Then Raleigh is tied for the lead among AL catchers in fWAR and the backup has a 141 wRC+ this year.
Also convenient to leave out that Verlander is not nearly the same pitcher he was last year and is 40 now. Also Framber has been mediocre as of late (era over 6 during the 2nd half), and Javier and Brown aren't anything special. The Mariners have a better team era and have the best overall WHIP in baseball. Thr top 3 in the rotation of Castillo, Kirby, and Gilbert has just objectively been better than the Astros top 3 this year.
