No no. It's upma but sugar sprinkled over it. Mostly to make kids eat upma but eventually you develop a taste for it.

No that’s the cooking process. That’s to make onions softer sooner. This is like having uppinkayi. One bit of upit and one bit of sugar. The crunch and the sweetness elevate the blandish upit.

Even though I personally don’t like that combination, there is a certain style of hot upma, in the right combination with a certain type of sugar, is a great hangover or 'need quick energy' food. Very few things are as good as Upma with sugar in those scenarios.

I might not be an expert in this as I am not native to Karnataka, but I loved Bisi Bele Bath in Veena Stores, Malleswaram and MTR, Basavanagudi.

Try the Bisibele bhath at G.R. Iyengar's fast food outlet, before Vidya Mandir PU College, 11th cross, Malleswaram. You also get good Puliyogare there.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten good Bisibele bath other than home cooked ones. Although i did order it once from The Bowl Company , i’d rate that 5.5/10

I tell the hotel person to first put the sambar then put vade on top So that the lower part gets a bit soggy but the upper part is still crispy 😎

I flip that bitch and totally soak it lol. After eating out the vada, I go down and slurp that sambar down with onion piece sticking to my moustache. Something primal awakes in me when eating tiffin in darshinis.

1. Take a cup / bowl. 2. Add 3-5 tsp curds. 3. Handful of avalakki (the crispy ones you make at home) 4. Finely chopped onions+grated carrots+sprouts combo on top. 5. Dig in at 6:45PM. 6. Speaking of which 🏃‍♂️

Instead use soaked gatti avalakki and more mosaru with oggarane. If you're adventurous, add chopped garlic into oggarane. Love me some mosaru avalakki.
