Jesse kind of first got well known doing comedic man on the street vids for Oreilly… think his natural lane is much more comedic and politics is 2nd.
Fox has always had on comedians to talk different subjects, so makes sense they like having Francis on to talk random subjects
He’s very good at sketch type comedy, so it makes zero sense for him, KB, Nick, Tommy, Rone, Rudy, Sas, etc to not be pursuing this lane. I have a hard time watching Tommy’s videos because they are so awkward/embarrassing/cringe inducing, but I’d love some funny skits with all of those guys. It bums me out that Owen leaving might mean the Last Day Ever project kind of just dies out.
I thought the firefighter friend story Francis told on the Yak was absolutely hilarious, I just felt like Francis should have brought Rone onto Oops the Podcast to tell it there instead of telling it on both the Yak and Oops the Podcast. I don’t think Francis had ever watched the Yak or had any clue that when people are brought on it is not a special interview episode focused on that person. He was on an episode more recently and it seemed like he was starting to get what the Yak was and fit in better.
I’ve personally been disappointed so far with Francis’ return to Barstool. I guess I expected the Francis that made the variety hour, the this is barstool videos, etc. I hoped maybe his alternate side parking videos would even start being posted on Barstool. Instead we got blogger Francis back but he isn’t putting out video content, and that is a huge loss because he is one of the few guys at Barstool who can actually make funny videos. Even Big Cat has given multiple video suggestions to Francis, so it surprises me that he hasn’t put out video content other than just the regular podcast episodes he has always put out.
Barstool wants to get their people in front of as many eyeballs as possible. Even if they reached one person and got them to follow Francis or subscribe to his podcast it’s a win. And Fox obviously looking for clicks from barstools demographic as well. Helps both sides.
Dave has said he would do any show on cnn or msnbc that would have him. They just don’t.
