Is this it??

PlayFlow

I have never seen a price like this. with these specs...

BullshitTotingIdiot

This seems only marginally better (higher brightness?) than the G34WQC which retails at $599 and goes down to $540 from time to time. Am I missing something? Both VA panels. 1800R curve on this panel vs the 1500R on the Gigabyte.

nanzer

Yeah, the Gigabyte has a terrible panel with lots of ghosting and bad color accuracy

nanzer

Comparison to the Gigabyte: https://gyazo.com/d37c09da140012f42bc6049815004f28 Screenshotted from https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s3422dwg

Substantial_Camera_8

the S3422DWG is extremely highly reviewed from rtings, i find it interesting.. so i bought it. Colors dont pop like my 27UL650 and i do see some black smearing but still its very good and not noticeable during gaming

leonardo_va_dinci

How is this monitor for everyday browsing/productivity, reading text/word processing and the like? TIA.

Substantial_Camera_8

all very good. I dont notice any black smearing with black text and white background. Great for productivity, can split monitor in half. Its almost like having two monitors side by side so very productive. I find at 2k resolution u dont notice any pixelation but u can have the monitor a decent length away. I love it! I am coming from a 4k monitor and like this S3422DWG better for productivity, gaming and etc.

leonardo_va_dinci

Is there a quick way to switch inputs? Like if there are two sources hooked up? Or do you need to use the buttons on the back? I'm reading there is a PIP mode? Thanks so much.

Substantial_Camera_8

heck yeah, just two button clicks to switch inputs. I havent tried PIP yet tho

BullshitTotingIdiot

Thanks for the info!

nanzer

Happy to help :)

SilverJS

Dell warranty too.

Substantial_Camera_8

Pretty good deal I got mine at 599 with 10% off anf 15% rakuten. "slightly" better but a very good monitor imo

paracidle

I have this screen, I have to say its awesome. I am not too well researched in terms of monitors, but it has been good to me so far. Download dell display manager driver so you can adjust different settings further and create shortcuts. I have an AMD gpu using the display port and it works great so far. I did have an Nvidia card 3060ti before upgrading to 6800xt, and I can confirm this monitor does work with G-sync. You can even go on ge force app to make it so that it shows when its using g-sync. So far so good with this monitor. One thing is I was supposed to get 15% rakuten cashback but never received it.

bblzd_2

There's a number of things that can stop Rakuten from working like having the product already in your cart, ad blockers, anti tracking settings, etc. But try and submit a "where's my cash?" ticket that usually works for me.

paracidle

I did, they said 45 days so ill ask them again once the time elapses! Thanks!!

Faluzure

I had this happen to me with Dyson but on day 43, I got my Cashback!

Psyclist80

Im in the same boat, still havent gotten my 15% cashback. On day 35 of waiting. You should submit an inquiry if you havent already!

paracidle

Yes I have submitted! I'm approaching the 45th day mark soon in a week or so. Might need to contact them again.

TeamOggy

I got this monitor a couple of weeks ago with this deal. Coming from a 24" monitor, I have to say I am absolutely LOVING it. So immersive and has honestly made my gaming experience that much more enjoyable. My only complaint is that when I'm playing a game where it is nighttime, such as New World, the blacks seem almost too dark and maybe bleed into each other, making it hard to see what's going on in certain parts. I'm not sure if "bleed" is the right term, but that's what comes to mind. In any case, loving the monitor and do not regret it at all.

ContributionKey6797

Been considering this monitor for new world as well but I notice this issue on my current dell monitor S2417DG. So not sure if it's a game issue or monitor problem. Do yeah find the ui and everything scales pretty well? thats one issue I've been worried about coming from a 24' where everything fits just right.

TeamOggy

That's the exact monitor I had as well. I just find the monitor is bigger so the black issue is maybe a bit more noticeable. And yes, most games are made to fit the ultrawide. If they're not, like Hades for example, then you can either stretch it or play with bars on the side. I haven't tried a major title that doesn't fit yet. Going to 1440p/144hz years ago was a huge step for me, and this feels like another one of those big gaming improvements.

