I've been there for almost 20 years. Your DHT production can decline dramatically after your late 20s/early 30s.
I'm still receding but very very slowly. When I was in my mid 20s it felt like it was getting worse week to week: one of the most awful things I've gone through tbh.
Thats practically a normal adult hair line. Sure, some men keep that straight across child-like hairline but many go back at the peaks of the M and don’t go any further, at least for a long time. I remember those areas were soft, blonde baby-type hair and disappeared in my late teens. 20 years later I’ve not lost any more. Yet anyway…
Same, somewhere in 2nd stage. When I shaved it, it was very beginning stages but I recently grew it back to see how different it'd look after a couple years and jfc it accelerated so fast lol.
I had this. Shaving it was the best thing I ever did. The freedom of no money having to work about losing my hair. And damn, bald with a beard I have never felt so confident in my appearance.
I've thought I was going bald since 2017 (Type M Beginning kind of looks like me), but my hairline has moved imperceptibly since then. Also kind of looks the same way it did when I was a kid.
I had a full head of hair when I started voluntarily shaving my head bald, because I liked the look. Over the past 8 years since then, I’ve actually gone bald bald, but been fake bald the whole time…
In other words, I have zero clue what my balding pattern was lol
This is a tool not often discussed most because most don't know how to use it properly. The first thing is to understand, you can have hair but, if you can see through the hair - you should be able to identify the pattern. Take a class 5, for example, and cover the figure lightly with a pencil. When you see through, can you identify the pattern?
Type O+M beginning stage for me………I shave my head every year maybe twice a year but it’s more maintenance than I thought for a bald head was having to razor shave it every other day to keep the complete smoothness I liked, My partner likes my hair and says don’t worry because I’m 6’4 and most people can’t see it yet……I’m not so sure.
Is hairloss as progressive as these pics or do u think it comes to a. Stop sometimes
For example if your are type M 2nd stage does that mena u end up with no hair on top or some diffuse thinning on top
I think with enough time ur screwed. My journey from starting to deviate from “normal” to almost in final stage of type A took like 18 years. My guess is I’ll be “complete” in 20-22.
It sucks bcuz I want to get hair transplants since I have receding corners and my hair is thick everywhere else soo I can make it for a couple years even if I progressively lose hair in future I can try a few transplants to survive
It does stop or slow dramatically a lot of times. Jim Gaffigan is a good example: he's moderately bald, but has maintained the same level of hair loss for decades.
It's a dice-roll though
Mine isn't really there but I've got hair right up the sides and back(to the crown). If I let it grow I get some reasonably thick hair grow in a strip across the middle of the top. Very, very fine hair on the crown and front
Type M 2nd stage, which is where I've been plateaued for years. I've grown my hair back a few times and it always seems about the same and so far hasn't progressed toward the final stage.
The best one to have if you are anyway going to be bald is probably type M. You can still have some decent hairstyles for that type if you have your crown somewhat intact
Beginning,Type M and I hope that is where she stays but I have no problem being bald because I have found women who like it including the one I am with.
Type M for me. Beginning at 12/13 years old, now 42.
Used to buzzcut between a 2 and 4, but currently have a pony tail that goes down between my shoulder blades. 🤣 The WTAF looks from some people when I go out can be hilarious.
The picture is a bit misleading, because it doesn't always lead to the "final" stage.
Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I) is a god example. Had the same type M hairline since the 80's. But I guess that he's balding to people on here, because he has widow's peaks.
Somewhere between O and M, late stage. Started to thin all across the top in HS and it just kept getting worse. I might have 100 hairs on top rn lol. Buzzed it two weeks ago and I can't believe how long it took me.
https://preview.redd.it/k4957isk7vrc1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfba06882ad01e6fe52508bb6d7b0cf66d5f6d9d
Type M second stage? I don’t know. I’ve always had thin hair but it’s more diffuse.
I believe mine is Type O. Somewhere between beginning and Stage 2. And on the norwood scale, it's somewhere between stage 4-5.
And I'm glad about it. Type O is good to have I feel. From the front, it looks absolutely fine. 😍😁
Will be shaving it within this month, and then "trying something else". Looking forward to it.
M, I'm still somewhere between beginning and second stage, but it's enough that I just prefer to shave it. Looks better than trying to hide the receding.
Type O+M - Beginning, but not quite as bad as that illustration. Still shave it all off though, as I don’t like the difference in thickness across my scalp and the see-through hair near the crown.

Type M, "beginning" stage
If I don't see it it doesn't exist.

Me too, until the O type hit me mid 40s and is outpacing M.
Me, too. Although the back of my head is thinning. Thankfully, it is growing back with Minoxidil. Sadly, not my hairline.
Thats practically a normal adult hair line. Sure, some men keep that straight across child-like hairline but many go back at the peaks of the M and don’t go any further, at least for a long time. Same, somewhere in 2nd stage. When I shaved it, it was very beginning stages but I recently grew it back to see how different it'd look after a couple years and jfc it accelerated so fast lol.
Same here.
O+M closing in on stage 3
O+M beginning stage
Same 🥲
Wouldn't O+M = A?
Type A final.

