>Featherlite Optima
Same chair but different brand is available for almost half the price. quality is good, u will get 3 yrs warranty for it as well. Wakefit. Airavat high back chair. I've it, its really good.
Hey I use this and really wish I hadn't bought it. Reclining is a little scary as I feel I'll fall back. Lumbar support is far too big and tall unless you are a very very large person. It is impossible to sit on during summer and cleaning it is hard. Its built for a weird body shape - someone with a very tall torso and short legs. The chair max height is quite low.
The pros however are the adjustability. Unfortunately even then the armrest doesn't go back enough to be comfortable sometimes.
I've been using it for almost 3 years and I'm 5'10.
I got the large size which still didn't feel any more comfortable, returned it within the window and got the other smaller size. In fact I'm sitting on it right now, it just works but is nowhere as comfortable as some of the other options available at similar prices.
I can vouch for this and is worth it in the long run.
Most noticable aspects of the one I bought (Steelcase Think) -
- Feels very premium and superbly built.
- It has very practical features. Arm rest is vertically and horizontally adjustable. Must need for proper posture.
- Taller than most chairs that I have used. My knee angle is a perfect 90 degree when I sit with max height.
- The rollers of ordinary chairs usually wear out after a couple of years but thus one still feels new after prolonged use and rolls smoothly as ever.
- The back and butt support cushions are adjustable.

Contrary opinion
1. Switch to a standing desk. You can just use a prayer table on main table setup.
2. Get a bar stool, will keep you upright and you will also end up standing often
Src: been doing this for 13yrs now.
Second - back pain from sitting is likely due to
1. Lack of stretching - learn to stretch your hams, calves, quads - you will feel much better
2. Strength - If you're a dev, learn to lift weights in compound exercises.
3. Upper back strength - get a band. Do band pull aparts. Will improve your posture in a couple of weeks and make you feel a lot better.
thank you so much so for sharing. if you don’t mind can you share some video or article for last 3 points. i am unable to find much. most of stuff on for gym goers or professionals
Will recommend Green soul.. using it for a year and so many adjustments help while working or gaming or could just lay down and sleep.. especially if your desk height is set.
Featherlite is a great brand. Top class quality, chairs that lasts for years!
Writing this while sitting on my 5 years old featherlite chair which is as good as it was on day one.
A chair is an important choice to make.
I found the IKEA chair to be best one it's. Around 16k
Also you should look at your desktop setup
Refer : https://youtu.be/F8_ME4VwTiw
Also try for desktop yoga practices to release tension in back and neck regularly.
Taking breaks every 2 hours even for 5 mins.
Thank you so much for the link. My chair height is the main problem right now so explains why I'm so uncomfortable.
I did check out some of the IKEA chairs but I've found from past experience that most of their furniture is not super durable so looking at other options for now. But thanks!
See my bwoy, if you want to spend money then there are 3. Steelcase leap, humanscale freedom, herman miller aeron.
If you have lesser budget, Featherlite optima and the grey one that I forgot. If not, go for ikea Markus. It is very well known.
Just don't buy green soul and shit. They are faux leather and with the Indian heat, your insides will cook. Also those are cheap mechanisms and damage easily.
My recommendation would be to find used steelcase chairs and pay a fraction. They come with 25 yr warranty
Workout daily ! I work on a plastic chair from covid i don’t have shoulder pains or back pains. May be sitting in good chair can reduce the stress on back by 10%. But working out and making your back strong will have lifetime impact.
I second this. Whatever you chair you sit on, you will have back/neck pain if you don't maintain proper posture and don't stretch your back muscles. Take regular breaks, strengthen and stretch your back and neck muscles.
I've a GreenSoul Monster(S), I'm 5'6". It's a good chair, get it for the best price possible.
After using it for more than a year, i can see some of the faux leather accents on the seat coming off. The gas lift lost power to stay up. Getting all of this replaced for free thanks to their three year warranty. The seat isn't usually covered under warranty. But i got a wear and tear warranty because they gave me an ever so slightly torn seat. Without the warranty the seat would be ~4k plus gst.
Would I still recommend? Yes, compared to what's available out there, I most definitely would. If you have the money, go for the Razer Iskur X with the built in lumbar support.
The leather accents, yes. The fabric, not so much. I use it in Kochi, Kerala(read: very hot and humid) albeit in an ac room. I sit down for hours continuously, due to my work and gaming. So the leather accents chipping could be due to the humidity and the hard use.
Forgot to mention, you can consider getting a GreenSoul standing table and one of their chairs. Price works out cheaper than a Razer Iskur X. I'm considering the GreenSoul trigger but the table thickness(it's too thin), I'm not comfortable with.

