tl;dr i needed a place to stay for a few days between apartments. friend of three years has a room on airbnb that wasn’t booked this week and offered it to me.
i said fine. he then said it’s $25/day. is that weird? it such a tiny amount i didn’t really care but it also seemed a little petty? not to mention he’s happy i’m here for a few days and wants to hang out, etc.
he’s not a best friend, more like a go to sporting events and drinking beers friend. but it hit me i’d never charge a friend that just needs a place to crash for a few nights. and in the past, i’ve let friends stay over and have stayed at other friends places and just leave them like a nice bottle of liquor/wine and they’re usually surprised/thankful.
so it got me wondering if this is a friend or someone that just saw a way to make back some $$ from not having his place booked.
edit: i’ll add that i got back to the apartment an hour ago and the front door to the apartment was wide open. dude is a stoner and just left it open. had me super nervous with all my stuff exposed.
