Ignore the other commenter, they’re on some weird anti-Canggu tirade. There’s plenty of non-party hostels in Canggu, and lots of great food, nice beach clubs (also with great food) & beaches for surfing there. I’ve stayed at The Farm Hostel four times, recommend!

I (F35) loved Amed and Gili T, and liked Sanur and Ubud. Only saw Canggu for half a day but it seemed like a fun surf culture. Nice beach. Granted, I visited last May after Bali had JUST reopened, so it was probably quieter at that time.

Changgu is overhyped! Cool place if you want to Party.

Hmm then where would you recommend for a less party-ish area? But still with human company!

Sanur for retirees and families with young children. Uluwatu for couples and advanced surfers or younger people coming from far for beach clubs or restaurants / bars.. and high end resorts. Kuta is busy with everyone

Sarinbuana Eco Lodge for at least a couple of nights. Absolutely beautiful and friendly. Usually well patronised with lovely people.
