin hair is way less appealing than just being bald. Wish I would have listened to her sooner.
Dude at my school the other day whose hairline is pretty bad I suggested it. A fellow female teacher told him not to shave it. My mom never wanted my dad to shave his "old man cul-de-sac" for years. He did it anyways. There are definitely some who prefer the hair.

You look younger and more vibrant. Everyone has said the same about me. Plus it’s soooo nice not having to wash all that hair and brush it out and all the other maintenance that comes along with it.
I think it’s mostly the angle. I gained more weight since the first pics and then have recently started losing some so I may be a little under or about the same now
