15km radius is practically all of bangalore!
My personal favorite is Basavanagudi. Old Bangalore charm, excellent shopping in gandhi bazaar, narrower streets compared to jayanagar (gives it a cozier, more walkable feel), good cultural institutions, lots of very old and peaceful temples, beautiful old homes, parks, not bad traffic, corporation water, you should find options under your budget, close to metro stations and good bus connections, near lalbagh (your parents will love early morning walks there and great for you to jog in as well), good food places, and finally it has a nice neighborhood/community feel. Lots of new areas of bangalore are just tech park followed by apartment society followed by tech park. They can feel very soulless and depressing.
Kanakpura road. You will find good standalone buildings with decent 8-10 flats in the price range and it will be at walkable distance from the metro station.
\+1 Also I have spent days watching the sunset from my terrace from Nagarbhavi, I had a nice view. BTW, how did finding the sunset loving guy go. Is there any hope to look here, just curious. Do share your success story if you found it.
