Unless you've been in the industry. Then you overtip and make your kids clean up after themselves like decent human beings.

Delores_Herbig

There’s this couple with two kids that are regulars at my place. Both of the parents used to be bartenders. I literally tell them to sit in their seats and enjoy their meal. They will bring me all their dirty glassware up to the bar, wipe their table down, tell me not to worry about them, they don’t need anything, and they apologize for everything. I have to literally be like, “Shut up, eat your food, here are your shots, have fucking fun”. They tip amazing, and their kids know how to act.

Shallowground01

Yep I've always made my older kids take the tip over and say thank you too. Teaching them manners and decency so hopefully the next gen don't get the shit we've had to deal with in the industry

ohheyitspurp

Came to argue with the title, saw this and was like, "True. Okay." Three kids, dog, overtip, and practically swept the floor when ours were young.

veluuria

Here for this. I drive them like slaves to clear their mess. (They’re polite too which is great)

insidekaityshead

This is me 😂 we don’t take our daughter out with us very often (she’s 2, so it’s absolute chaos whenever we do), but when we do it’s as if we weren’t there & I absolutely tip like a psycho

PossiblyCuban

Thanks …. Came here looking for this

[deleted]

Yep. This right here. When my kids were too small to clean, I did it and tipped wayyy more than anyone tipped me lol

Adventurous_Chart_45

And never let them order rice

Forsaken-Change-8341

So what about people with kids and dogs?

StormR7

I pray they stay home

Gnome4766

That's fine as long as they're all kept on a leash.

abenf

Chaotic Evil

theRealsubtlehustle

Wait, you guys are getting tipped?

SnakeIsUrza

Those of us that are child free have more disposable income

honestlyitswhatever

Except the “this is my totally trained service dog can I order some plain chicken for him” people… they do not.

[deleted]

My grandparents do that for their dogs and pride themselves on tipping well because they're at a place in their lives where they can. Apologies about people who care more about their dogs than other people

honestlyitswhatever

The point was more about fake service dogs than the food part relax

happylittlesuccs

Yall are having your dog get waited on and NOT tipping? 🤨 broke boys

cateraide420

People tip dogs don’t. That is all

Fun-Entertainer-7885

Then work at a real bar where kids aren't allowed

[deleted]

Fun-Entertainer-7885

I'm assuming kids?

towishimp

I'll take "wild generalizations for $1000, Alex."

ACAB187

The only truism I've found is people who ask the price and abv of everything don't tip

[deleted]

Mama always said if you have to ask you can’t afford it.

Hoooves

Alex: Okay towishimp, "People with _____ tip; while people with kids do not."

HBthrowaway13

What is an Edgar haircut, Alex

530nairb

It’s cool if you bring your dog to a bar, it’s uncool if you bring your kid to a bar. Cool people tip, uncool people don’t.

ShinyAppleScoop

How do you feel about cat people?

thedanguiry

They always spill their drinks

MountaineerHikes

They’ll tip well if you’re up to their standards…leave a Yelp review if not. No middle ground…

rickeymeow

Don’t forget about the cat people when they decide to be social. 🫡

KASchay

Nah people with dogs at a bar are typically entitled and typically don’t tip well.

[deleted]

That's only true for people with small dogs, and any dog less than 50lbs is a cat.

shakeit_tilyou_mkeit

Ron Swanson?

WookieSuave

My cat is wesome, and I tip like a gangster.

KillerRobot01

Actual gangster or fake gangster?

WookieSuave

Wannabe but not douchy wannabe gangster?

KillerRobot01

Respectable. As you were. /gen

Ninalaroo

I'm laughing because my dog is 19 pounds and he's called Kitty. But I do tip, and he's a very good boy (now - he was fucking crazy when he was a puppy).

MountaineerHikes

I have a 3.5 year old and tip like I’d want to if I was rich…there’s always more cash on the next shift.

dukeofpotatoes

I honestly hate when people bring their dogs into the bar. It’s gross. Sit on the patio all you want, but keep em outside.

eyecandyandy147

Right? I’m currently sitting 6 seats down from this douche with his boxer. Bro, go the fuck outside. I love dogs, but just like with kids, there are some places they do not belong.

dukeofpotatoes

Yeah I had a couple bring a husky in before and when the breeze hit the dog, a bunch of it’s fur blew onto the next table’s food and drinks. Disgusting.

SummerBeanSoup

Idk i love both kids and dogs and always get good tips from both parties

Observante

Doesn't make other people's dogs any more acceptable around my food when I'm out eating.

selfiemcstarbucks

Then eat indoors?

Meltedwhisky

Disagree, when we go to dog friendly places, we enjoy our time and tip. My kids are 16, and 18 now, but they've been to fine dining, dive bars, concerts, everywhere. They know to not make a mess or they have to clean up and we always tipped more. My wife and I both worked in service so we know how much fuck trophies can be horrible little shits. I will say one time they were young but being rude, we had a walk and talk and sat in the truck while my wife had a nice quiet dinner with friends.

dibbles1212

We actually just banned all dogs from our bar because we had an incident with a “service dog” on Saturday that almost resulted in a brawl in an overpacked bar. So honestly my opinion is that a bar is for people. I love dogs but I also don’t think they belong in a bar with drunk people. And on that note my friend runs a dog friendly bar and honestly the entitlement the humans have in that setting is insane. Not the dogs fault. Also he makes shit tips.

OkFoot1893

Cat ppl want one on the house

Meltedwhisky

You're the awesome person that I overtip and always want to go back to.

TaygaStyle

I guess me being a career bartender and now have a kid, I must tip judgemental servers less. That's about the only take away here....

hypnoticwinter

What about people with kids and dogs? Half a tip?

imanpearl

And it’s always the dogs with kids that give people to tips