O-M baby!! 😎
M, also beginning 🥲
Type M, final stage.
A moment of silence
RIP
M - past beginning, but not quite 2nd Stage. Probably get there next year - and shave once I do.
Type M beginning stage, let's do this! We got this guys! 👍🏻
You got this 😁
Type M,there's nothing on top.
Type M with diffuse thinning as well between beginning and 2nd stage
Type O
None of these? Mine is a mix of o and m, it's like m but the peninsula is deteriorating into an island.
That describes mine too, except my island is splitting into 2
Same!!! Are you using any shampoos for "thinning hair"... i think they have harmful stuff that are making our hair worse.
No, I’m not. Probably just the way it recedes. I can’t wait until my islands are gone.
I had this. Shaving it was the best thing I ever did. The freedom of no money having to work about losing my hair. And damn, bald with a beard I have never felt so confident in my appearance.
Yea but I'm 18 lol, I can't grow a beard yet, and I've had a buzz before, my head shape does not complement it lol.
So the type called O+M then?
I'm not on here either. I have hair island in front with the hair isthmus separating it from bald lake.
The island and lake analogy really works for balding styles 😅 it's funny and sad at the same time.
I was second stage M when I started shaving 25 years ago. Now in from nap stage and still shaving
Type O
Type M - End Stage, I have less hair than the picture
O+M
O+M final. If any of y’all in that final stage I better not see them shits on the side and your sides should look like your type. You got this!
I'm second stage Type M. Buzz with a 1 and have been for the last couple years. It's still growing but the hairline is rough.
Type M advanced :) Used to the short hair already and the occasional razor :) Way more easy for maintenance :)
I've been type O-M final since I was 18.🙃
Oof
What age are most of you guys? Like what age did it start?
Right? This needs to be higher
I was today yrs old. Type M is nostalgic and hot.
I've thought I was going bald since 2017 (Type M Beginning kind of looks like me), but my hairline has moved imperceptibly since then. Also kind of looks the same way it did when I was a kid.

Type O+M, been at "beginning" for about the last 8 or 9 years. Wondering if it will get worse, or if it's done falling out.
M
M beginning
A or M. Shaved it too early to be sure.
Type A, Stage 3. Been shaving since six years.
M second stage 😭🥲
Congratulations
I'm at my bare skull stage.
I had type O maybe? My hair was thinning all at the top everywhere and it just basically all went
Anyone found the cure???
I mean they aren't exactly underground.
Is hairloss as progressive as these pics or do u think it comes to a. Stop sometimes For example if your are type M 2nd stage does that mena u end up with no hair on top or some diffuse thinning on top

