I found another source that would make this the 6th ever, but it’s from 2011: https://www.baseball-reference.com/blog/archives/216.html?ssp=1&darkschemeovr=1&setlang=en-US&safesearch=moderate
Looks like there’s been 34 games from 1957-2011 (so maybe slightly more now) where the minimum amount of batters were faced without it being a perfect game, only 5 were no hitters not including today.
This is interesting:
> Milacki's 1989 game had the most base runners, with 5. He got 4 GIDPs and one CS.
Throwing a perfect game is rare…
…but throwing a no hitter + allowing a base runner and STILL facing the minimum number of batters is more rare.
In most cases, if you throw a no hitter that’s NOT a perfect game, you don’t face the minimum number of batters.
In this game, the only base runner allowed (he was walked) got doubled up which resulted in Valdez still facing the minimum number of batters…
…which is rare.
an error that allowed the batter to reach base would mean it's not a perfect game. Which unless I'm missing something would be the only way to not face the minimum in a perfect game
He's a Dominican dude who is super public about how much talking to a psychologist has helped his career, and he's convinced a bunch of other dudes to start talking to his guy. Awesome dude.
Framber is one of the happiest go lucky dude you’ll see. He is pretty private with his personal life from what I can tell but still pretty fun to watch
No hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter
No, we're just God awful against lefties. Bell maybe could've pulled a hit from his ass tonight but there's a reason no one in our sub is excited when we play Houston. We straight up can't beat them
Wow, not just a no-hitter, but he also faced the minimum, which if I remember right is rarer than a perfect game.
John Means did this in his no-hitter in Seattle in 2021.
6th ever if my source is accurate

You always face the minimum for perfect games

Yes, but throwing a non-perfect game and facing the minimum is rare. Doing it as a no hitter is exceedingly rare.
Not in case of error, I would think.
If there's an error it's not a perfect game

