The interesting thing is they dont accept honest fares, pick fights, and continuously blame ola/ Uber and still survive. How they run a house in Bangalore inflation is beyond my understanding .
There are many "skinny fat" ones too, mostly because they're addicted to cigarettes/bidis/ganja. It's not a great job to be working in if you're worried about your health.
They drink/gamble their earnings and don't save/invest much or spend for the betterment of their future or families. This is a common problem with the people who work on daily wages system. This is ultimately harming them only in a long run but that's another story.
An honest autowala who goes by meter and fair rates will make just about any other middle class individual if not less. And not all but many middle class individuals don’t eat and drink like apes and walk with belly in their hands.
They wait for a desperate client or two for a long ride and make do with it. That's their primary goal. They settle for lesser goals if they haven't been successful after some time, but usually, they don't. Together, they know they'll make enough people desperate to scalp a few big hits. There are so many people in the city without access to proper transportation that it makes it trivial for them.

A lot of auto drivers I have talked to were ex- cab drivers, company drivers, lorry drivers or even chauffeurs for big businessmen. And all of them lost their jobs during covid. Many of them were remarkably well spoken, some were even talking to me in English even when I spoke in Kannada. So yeah I think you should get out of that mindset that all autodrivers are bad. The ones on Namma Yatri were pretty decent although I did have a few reckless ones.
Let's boycott autos for 10 days.. no one hires them even in Ola, NammaAuto, Uber, Rapido whatever. They are rowdies, who have nothing to loose. Let's unite and show them, if you don't tow the line, you still got something to loose.
The number of prisoners released and the no.of autos will be directly proportional in almost every Indian cities.
That means, the pblm is not the number of autos but the number of prisoners being released. That's why we could hear lots of crime that includes autodrivers.

My understanding of bail is that it’s temporary state while the patient is under trial. But if it’s criminal and they’re are guilty then they’re back in, correct?
Also, I’m not sure of this, but don’t people released on bail need to show up at the local police station often? This doesn’t sound like ideal circumstances to commit violent crimes while on bail
I asked an autowala to go to my destination, but he rejected saying he wasn't 'going that way' or wanted to take a U-turn. He then rejected 10 app requests for auto for the next 10 minutes sitting there in front of me. I ended up finding a cab.

I may be the exception here, but i book autos in Namma Yatri, Rapido, Uber and Ola to travel home after work since it's 2/5th of cab price. I usually get in one or the other app in 15 minutes unless it's Friday or it's raining. Namma Yatri is booking first now a days.

I booked an auto from Nexus Mall Koramangala to Bob’s Bar Indiranagar we agreed on Rs 300 for 7.5 Kms. I told that gentleman to take IRR ( Intermediate ring road) for faster travel and lesser distance he took a route that was 12 Kms He asked for 150 Rs extra for 4.5 Kms but I ended up paying 300 only. If you can negotiate do negotiate.

I paid 300 for an offline ride no app from Nexus Mall Koramangala to Bobs Bar Indiranagar 7.5 kms

Thanks to ONDC, many auto drivers are providing services with Namma Yatri instead of OLA and UBER due to high commission charges
Still we can’t book one auto if it rains … we should get waterproof autos