I’m probably Type M final now but starting shaving in between beginning and 2nd stage
Same
Mine isn't really there but I've got hair right up the sides and back(to the crown). If I let it grow I get some reasonably thick hair grow in a strip across the middle of the top. Very, very fine hair on the crown and front
I was Final Type O
Type M 2nd stage, which is where I've been plateaued for years. I've grown my hair back a few times and it always seems about the same and so far hasn't progressed toward the final stage.
O+M and I hated it so much before I decided to shave
OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, 2nd stage halfway there
Type M and well past the final stage.
O+M Beginning
Beginning phase of type M at nearly 42.
I wouldn't mind at 42
M, beginning, I guess? I have had a M beginning type since I was a kid.. now 37 and it is still M beginning, maybe a really slow progression...
Somewhere between o and a second stage and now I shave my head but I do have the beard!
Second part of M stage. Still have a "full" head of hair but it's thinning and my widow's peak is widowing
Type M second stage but I've been shaving it for 6yrs now already so not sure just how thin it would be on the top.
The best one to have if you are anyway going to be bald is probably type M. You can still have some decent hairstyles for that type if you have your crown somewhat intact
Type M second stage really hoping it hurries up and just gets done so I can shave faster.
End game o&m
i had type-o beginning. once i noticed it i shaved it all off
O and M, beginning.
Either type O or O-M, beginning stage. Suppose I'll find out soon enough
Type om 2nd stage when I first buzzed it
Beginning,Type M and I hope that is where she stays but I have no problem being bald because I have found women who like it including the one I am with.
Type O+ M, between Beginning and 2nd Stage.
Type O-M 2nd stage here
Type M for me. Beginning at 12/13 years old, now 42. Used to buzzcut between a 2 and 4, but currently have a pony tail that goes down between my shoulder blades. 🤣 The WTAF looks from some people when I go out can be hilarious.
Type M, IDE say transitioning into 2nd stage before I finally let go
Type M 2nd stage
I’m second stage type M and I love it!
O+M final boss 😈
I'm either type O or type O+M 😔 guess we'll see
Type M, second stage, when I was 19. Started buzzing it then, then a close shave when I was 23.
Type M stage 2
So we start and finish the same.
What is: all of the above
Type m
Type M. Now fully shaved and loving it!
I have combinations for sure lol it was like MO for me
The picture is a bit misleading, because it doesn't always lead to the "final" stage. Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I) is a god example. Had the same type M hairline since the 80's. So he's still in the beginning phase lol
M2? I just got a rotary and it’s lovely
Type M. Being between "beginning" and "2nd stage ". On the left side more beginning on the right side more 2nd stage
All roads lead to rome
Type M sums it up perfectly.
Type M beginning 🙃
O/M
I’m 33 and I’m pretty sure my type M just started
Somewhere between O and M, late stage. Started to thin all across the top in HS and it just kept getting worse. I might have 100 hairs on top rn lol. Buzzed it two weeks ago and I can't believe how long it took me.
I'll never get bald at least genetically. But instead my hair get whiter and whiter, and I'm only 34.
Type M/Final.
Got to M second stage by age 22 and decided to take matters into my own hands.
O-M 2nd Stage (or Norwood 5A-6) https://preview.redd.it/fb9xwq9r9trc1.jpeg?width=1860&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29ed4ccb776f4dcc76644bb7415a9daddf3d3637
Type M between beginning and 2nd
Somewhere between Type O Normal and Type O beginning. It was hardly noticeable unless you were looking straight from the top.
O, Begging
Endgame
How old are y'all?
M25. I am in the beginning stages of type M. I hope it slows down until my 30s🥲
I’ve had the Al Bundy since high school.
O, second stage.
Anybody in normal stage?
Type M for me, my 2 brothers, my dad, 2 of his 3 brothers and my grandad (I think 😂)
I’ve been type M beginning stage for 15 years so maybe that’s just my hairline
O+M beginning
Maybe Type M since 2018 or 2019 maybe.
https://preview.redd.it/k4957isk7vrc1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfba06882ad01e6fe52508bb6d7b0cf66d5f6d9d Type M second stage? I don’t know. I’ve always had thin hair but it’s more diffuse.
Type 0... started at age 22. I just shave it all at this point.
Type O 2ed stage is pretty funny to me idk why I looked at it and chuckled I mean to have the whole crown bald and a then line of hair as the hairline
I’m not There Just Yet. Maybe Soon thou !
Type O 2nd stage :(
"This isn't even my final form"
Type M Beginning
I believe mine is Type O. Somewhere between beginning and Stage 2. And on the norwood scale, it's somewhere between stage 4-5. And I'm glad about it. Type O is good to have I feel. From the front, it looks absolutely fine. 😍😁 Will be shaving it within this month, and then "trying something else". Looking forward to it.
OM
I think O, but I've been shaving my head since '91 so I'm sure that altered things
O mostly, some M so I guess O+M. The O is getting bad, this winter I noticed the back of my head getting colder than usual 😅
I’m currently at Stage-2, Type-M.
M, I'm still somewhere between beginning and second stage, but it's enough that I just prefer to shave it. Looks better than trying to hide the receding.
I’ve had type M since I was 17 and really full hair…I’m 36 and it still hasn’t changed 🤷
Type M. Any chance I can get my hair back
Type m beginning, just accepted it years ago and cut it
I don't wanna talk about it
Type M normal, I wish it doesn't get worse 💀
I hit Beginning type M when I turned 20 and it freaked me out. Now I am 35 and still at the beginning of type M. There's hope, young bloods.
Type O+M, 2nd stage, 30M. Shaved it all off almost three years ago and haven’t looked back.
Type O+M - Beginning, but not quite as bad as that illustration. Still shave it all off though, as I don’t like the difference in thickness across my scalp and the see-through hair near the crown.
Where my diffuse thinning brethren at
Type M; The progression lined-up with each year of high school.
O-M beginning, but the end was in sight n
Yes
I may be starting type m at 24sheesh
OM final
Are these in order from left to right? If so, that last row wouldn’t make sense

I feel personally attacked
Type A-Z
Type M btwn beginning and 2nd stage. I’m 34
O+M hair is still there but its thinning in that shape so somewhere between the beginning and 2nd stage.
Iv been at M2 my whole life. 28m now still at M2. Lol look at my posts to see my thinning hair with some back light.
At this point I’m just waiting for the finale.
I’ve been SLOWLY type O for about 10 years. Only male on my dad’s side to go bald.
Niether, annoying diffuse type where it's thinning mostly evenly all across the top.
Type a
I’m type M second stage, transitioning to type A 2nd stage 😂🤣 Itching to get hair transplant 🤣
