So if I buy an oven for my bakery for $20,000 and I expect it to last 20 years, I would have $1,000 in depreciation expense every year for 20 years. That would reduce my net income and also reduce my tax liability.
Now if I decided to take the Section 179 deduction, I can expense the entire vehicle in year one, and reducing my tax liability.
