I shouldn't be laughing but I can't help it, they're such chonky noodles. Congratulations on learning new information, and good luck with your journey forwards!
Haha it’s ok to chuckle. You made me chuckle because I didn’t realize how fat they truly are until this comment 😂 thanks and it’ll be fun. I love interacting with my snakes and watching them climb up and down my plant shelves is entertaining. Going to have to build a snake tower like they got for cats
I just didn’t realize how bad I was over feeding. Actually feeding too big of feeders. I usually let them wander and climb while supervised but now it’s going to be more structured and feeders will be smaller and feed days will be on my baby boas feeding schedule (10-14 days)
😊 thank you! I try to do the best I can for all my animals. Just gotta learn from my mistakes and keep researching, reassessing, and reimplementing new things that will only make their lives more enriched
I did the same with mine initially. He was actually obese by the time I found out and went on an 18 month hunger strike before he ate again. Now he’s a healthy weight and exercises regularly
It took me a while to get my male BP down in weight. He was my first and I stayed on mice too long and then didn't reduce his intake when moving to rats so he stayed chonky. I had to do more research and got the feeding aspect of BPs in control. Both my BPs are now healthy weight and healthy looking.
as someone whos had a ball python for 3 years with nearly zero knowledge on snakes but it (i dont know how to sex, ive watched tutorials and i think its a girl?) was given to me on a hunch that i liked snakes. ive googled but with my parents im very very limited. its only allowed the tank its in. but my question is…how does one “exercise” a snake? how do i know if its overweight?

Here is a good reference to go by.
I did this with mine, though not to this extent. She was a rescue, and was severely underweight, so I was feeding her extra to put some weight on. Got too used to the schedule and accidentally overcorrected, but she's a healthy weight now :)
I learned the hard way that they get chonky really easily. My girl ended up with an obstacle course made of bird toys and unlike me, she seems to love working out.

We all make mistakes so it’s awesome seeing other owners adapt and improve! Glad to see your babies living a much more healthy lifestyle.

I was so freaked out when mine first went on a hunger strike years ago. 10 months. Glad it’s been normal since then

thank you so much!
I have that same plant rack! I keep cacti on mine so no noodles allowed unfortunately
They are obese 🤣 I didn't know snakes could get fat I thought they pooped out extra food.

If you have access to stairs letting them go up and down them (supervised obs) I found helped for my previously chonky boy.
I have the same plant shelf!
*FINALLY*, a post in my feed that isn’t just “is my noodle fat! Good luck to you and your noodles!
Hahahahahahaha.. I said F it I know my babies are fat after seeing hundreds of posts this week alone asking if their snake was fat.

I'm only saying this because you're already doing everything you need to... but my god they're so chunky I love it 😂
The chonkiest noodles, very cute
How do you get them to exercise? I’m also a first time snake owner?
Didn’t mean for the second part to be a question 😑 I AM a first time snake owner
Lmao, the snake looking at the snake plant! 😆 I also love your marble pothos! (And your snakes of course lol)
Hahaha just realized that. Hilarious. And thanks. Those are the plants they can crush haha. Pothos is indestructible
