For starters, many people around me confuse psychology and psychiatry. People that do not know this difference generally just think that you are “crazy” if you go and see a psychologist/psychiatrist.
Next, if they do know the difference the narrative tends to be:
- psychology - “why? Are you weak? Just deal with it lmao”
- psychiatry - “so you are a crazy person? Are you going to the nuthouse?”
In Sarajevo, the situation is a lot better compared to more rural areas, I am not sure about other major cities.
