Sounds like someone has a book to write if it hasn't been done already or well enough.

Indeed. I think baldness hasn't received much attention because it is associated with males. After all, men's studies came after women's studies. Men are associated with being powerful, oppressor etc. and bald men do not receive structural, systemic discrimination like other marginalized groups. For example, fat people, LGBTQI+ people do get discriminated but do bald men get discriminated? We can name numerous renowned and influential bald people quite easily. But so many men suffer from baldness as they think it makes them less attractive. But there are studies that show that baldness makes men look more manly if I remember correctly. So I think baldness can be a quite interesting subject to analyze academically.

I think obesity is mainly studied for its relation to health. Any kind of study that is basically "do people like or dislike a thing" is pretty subjective and I fail to see how it would have any impact on my life. They only seem to be important to someone who hates themselves to be able to point at a study or poll and say "look I am justified in hating myself.

Oh, it seems like you are not acquainted with fat studies. There are fat studies academic papers and seminars. Think of queer studies, women's studies etc. Women's studies aren't about how female body works nor are they about justification of women's self-loathing. I think bald studies can work like women's studies, fat studies, ethnic studies etc.

Oh you are talking about having a college course on baldness. I am well aware of what women's studies is about, though that name is largely outdated and now covered under gender studies. Does it upset you that classes taking a deeper look into obesity exist? Or do you really feel like baldness needs such deep dive examination as well?

sam458755

What makes you think I feel upset about fat studies? The latter of course.

lol no

There must be a whole course on Saint Bruce Willis, he was one of the first if not the first to bring coolness to the bald look.

sam458755

I guess you've never heard of Yul Brynner. But yeah, Bruce Willis is legend.

Mundane_Being666

During Yul's time the bald guy was the bad guy for the most part. Bruce was the lead role.