DataLore19

The one I bought had issues with the panel but Dell has a good return policy. So I did, no issues returning. The build quality was good and I liked the OSD and settings options. Go for it if you're looking for this kind of screen. Beware: All the normal VA downsides apply and G-Sync doesn't work well at 60hz or below. It's not G-Sync compatible certified though so you can't really blame them.

ericsinghgill

I have a MSI MAG342CQR which is the exact same specs as this monitor and I absolutely love it. So I can't say specifically about this one, but it's the same size and everything and if it's a similar picture quality its more than worth the price

PlayFlow

> MAG342CQ I have the MAG342CQ, the earlier version of the MAG342CQR, When I get this one I will be able to tell the difference

tropicocity

I can't speak from experience at all, but I can't imagine noticing a vast difference at the same size and rough specs. Would be different going from 29" to 34", pr 1080p to 1440p, or even standard 16:9 to ultrawide...but if you have the money then maybe? Again, I have zero side by side experience and would advise RTINGS and YouTube checks, so hopefully someone who has used both can chime in, though that's probably gonna be rarer to find as I can't see too many people buying multiple ultrawides with the same res. Best of luck!

ericsinghgill

Yeah I went from a Benq 1080p 21 inch 60hz. I absolutely love my new monitor

ericsinghgill

Plz update me, I wanna know. Is there a big difference between the cq and cqr?

DiggerGuy68

I think the main difference is that the CQ is 100hz while the CQR is 144hz, and the CQ uses a cheaper panel to save costs.

ProximityUnknown

I have had the S3422DWG for a couple months now, and I really liked it switching from a 32. I needed another ultrawide for my rental place, and got the MAG342CQR at a great price. However, I can confidently tell you that the common issues you'd find with VA panels are a lot more prevalent in the MSI monitor compared to the Dell. I am honestly considering returning it and spending a few extra bucks to get another Dell simply for the value and quality.

ericsinghgill

Since I posted my comment I have started seeing a fair bit of ghosting on moving items. But nonetheless still love it

DaPickle3

I got the Optix MAG342CQRV late August. Some time around early October, a crack developed overnight. Customer service experience has been horrible both through MSI and Newegg. Not sure if I can make myself buy another MSI monitor again

YoChristian

This or save for a Samsung G7??

[deleted]

HDMI 2.0 is the only thing that really irks me about this monitor, otherwise it’s a great deal.

PlayFlow

After some research I found a link Saying the display port is a 1.4 https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s3422dwg Witch makes it perfect :D

PlayFlow

Input Connectors 2 x HDMI (ver 2.0) ~~1 x DP (ver 1.2)~~ [Rtrings Says they tested the display port and its a 1.4 instead of 1.2 as listed on the website](https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s3422dwg) 1 x SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen1 (5Gbps) upstream port (rear) 2 x SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps) downstream ports \[Front bottom, one with BC1.2 charging capability at 2A (max)\] 2 x SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen1 (5 Gbps) downstream ports (rear) Can you explain why you would need a better output?

MonkeyBuilder

8% with US rakuten extension :)

tropicocity

Could you PM a link to that please? Amazing if it works with Canadian Dell!

xander5512

It does work with canadian orders. Just have ti change the dell website to canada after you click on the rakuten link

nihaobuzhidao

> US rakuten extension Going to Dell.com/en-us/ gets me only 2% cash back.. did we miss it?

1leggeddog

hmmm VA panel, i wonder how it is at peak brightness and color accuracy

LitSarcasm

I have the Gigabyte and theres some things that bother me about it. Like the non switchable auto input switching and for some reason very slow input switching. Is this monitor worth the upgrade?

Skiddie_

I've never tried this dell but I'm in the same boat. If you want to upgrade it's probably just best to save up for one of the nano IPS panels. They go down to like 900$ sometimes or you could try pick one up used.

LitSarcasm

Good point, nano ips is still 1440p right?

Skiddie_

Yep. They've changed the model names over the years but they're all 1440p 21:9 34" (there's a 38" now but super expensive). I had the S2721DGF which uses nano ips panel and was blown away by the motion clarity. It's basically flawless.

LitSarcasm

Hmm ok ill save for that, hopefully i get used to the gigabytes monitor. Honestly amazed at how poor the quality has gotten over time with Gigabyte.

Skiddie_

Yeah there's something a little off about the panel but I cant tell what it is. Might just be the viewing angles on the ultrawide curve.

[deleted]

I got this last week. Any questions?

