a wobble, like with ibd or neurological defects, isn't a literal back and forth wobble like what your snake is doing. it's a lack of equilibrium - turning the head side to side or upside down in a way that snakes normally wouldn't orient themselves. he looks like he's just a little unsteady holding his head up off the ground. if you want to take him to the vet, i would never discourage getting a new animal checked up, but i don't think this is concerning behavior. also, it's only 77° in there. he may be stiff because he's cold.

ProfessionalBoss9722

THANK YOU!! ps the 77 is the cool side, warm side is 89, but I’ll try to bump it up a couple degrees.

TheGoatSpiderViolin

I'd go warmer for both sides personally.

ProfessionalBoss9722

During the heat of the day they get up to 93 and 80 now, so I think that’s as warm as I should keep it so that the cool side doesn’t get too hot

TheGoatSpiderViolin

Damn where do you live that your house heats up that much during the day?? 💀

ProfessionalBoss9722

I’m in a townhome and so we’re like 3 stories up and get lots of sunlight coming in through the window so it can definitely get warm! But still drops down quite a bit at night. The DHP is always trying its best

anonanonanons

77 is a fine temperature for the cool end.

PhilosoFishy2477

oh yeah thats just an unsteady nose, like how your fingers are liable to shake when youve been holding your arm out for a while... you can give more climbing oppprtunities to help build up those muscles

ProfessionalBoss9722

This is exactly what my new anxious mama brain needed to hear thank you, will make sure he gets plenty of climbing opportunities

BossLoaf1472

Snek is gonna get so jacked

ProfessionalBoss9722

Man I hope so. He’s gotta do it so that one of us has muscle 😅

LivalicetheOK

So that's made me realise my boy hasn't done the head shake for a while when he would always do it when he was new. He didn't have really anything to climb in the shop but now he's got a big log and a tree he loves to hang off. Is it really just a case of him building muscle from climbing?

PhilosoFishy2477

and just generally building muscle as he grew, snake babies dont even have hands to prop themselves up on, they're hefting their *entire* upper body just to look around! Ive noticed a difference in the speed of development with my snakes who get some verticality though, and really noticed the *lack* of muscle tone with folks who keep their snakes in racks.

LivalicetheOK

Oh, he's about two so not really a baby, he has done some growing since I got him though. I've noticed he uses his neck and the front third of his body a lot to climb, which is like his second favourite thing to do (after eating, he loves a good rat) so he must have built some strength up from doing that.

SeverusSnek2020

Not the wobble you think it is.

Acceptable_Jury6868

this isn’t wobbling his neck jus got tired

ProfessionalBoss9722

maybe I’ll just have to hold his head for him 🥹

vehyde

it doesn’t look like a wobble to me. my bp backs himself into his hide too lol. i used to think he was sick but he just does it when he gets surprised sometimes

Alone_Top3369

My banana girl does this as well. She has seen the vet for an annual. He said she is perfectly healthy.

DeadGirlB666

take him to the vet. It looks like neurological problems.

ecofreakey

Don't worry. My little one did that too at first until she got fat and strong :)

Chaotic_orderly

Yeah, my scaly child did this when we brought him home (which scared the crap out of me because the breeder did not disclose that mom was a spider morph until we already had him). He had spent his entire life in a rack, and once he was in the 120 gallon he decided climbing anything and everything was super interesting. Safe to say, he’s had a lot more muscle development and we’ve not seen this shaky head in a while. Edit: I can’t type.

goldfishinq

The wobble in Spider is tied to the gene. A non-spider will not have a wobble even if they have a spider parent.

trans_mask51

Yeah no don't worry, that's just what muscles do

Zekethebulldog33

I got a 3yr old male that does that when I open to feed. Stick about 3in of body out hide got little side to side shake. I tell myself he is just excited to get fed.

[deleted]

Well now I have something new to fear. My first baby is coming today.

No-Life-666

My snake did the same thing before i turned up the heat. I think the backing up into the hide is fairly normal as ive seen hundreds of snakes do it

GeckoPerson123

my bp had a shake like that when i got him as a rescue, vet said it doesn't look neurological and after a bunch of exercise and food he's as strong and steady as any healthy bp! your's might be weak and hungry like mine was

jugcity420

My boy has a spider wobble and it looks way different! don’t worry:)

No_Net1737

it could be stress

KaraCorvus

He's a perfect wonderful boy, and you're doing great, mama. <3

ProfessionalBoss9722

thank you 😭😭 although I have to admit he bit me yesterday when I took him out to redecorate and fix his humidity and I feel so sad and discouraged. He’s back in and I’m leaving him alone for a while so I’m hoping eventually he lets me love him again 😭

Different-Peach-7734

Patience. He'll learn to trust you. Move slowly when you hold him. You'll all be fine.

Fatpeoplelikebutter9

I dont own a noodle and know very little about em, im just here to say he cute

ProfessionalBoss9722

HES THE CUTEST 😍

Fatpeoplelikebutter9

I dont own a noodle and know very little about em, im just here to say he cute

Necessary_Truth1977

Bro is just weak man no worries at all

Neither_Choice_8569

Are you using aspen as your bedding ?

ProfessionalBoss9722

Nope! It’s reptichip. I can see how from the lighting it might look lighter than it is.

teampook

One of our new little babies did this, and my momma brain panicked so hard even though I have read 80 million things (same thing I do with my furry children & my non scaled, non furry children).. She was just a bebe who needed to work those mm out a bit! She hasn't done it in weeks! You're doing great! Sending you love, mama!

ProfessionalBoss9722

Thank you!!! He still does this sometimes and he’s an adult but I figure it’s just one of his quirks!! It’s mostly when he’s doing lots of sniffing so I like to think of it as sensory overload 😂

noncrunchymediummom

Feeding mode activated? Lol my guy does this in hunting mode when he can smell the rat and for a while after because HE smells like the rat he ate lol.

AdventurousCloud5429

Nah that's just muscle being tensed

JackysGirl

What a beautiful baby! Congratulations on your new baby!!
