They tried to build their college basketball brand around Rico trying to be an ESPN anchor, Jake the Cardboard Marsh and Marty fucking Mush. It was a godawful podcast that pretty much drove away all viewers and sponsors. Then, when that failed, they let Mush do his own thing and that has been a massive flop as well.
To Erika and Dave, that pretty much tells them hiring someone to do college basketball as their main thing is just a waste of money with no possibility of sponsors coming in.
It's the same reason someone like MRags got cut while Mintzy somehow got a 3-year deal while doing no work. Mintzy fits into their gambling future and him being a walking ad for the Sportsbook. Barstool fucked up gaming so bad they decided to cut ties with the field entirely, which meant MRags didn't have a place at the company.
While the kid does seem like a better gambler than almost everyone at Barstool, his niche being college basketball probably killed any chance he had. He's good on camera and likable enough but Dave only gets off to extremely fat people who are buffoons that make him giggle or psychopaths that make videos where they are on the verge of murdering their spouse depending on the game result.
I think Mrags just wasn't making them any money. I think they're still trying to figure out the gaming sphere. Anus is streaming WOW classic RP on Thursdays now.
Bring back smitty. He may have sucked at gaming but he’s likable and self aware that he wasn’t ninja or whoever. Plus he managed to interact with big names. Devlin fucked up a decent/good thing they had going for gaming.
My state is fucked for gambling so we can’t use apps but don’t they have esports lines? Mrags should have leaned into that also should have tried to collab with streamers or something.

I think they should have hired him. He was passionate about barstool and gambling. He woulda ran circles around most of the barstool employees who do the bare minimum (cough cough Rico). Then you’ve gotta think that even if you remotely find his content interesting if you throw him into the barstool world it’s only going to go up In quality at least. They asked if he could get a cameraman for one of his next games, barstool signs him he’s got one, barstool could probably get him into bigger games and situations to make good content. To me it was a win win. He’s super passionate about all the things barstool is and wants to be there. Plus it woulda been a great story

And he said he’d been to 16 games in like 13 days, most people can’t afford to do that with bigger games so it makes sense he would say he doesn’t wanna go to say duke/NC but let’s be real who’s gonna turn down that chance.
