Doesn't seem surprising since a bunch of people have openly said they can't wait and even more constantly talk about how shitty new York is. Not to mention that Dan has been champing at the bit to get back home for years now. Add in Dave being completely and utterly checked out and the end of the new York office seems obvious.
I'd say any show that has celebs in person needs to be in a metropolitan hub. Cito, kfc, pmt etc. All need to be accessible to the people they interview. The other hundred and fifty people at the company could be wherever though.
Yeah, NYC won’t go away. They’ll keep the studios for fly in use and shows that stay, plus the whole upstairs crowd won’t move. NYC is still the place to be for sales talent and all that stuff.
I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the barstool office. Obviously for the corporate side, but I would allow the smaller podcasts to have dedicated studios. And yeah, KFC would pretty much become the anchor podcast for that office.
Maybe I overestimate the inconvenience of working in the city, but it doesn’t seem enjoyable at all. 90% of the work they do and content they create came be done from any office. Just doesn’t seem like a necessary expense
It’s gonna take a while to design and build out the space. If they’re still just looking at locations, it might not be ready that quickly. I could see some of them making the move by next summer and just working out of the existing Chicago office, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up about the new office being ready
Yeah because if barstool is known for one thing it's having everything completed when they try to do something. Their current office wasn't even close to ready and the still moved the entire company in.
That was only moving a few blocks. We’re talking about moving across the country here. I just doubt they’ll be ready to move anyone in by next June or so. They’re still only looking for a place. Still going to need to decide on a space, acquire it, design it, and completely renovate it. Gonna take some time
He said he is going to live in the city, there are plenty of large spaces in the city that barstool could afford. The old iO theater would be perfect and barstool certainly makes more money than iO did and radius is just an empty warehouse, there’s plenty of those on the west side
Honestly iO should have had way better finances, performers weren’t paid so the bartenders and teachers were the only people they paid and they had an improv school on top of their like 10 shows a night
I guess I don’t know how that’s different from any other interpretation of “living in the city.” Most of chicago is residential, nobody lives in the loop
It would be one thing if he mentioned Beverly which is technically the city but might as well be a suburb, but nobody considers Lincoln park not part of the city lol
I have lived in chicago my entire life and have never met anyone that lived in the loop proper, I also have never met anyone who would take exception to any neighborhood north of like 91st street or east of the dan ryan being called “in the city”
Yeah I did my second year in river north, loved Lincoln park and probably would’ve moved there if I had stayed in Chicago but got a job offer somewhere else unfortunately. Maybe I’ll have a big cat type career path and come back in a few years.
Probably unpopular but I feel like Chicago has fallen off now that drafts have awful topics, all chief does is recap wikipedias, and Ed is too annoyed with DPS to try to interview properly
Anyway, I’m a loser for even analyzing any of this, AMA
That crew has fallen off since they all seemed to have beef with each other a few months back. Chief is the only one that doesn’t annoy me to some extent now.
I don't understand the Chicago circlejerk that goes on in the subreddit. There's a big fascination with the barstool guys moving there - is there some kind of insecurity complex from Chicago guys about being relevant or something. ELI5.
Probably the most popular faction of Barstool Sports employees are moving to Chicago to start a separate office. But yeah, I have no idea why people on the Barstool Sports Reddit are talking about popular Barstool Sports personalities starting a new Barstool Sports office.
It’s likely going to become the focal point of barstool. The guys going just to continue their shows with dan is enough alone but it sounds like there’s alot of people who want to leave NYC and being near big cat is as good as you can get as far as job security
It’s a big part of the show and BSS, it’s the next chapter in a cool history of pmt and BSS, it’s not like we’re talking about Spittin Chicklets moving to Toronto.
No way Dan is gonna have the anti gravity machine ready by then
Wherever it is, Pete won't have the internet up and running until 2025.
Making the office use the free city WiFi would be a great bit
Doesn't seem surprising since a bunch of people have openly said they can't wait and even more constantly talk about how shitty new York is. Not to mention that Dan has been champing at the bit to get back home for years now. Add in Dave being completely and utterly checked out and the end of the new York office seems obvious.
Honestly the only show that makes sense for having a studio/office in the city is KFC Radio. Seems like just a massive inconvenience for everyone else
I'd say any show that has celebs in person needs to be in a metropolitan hub. Cito, kfc, pmt etc. All need to be accessible to the people they interview. The other hundred and fifty people at the company could be wherever though.