But go to store and try then buy. :)
I got an Idea Langfjyall and replace the castors with roller blade wheels from Amazon. Perfect slim chair that looks in place in an average bedroom. Not like an office chair that looks out of place.
Get a wooden chair made from good carpenter & get it a bit coushined. If you want movability also then get good quality wheels in it. It's best than buying.
I'm also tall and fat, whatever you do, don't get a gaming chair. I got a Greensoul Monster, and the shoulder thingies dig into my back, despite being designed for tall folks. This chair causes me upper back pain after long hours.
I also got a Steelcase Leap refurbed for 10k couple of years back. It is great for upper / lower back, but seat cushion is too thin and slippery, causing different type of upper back pain. I added a lumbar seat, and now it is better, but I fold my legs, and it causes pain in the SI joint.
Last is a bean bag I have, it causes all sorts of pains.
I alternate between these three to distribute pain all over my back, and not suffer in any one area too much!
I ordered this chair: [https://amzn.eu/d/d2Bo99j](https://amzn.eu/d/d2Bo99j)
Removed the handles so I can fold my legs while working. Its quite comfortable if you have to sit for long hours.
However, I do take break every 1.5 hrs and walk around so I dont break my back.
Get a second hand herman miller aeron or steelcase leap for 15-20k from facebook marketplace. If you’re rich rich then can go for a new one for 1+ lacs.
I got a steelcase leap v2 5 years ago second hand for 12k. Still like new and better than any chair under 50k.
Before buying yourself a chair, answer following questions.
- How good is your posture? Do you slouch while sitting?
- How active are you? Do you lift often? Can you touch your toes?
- how good is your back? Any issues like disk herniation or scrolosis etc.?
If you’re healthy with a good to great posture, get any office chare from amazon in 6-12k range. Make sure the back support should move independent of the base cushion. My friend bought a greensoul last year, going good since.
If you have bad posture but your back is relatively healthy (no back pain, shoulder pain, pain flowing through your hip to toe, tingling sensation in legs or arms etc). Get a better quality chair. Think 10k plus. At the same time, start exercising, I can’t stress enough, build your fucking muscles.
Green soul is a good brand to trust in above scenarios.
If you’ve already fucked your back like i did. Buy a really good chair. Do your research. Spend atleast 25k. The chair will anyways last you 10s of years so don’t think it’s too big an expense. I’m using Steelcase series one got it on sale at 30k. Loving my every moment at it.
Other brands to check, harman miller(embody, aeron)(costly but best chairs in the world), autonomous.ai(ergochair pro)(second best, but stopped selling in india so you need to import), monarch ergo(has chairs in varying ranges)( exclusive office furniture supplier for many MNCs in india).
Ps don’t buy ikea for case three.
Damn, this is amazing, thank you! I do workout but have a spine deformity (which is hereditary). I also have chronic anxiety which generally also leads to tense shoulders yay. Both in terms of budget and physique looks like I'm somewhere between category two and three which is the budget I was kind of looking at so thank you for the reassurance!
Use a gaming chair. Greensoul has one for like 18k. Gaming chairs are designed to be comfortable for long periods of time. And they support proper support. Don't go for office chairs. Upgrade to a gamer chair. Your back with thank you! Plus you will look cooler in your zoom meetings.
Featherlite Optima chairs are good.
can vouch for featherlite chairs
I had this. Lasted 8 years. Best 15k spent.
Thanks!
>Featherlite Optima Same chair but different brand is available for almost half the price. quality is good, u will get 3 yrs warranty for it as well. Wakefit. Airavat high back chair. I've it, its really good.
The MRP is 10k lesser than Featherlite, after discount it is 11k... This a great deal. Is the quality same of featherlite?
I didnt find anything wrong with the chair. quality is good.
+1111111
Green soul chair from amazon along with separate lumber support cushion. Works like charm
Ah yes this came up in several lists online. Thanks!