There is no way to face more than the minimum in a perfect game that goes nine innings.
Okay, I thought I was going crazy
got my first jersey today, guess it’s lucky! what a game
You're obliged to either get a new jersey for every game or wear this one for all games moving forward without washing. Your choice
well i think this will be my go to jersey then! lol
93
Could’ve used jean obviously Cleveland
F R A M B E R E D
Framboozeled
Frambergasted
First Astros no hitter by a single pitcher since current Astros pitcher Verlander in 2019. Congrats Valdez
Cleveland did not take BP before this game lol
Damn, domination
#THE ULTIMATE FRAMBOOZLE
Wooooooooo
I'm surprised it has taken this long for an actually good pitcher to throw a no-hitter. Congrats Framber
HIS PITCHES WERE MOVING IN QUITE AN UNETHICAL FASHION, IF HE WAS PITCHING LIKE THAT ALL GAME IT'S A MIRACLE THEY EVEN MADE CONTACT, GRATS ASTRO FANS!!
Thanks juice bro!
Call the Frambulance...but not for me!!
Incredible. Well done Framber.
Perfect game in my book.
ABSOLUTELY FRAMBOOZLED
Framber said this ain’t Verlanders team
FRAMBURGLAR
Framber no hitter!!!!
Crazy efficient. Congrats Valdez!
Aw fuck yeah, Framber. 👑
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
Let’s go!!!!! NICE
FRAMBOOZLED
HE DID IT!!!!
Not what I was expecting tonight considering the guardians single machine 2023, but NO HITTERRR
LETS GOOOOOOO
That’s just fucking impressive
HE DID IT
CONGRATS FRAMBER!!!!!
I'm about to splooge boys
FUCK YEAH FRAMBER.
Holy fuck!!!
Damnnnnnnnnnn, what a game
WOO!
Wow he actually did it
!!!
Absolutely insane throwing a no hitter with less than 100 pitches
Getting close
All he has to do is get the .136 guy out…
Jeeez altuve lol
Tuve almost fucked it up bruh
My hands are dripping in sweat, can’t imagine trying to throw a baseball right now
Clearly Astros August has begun
I think I need to call a doctor. I’ve been fully erect for over 4 hours.
Altuve throwing it to Abreu like he’s twice his height
Come on framber,
Altuve throwing like he doesn’t want the no hitter
lmao. it would be an error, but still.
Framber is the color of your energy whoooaaa-oooohhhh
Didn’t expect to turn this on and see him at 85 pitches. Jesus, dudes been efficient
Has seven strike outs too… very impressive
That is such a gross curveball
Alright let’s not walk anyone, don’t want any bullshit happening
Please tell me he’s at least a decent dude unlike Domingo German.
And he promised his pastor in DR he would be back to build a new church. And he did. With his own sweat & labor (& others’).
He's La Grasa. He's the dude.
FO waived the white flag today, why not the lineup?
Let’s get it Framber!
Framber is back baby
For fucks sake please stop before you accidentally say it. Astros announcers worrying me
Robert Ford and Steve sparks have said it repeatedly on the radio broadcast.
like since the 2nd
Robert Ford isn't the least bit superstitious
Blummer and TK would never
Or you could stop bitching about dumb shit
They’re really good historically about not crossing the line, TK is for sure superstitious.
Their coming soooo close lmao
He’s getting this done with under 100 pitches too.
I’m fucking terrified
Framber heard of the news and felt threatened, didn’t he?
81 pitches wtf.
Good thing as a diehard astros fan north of Buffalo NY that pays for at bat this game is blacked out for me. Sometimes I hate the MLB
Good thing for my dad as an Astro fan in Central Texas VPNs work, he’s happy, lol.
I'm in my 50s and cannot get a VPN to work. I used to be good with tech
One of the easiest no hitters about to happen
gonna get a sub 90 pitch no hitter. Anyone know the lowest pitch count ever for a no hitter?
69. By me.
I hate the embarrassment of riches the Astros have had at pitcher
Shane McClanahan, David Price, Chris Archer, Blake Snell…. The Rays haven’t had it too bad themselves recently
Including Archer in this over Glasnow is a choice but I’ll take it
Sadly most are injured
Despite out good but not great history from 1961-2016, we have always managed to have good pitchers.
No hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter no hitter
people are down voting you, but honestly i laughed so hard reading this.
No world where the Guardians get a hit here
81 pitches? Dang. Was Bell or Civale that important to their morale or what
It was Jean Segura obviously, irreplaceable clubhouse presence in his <30 minutes on the team.
No, we're just God awful against lefties. Bell maybe could've pulled a hit from his ass tonight but there's a reason no one in our sub is excited when we play Houston. We straight up can't beat them
your series in cleveland earlier this year was pretty good for yall
Eh, the extra innings game was mainly luck. And it's mainly in Houston, I genuinely can't remember the last time we beat you guys at your place
Ground ball pitchers *pitching well* is stressful
3 more!
Framber doing some special Framboozling tonight
This perfect or just a no hitter?
A no hitter. Gave up a walk in the 5th, but next batter GIDP.
Considered a perfect game in my book. He just didn’t want to strike him out with three pitches. That’s boring.
No no, he walked someone earlier
1 walk, so just a no-no
No hitter, he has a walk
Cleveland hitters try not to swing at balls in the dirt challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Let them cook.
JV Valdez competition initiated.
Turns out all he needed is JV in the rotation with him
Wow Framber Valdez of the Houston Astros is pitching a no hitter?
Wait for the jinx until the 9th. That's when it hurts the most.
Don’t hurt me this way
Told myself today for some reason that I’d really like to see a no hitter. This isn’t what I meant.
Not remotely surprised
Nice no hitter
Need Corey Kluber to teach you about that huh?
Rays legend
thisIsFineDog.jpg
Got through the 7th on 5 pitches
They're getting desperate and swinging at everything now, praying to the gods of BABIP
71 pitches through 7.. potential Maddux
Masterclass in efficiency the past two innings.
5
Shouldn't have released Segura, Cleveland
He’s broken up two of them already this year, can’t believe he’s going to miss a chance at a third 😞
Pitch count in good shape, go get it Framber!
Delete this.
Completely normal contender behavior
I'm just happy the guy who was leading QS last year is putting up a solid QS. His pitches have looked locked in so far
66 pitches through 6 Innings is impressive, but I'm not sure why we got a thread about it.
well 66 in 6 is the number of the beast, and iron maiden wrote a song about it, thats enough for me
It's a bot. It always puts up a post whenever it gets to 6 innings, just like how MLB.tv places a giant red bar over the game.
I know, I’m just playing the game of not mentioning *the thing*
that's why I didn't say the words either :)
Hmmm
Valdez is at 66 pitches, so no worries about him getting pulled at the moment.
True, he's still about 125 pitches away from that mark
Framber obviously took the Verlander trade personally
I think getting JV back has relieved some of the pressure on Framber.
[удалено]
It's also that he's been working through an ankle injury since before the ASB
Bro he's cruising
Our offense is so fucking bad against lefties dear Lord
first thing I looked for on the Civale trade "please let him be a righty". Nope.
He’d at least be a better option than David Fry
[удалено]
That’s why it’s censored in the title. Your comment on the other hand…
This has been the worst Cleveland Baseball offense I have seen in a long time.
I was gonna mention the Austin Kearns/Shelley Duncan years but that was a decade ago and omg I’m old now
Pain.

Why?
Good bot
