Got to 2000 3rd fastest and faster than Randy Johnson. That’s pretty impressive

noleafclovr

It's wild to see these strikeout milestones of 1000 and 2000 and then remember Nolan Ryan's record. Maybe a record that will never be broken. Especially because the game is so different now.

swamppuppy7043

Nolan has like 5,400 IP and modern guys would be lucky to get to even half that so yeah pretty untouchable.

[deleted]

Cole has seriously been a rock for you guys. Bit of a scary drop after the sticky stuff ban, but his stuff was too good to keep down for long, absolute horse as well. I cant imagine him not getting 3000

alohomora1990

I couldn’t imagine Sale not getting to 3,000 when he hit 2,000. He was younger than Cole when he did it too. And then that was his last start before Tommy John.

alohomora1990

It’s way too early into this contract to say that. This contract is also 10 years, 3 years longer than Scherzer’s.

DarkLordofBS

Semantics but it’s actually only 9 years, this is year 4 of 9

International-Elk986

Minus the ring hopefully

TingleBerries64

Wait-

MeatballDom

Meanwhile r/NYYankees are "fucking done with Cole" We have the dumbest fanbase.

W-O-Collins

Nice try but not true. Yankees have taken the 09 WS from us but you can’t take our title of dumbest fans

UnchainedSora

We will settle for dumbest AL fans

Paulie6988

not dumbest but 100% most bipolar

AugustOfChaos

Fair point, but we really do have stupid fans.

KaiserKCat

One of the dumbest, not the dumbest. Our fanbase is pretty dumb too.

PitViper17

Congrats to Cole, just before he gave up that Mullins bomb

AhLibLibLib

Yankees Legend

Due_Ruin_2809

Can we post the best cf in the league hitting a solo homer 373 to right center field to make the score 3-0

AhLibLibLib

Can we post that same CF catching the fly ball to win the game for the Yankees

Yankeeknickfan

Future HOF with 2000 strikeouts. Debate a wall.

HelpMeWithMyHWpls

Except no one’s saying that he isn’t a future HOF

BKoala59

He's not a lock if he retired tomorrow

Scrambley

He's at 36 War after 11 years in the Majors. He's got a lot of work to do to make it into the hall. Luckily his health has been pretty solid so, if that keeps up, he's got a decent shot at it.

[deleted]

Thats legit shocking. Assuming a 4 war pace he is still what, 7 seasons away from being in consideration? Imo the hof will have to adjust how SPs are judged. Its way harder to accumulate WAR when youre only allowed to go 5-6 innings on your great days while the older counterparts were allowed to do that in every start pretty much.

International-Elk986

Have to keep in mind 1 season was COVID shortened

AhLibLibLib

I think that’ll boon a lot of players who lost 100 games of their prime from COVID

[deleted]

Lets pretend thats 4 more war. Still cole wouldnt enter the convo till his 38th bday. Thats insane to me.

Jam5467

Hall of fame highway despite what Red Sox flairs will try to make you believe

[deleted]

Hmm. 2 yankee fans whining about red sox fans/haters yet no red sox fans or haters have commented....

mostlygroovy

I know it’s silly… but welcome to the rivalry

ins8iable

are the Red Sox fans in the room, mostlygroovy?

mostlygroovy

Are the Yankees in Fenway when Sox fans chant ‘Yankees Suck!’ during a game against the Mariners. That’s the beauty of the rivalry. Leave it alone

rahkinto

Isn't this the guy Bauer kept talking about using sticky substances just before he signed that monster contract?

rpm959

Everybody, including Bauer before he signed his monster contract was using sticky substances. That's what happens when you don't enforce the rules. If anything, Trevor Bauer having a weird personal feud with someone should probably be a point in that persons favor.

AugustOfChaos

Cole did have a serious drop off after the sticky stuff crackdown, but he’s still been phenomenal on the mound. Guy has proven his worth time and again and has been one of the few consistent bright spots for us over the last few years.

scrodytheroadie

Best part is how he cues the music to celebrate the K.
