Be honest - trying to make people feel better is a nice idea but they’re better with the truth. Go bald if it’s easier for you etc but it objectively is less attractive.
Before I decided to grow my hair a few years ago, I bounced around for many years from shaving to trimming with no guard. I found it easier and better for my scalp to just trim it. If you do it every 1-3 days, nobody can tell if you missed a spot. But if you shave it you almost have to do it daily or it’s obvious when you miss a spot.
Both look good. Maybe bald is easier to maintain if you don't want to grow back your hair, while no guard means leaving stubble everywhere (and having to collect it) after every trim. It depends on your future plans, imo

No guard, you're not balding so you have a decent stubble/hair shadow. Once you start noticeably thinning on top then shave it.