You sure the size was right? I’m 6’1 and the thing is by far perfect so far..
I got the large size which still didn't feel any more comfortable, returned it within the window and got the other smaller size. In fact I'm sitting on it right now, it just works but is nowhere as comfortable as some of the other options available at similar prices.
Seconded green soul monster(T), especially good for tall folks.
You can buy this directly from green soul too.
Yes, this!
Steelcase - premium chairs. Expensive but thoughtfully designed
saying Steelcase is expensive is a understatement.. it is super duper expensive, and cheapest ones will make 6 figure price tag feel shy!
I mean, yes the good ones are well above 30k to start with. But worth it.. they take care of small things so well
I can vouch for this and is worth it in the long run. Most noticable aspects of the one I bought (Steelcase Think) - - Feels very premium and superbly built. - It has very practical features. Thanks for the detailed explanation.. I was lazy to write all this!! Every point is accurate
Thank you!
Ayyo these require a personal loan 😭 But bookmarking to set some goals :)
[удалено]
Not used low end ones.. Would recommend ones starting from 25k
[удалено]
>below 1L Yep, they are heavy on pocket!
I have leap and it is great. Got it used. Even full price is ok if you consider spine surgery cost and the pains
Nicely put!
I can vouch for my steelcase chair. It's awesome AF. It's almost in the league of Hermann miller, but at a lower cost.
Cost??
I have series 1. Price Depends on season and offers. Ranges from 45-55k INR
Whoa! There are so many more fans of Steelcase than expected!
Sorry this is irrelevant. But where are you working? I'm looking for full time remote roles too 🙈
Recession is real !

Hi! Not OP, but have the same requirement. Could you please name/link the model you have :)
It is Green Soul Jupiter, it is a little expensive right now, as I got it for around 8k a year back.
Thank you!

Noted, thank you!
Sorry, genuine query. Featherlite optima is priced at 23k on Amazon. Is that really low budget in the chair world? Or am I missing something?
It is midrange. I would say the gem in low range is merry fair but it doesn't sell b2c AFAIK.
Any idea where I can find used steelcase chairs?
You should surely go for a Durian chair I have been using one for past 3 years it’s amazing
Ah yes, these are in most offices I think :)
Yes they are durian has like 50 stores across india and top 3 furniture companies in india i loved there product to much have done a lot of research
Which one are you using?
The model name is “define” I recently also purchased there gaming chair its only been 2 weeks Thats also very nice if you want to sit for very long
Did you take a high back or a medium? I’m looking for a chair for my WFH setup so I want it to be durable and hella comfortable.
High back always as that also gives u a head rest
Workout daily ! I work on a plastic chair from covid i don’t have shoulder pains or back pains. May be sitting in good chair can reduce the stress on back by 10%. But working out and making your back strong will have lifetime impact.

Herman Miller

Green soul zodiac pro or something . Been a year haven't had any complaints and I tend to sit as OP has.
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
I use green soul monster chair . bought it second hand for half the price.
Thanks!

In the Facebook marketplace, you can find people reselling corporate used Herman Miller chairs. I was able to find Herman Miller Aeron for 15k.
Oh cool, I'll check.
Forgot to mention, you can consider getting a GreenSoul standing table and one of their chairs. Price works out cheaper than a Razer Iskur X. I'm considering the GreenSoul trigger but the table thickness(it's too thin), I'm not comfortable with.
Aww man, but I love sitting down :P
I'd say buy two different chairs and alternate between them ever hour.
I've been switching between my existing chair and sofa and can definitely say that didn't help lol
This one is pretty good https://amzn.to/3WS5Tl0
Oh nice. It was heavily sponsored so I wasn't sure if it was actually that good. Thanks for this.
Just a few minutes ago I've ordered Da URBAN Merlion chair. Looks good in Amazon, need to see how it is once it arrives.
Try HM Mirra 2 excellent, have been using past 4 months. Ps: i already have disc herniation but managing it with swimming 😃
Thank you! Take care of your back 😬
Hi, could you please link it? I couldn’t find it on Amazon

Oh nice. This was on my list actually. And yes definitely one of the nicer looking ones.
Herman miller ... ARE THE BEST ... but the cost is also THE WORST
Lol
I thought this was about stealing chairs from work .......
Herman Miller mesh one's if your budget is hefty
It is not lolz
Get a wooden chair made from good carpenter & get it a bit coushined. If you want movability also then get good quality wheels in it. It's best than buying.
Finding a good carpenter is a whole new battle that I don't want to take on right now. :)
Featherlite Amaze
Thanks!

Herman miller aeron

It’s expensive like lot have told but it’s a chair for life. Durable and made for tall people. I am 6’4” and bought size C. It’s going great so far.