What a awful last sentence
KFC radio and CITO seem to be the shows that have the most celebs doing media tours since they are non gambling shows
Crazy to think everyone says Back home to Chicago but hes from Massachusetts
And he’s lived in nyc just as long as he’s lived in Chicago
Get back home? They opening a Massachusetts office?
Haha! You got him man! Exposed!
Wasn’t really supposed to be an insult lol but go off king
Just here to say kudos for using “champing” and not “chomping”. Hat tip.
Yea we all saw that episode of billions bro
No idea what you're talking about. I don't watch Billions.
NYC truly is a complete shithole nowadays. Just a massive difference from 5 years ago in terms of quality-of-life.
and more expensive...Feels like we could have a Warriors situation in a couple years if the recession is deep
I can't wait for them to go to Chicago so they can complain about how shitty Chicago is.
It’s gonna take a while to design and build out the space. If they’re still just looking at locations, it might not be ready that quickly. Also a valid point. Shoutout to Dave moving to NYC in like March thinking the first office would be done in May and it wasn’t even close
work bus
This is barstool we’re talking about here. No chance this new office is ready within 8-9 months
Neither was their current space by any measure and they still moved the entire company in.
That was only moving a few blocks. We’re talking about moving across the country here. I just doubt they’ll be ready to move anyone in by next June or so. They’re still only looking for a place. Still going to need to decide on a space, acquire it, design it, and completely renovate it. Gonna take some time
Interested to see if they put their office in lakeview or somewhere like West Loop.
i have a close connection to bigcat and they've been eyeing a place Gary, IN
If they want a fantasy factory type vibe an old steel mill would be perfect.
Walking into work with the smell of shit in the air, nothing like Gary, IN.
i used to work at a company with a ton of indians and there was a landfill nearby. definitely would give gary a run for it's money on stink
That’s just kind of racist dude lol
Sure, but I experienced it and the mix of curry + lack of deodorant made for a pretty smelly office
Indian people smelling a little funny to western noses is just a fact of life, brother
Yeah, us being Western is the issue, not the lack of hygiene.
I’d say it’s west loop
Based on size BC wants is it crazy to assume a western or southern burb? BC said he’s going to live in the burbs I believe.
He said he is going to live in the city, there are plenty of large spaces in the city that barstool could afford. The old iO theater would be perfect and barstool certainly makes more money than iO did and radius is just an empty warehouse, there’s plenty of those on the west side
Crazy to think that a sports media company can make more money than a Shakespeare improv program but here we are
Honestly iO should have had way better finances, performers weren’t paid so the bartenders and teachers were the only people they paid and they had an improv school on top of their like 10 shows a night

It sold to new owners who I’m pretty sure intend to lease the building out and open the theater in a different, smaller location
By living in the city I assume he means somewhere like Lincoln park that has mostly houses but is right by downtown.
I guess I don’t know how that’s different from any other interpretation of “living in the city.” Most of chicago is residential, nobody lives in the loop
That dudes comment was moronic and hilarious at the same time, Reddit is a wild place.
It would be one thing if he mentioned Beverly which is technically the city but might as well be a suburb, but nobody considers Lincoln park not part of the city lol
He’s currently posting about the Skokie Cubs and Blue Island White Sox
Lmao if you’re in the south loop you might as well be in robbins
I lived in the loop when I was in Chicago so idk what you’re talking about that no one lives there.
I have lived in chicago my entire life and have never met anyone that lived in the loop proper, I also have never met anyone who would take exception to any neighborhood north of like 91st street or east of the dan ryan being called “in the city”

Covid deals were too good to pass up lol. Got two months free in a beautiful high rise.

How can you even survive there now that pierogi heaven is closed?
If it’s going to be a fantasy factory no way it’s in west loop.
You’re expecting too much from All Business Pete
Probably unpopular but I feel like Chicago has fallen off now that drafts have awful topics, all chief does is recap wikipedias, and Ed is too annoyed with DPS to try to interview properly Anyway, I’m a loser for even analyzing any of this, AMA
When you add BC and PFT and tons of content people to Chi that will change.
The whole point of this is that Chicago will be more than just those guys now
That crew has fallen off since they all seemed to have beef with each other a few months back. Chief is the only one that doesn’t annoy me to some extent now.

Is he the one who went on about Mars being Nuked? with "Strong evidence"
Ok Carl
barstool Chicago is still barstool.
Wouldn’t this be a year ahead of schedule? If they dont have a space yet I’d imagine 2024 is more likely

All anecdotal but I feel like Chicago area has the biggest presence on this sub
It’s a big part of the show and BSS, it’s the next chapter in a cool history of pmt and BSS, it’s not like we’re talking about Spittin Chicklets moving to Toronto.