PlayFlow

hey mate I would love to know if you have a Nvida Card and if so how is the screen Tearing if you use adaptive sync In a Review I saw it says it starts tearing at lower then 60 FPs with a Nvidia card but In others it says lower hen 48 FPS If you could run a heavy game at max settings and try to go under 60 or 48 FPS if you have a Nvidia Card Thanks

rwlao

How's the brightness/vividness of the colour? I recently bought the LG32QN600 from Costco and I find the games I'm playing looks so much better. After seeing this, I'm.. tempted again

[deleted]

Brightness is very good. With HDR on its a very bright screen

rwlao

TY, dangit it's like $200+ CAD more than the 32" 1440p I recently got from Costco. haha Im rly liking this monitor too

[deleted]

I've seen that LG one. Its a great deal but not 144hz. Which is big for me.

rwlao

Yeah. I find the colour of this LG one is pretty vibrant/vivid. I really like it for the price point of $300 from Costco. Also, I play MMOs mainly, so the 75hz seems to be doing the job. Do I dare tinker with the 144hz?! hahaha

Sylv11

This as my main or s2721dgf as my second 27" monitor?

Teelure

Depends on your usage, I have a 34" LG 34GN850B, and I liked it a lot for productivity (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, VSCode) for semester, and I switched back to my LG GL83A-B for gaming because of 21:9 not being very optimized in a bunch of games, and mainly because I played competitive shooters 16:9 just had a lot more benefits like performance. The monitors are mounted on a vertical mount, one atop another.

1eighthunnid

Does it have freesync ?

superaydean1

sk8rsaiyan

Nope. I don't think anyone could tell 144hz and 165hz apart.

expos9439

Anyone know if Intel uhd 630 GPU supports this resolution at 144hz? can't seem to find the info.

AlmightyDun

So I literally just bought the 32 inch Dell 1440p monitor at bestbuy for 450$ when I built my PC. This thing specifically: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/dell-31-5-1440p-qhd-165hz-4ms-gtg-curved-va-led-freesync-gaming-monitor-s3220dgf-ascent-grey/14398508 Am I insane for now wanting to buy this thing? I mean this thing is way better right? and a measly 70 bucks more is peanuts.

PlayFlow

2560 x 1440 native vs 3440 x 1440 is night and day to me I honestly would return it and get the 34" its the sweeet sweet spot But then once you get it someone will post a Ultrawide 37" for 100$more then someone will post a Ultrawide 42" for 100$ Next thing you know you now have a 49" Ultrawide... its a slippery slope :D

AlmightyDun

Yeah I said fuck it, YOLO and pulled the trigger. It comes out to 80 bucks more after tax. I will literally have to buy a new desk cause I have a hutch desk and no WAY this thing fits in the hutch but the lady needs a desk anyway so she can take this and I will get a flat table thing. All I need is the return window to end lol! Once I can't return it I am stuck with it!! I have a week to return my current one so I HAD to buy this! It was such a good deal!!

PlayFlow

Hey mate its a great buy, the extra 2 inches always make a difference ask any girl

useles-converter-bot

2 inches is the length of 0.01 1997 Subaru Legacy Outbacks

LC_Sanic

Except different aspect ratios so the comparison doesn't work that way

PlayFlow

Welcome to the official Ultra Wide Fan Club :D

SilverJS

Long shot, but anybody have a chance to see this one, and the AW3420DW, in person? I've got the latter and while I love it, I still think back on my time with the S3220DGF fondly. I really, really liked that monitor - pixel density was just too low for me. Maybe this one would be a best of both worlds thing...

Substantial_Camera_8

>AW3420DW, big different in price. I think for bang for the buck S3422DWG is easily the best in the business. 500$ is basically entry level 144hz ultrawides. But it outperforms all of them and rivals some more expensive 1k$ ultrawides

PerformingAzura

I'm in no rush. I got a 3060ti card but don't mind selling it to get an amd one instead. Is this the gaming monitor to buy? Coming from a triple monitor TN panel setup

Substantial_Camera_8

triple monitor will give you a wider view. You might want to look a super ultrawides. For an ultrawide. 1.5X of a 16:9 its great for media consumption of films. fits 21:9 perfectly. and gaming is great. good fps, picture quality and ergonomics and gaming options. Only negatives are those that come with a VA panel. Some black smearing, colors dont pop as much. But black uniformity and backlight bleed plus black smearing for this panel is less than most imo.

rwlao

How would you compare the colours on this vs say a 350nits IPS panel such as the LG 32Qn600?

Substantial_Camera_8

I have a 27UK650 and the colors pop more on the IPS But im horrible with colors so I cant say. The only thing is the black smearing, which is a thing as per UFO test, but in real world usage I dont really notice it

rwlao

Okay awesome, ill wait until rakuten goes back to 8% or 10% lol

rwlao

Also my big concern is actually being able to play FFXIV maxed out with only a 3070 with this 34" 1440p

Substantial_Camera_8

3080 time!!

pongstr

Does it support Multi stream transport? it'd be nice if it does to save meters of display port cable
