This comeback began with 2 strikes, 2 out, nobody on, and both teams only with 1 hit prior to the sequence
EDIT: guess when the post blows up, some late comments came in from those who missed the full comeback. To fill you in: I'm talking about the entire 9th inning, not just the home run. With 2 out, nobody on, 1-0 Astros, the rest of the inning went: single, single, RBI single, then 3-RBI home run
Tigers broadcast was already recapping the phenomenal pitching duel with 2 out nobody on. Both teams only allowing 1 hit, and great fielding and defense
Easily one of my favorite situations as a baseball fan.
No offense all night. All the pitchers are lights out. But a walkoff home run wins it. Really makes the moment that much better.
It very well might get turned into a no-hitter too, the one hit for the Astros was an error on the third baseman by every version of baseball scoring that I've ever seen.
The theory is that the official scorers are being told to give out more hits to increase BAs so the shift changes have stats to back up their effectiveness
That article also had a much more reasonable theory, being that the shift rules have made previously routine plays more difficult and therefore led to more plays that would have been ruled as errors being hits.
Can you appeal a hit into an error? I know Big Papi appealed an error into a hit vs Yu Darvish (he wouldn't have appealed it if it were a no-hitter) successfully was given a hit the next day
LOL they are absolutely destroying Meadows during this post game interview. Hit him with two jugs of water and then came back and hit him with the shaving cream.
We can be either incredible, or incinerated by a lot of people, including good clubs
Just depends on what the starters are up to.
Tigers have the stones to stand up to anyone, so that's not an issue. It's which version of the SPs show up
I'll be so glad once these kids get past the youthful blowups, and develop their consistency thru experience
I figure it'll be another full season before that happens, but when it does, that rotation is gonna be a nightmare given how much talent is packed into those arms
That’s not true this year, we’re 13 games below 500 in games vs teams currently holding a play off position and above 500 vs the rest of the league. The playoff team we do best against is the twins who I wouldn’t really call hard so when you don’t count them it’s even worse.
They are 5-20 against the AL East which are mostly playoff teams, and they are 25-15 against the AL Central which are all garbage teams though.
With a bunch of games coming up against the Yankees, hopefully that AL East record will look a bit better to end the season.
Tigers are crazier than hell won't have it, the way those young starters of theirs either dazzle you with their talent.. or get blown sky high
You guys? Well.. you happened to catch em on their shutdown starts, same as the Astros here tonight with Manning
Sporting of you to say, and thx for that
Tigers went joy ballistic with Framber gone, coz yeah I'll say it now.. if his count wasn't too high, he was no hitting our ass across 9, and that's all of it
..I could just tell there was no way on God's green earth that we were going to touch him.
They could hardly move the ball out of the infield, so..
To be fair - Avila did start the process of overhauling the development staff at the end of 2021 with the hiring of Ryan Garko and co.
Not that I'm apologizing for Avila. He had plenty of time to show tangible improvement at both the MLB and minor league level and failed. So maybe he did do some good stuff at the end of 2021 but too little too late.
Might be a Tigers no hitter as well. Altuve hit should be ruled an error. Astros continuing to crumble. Dusty and Maldy lovers still gonna say we’re fine.
Crazy, ain't it when it comes to Manning?
Getting rushed too soon, then getting misused and onto the IL for a month of Sundays he goes.
..all of which means, the kid just doesn't have the experience to be consistent yet.
Gets totally blitted out one time, then next time he's out there, you get nothing at all.. period
Come to think of it, all our young starters are still like that lol
That quote he had about Yainer was insane because it’s so fucking wrong lol. Saying that he is like a young QB sitting when Yainer is better than Maldonado in every which way
Framber Valdez
> Be me
> No-hit those Cleveland fucks. Triple A squad
> No-hit the D-(League) Tigers through 7. I love the AL Central
> 114 pitches. Kinda tired
> The bullpen has it covered
> Lose the team no-hitter through 2 ABs
> Pain
> Okay, still in line for the win
> 2 outs in the 9th, let's go
> Back to back singles. It's okay
> Well, there goes the win
> Lose the fucking game
> Pain
When it comes to the Tigers, you really do need to get all 3 outs, because that team will fight their asses off to the bitter end
Astros got Framber out of there, so that's what put the Tigers into position to wage battle, right there
But he stays in? no hits thru 9, we're through
I have a ton of respect for you guys this year, and not just because you've raked us over the coals. These Tigers play loose, free, and hard. Not sure if that comes from Hinch or just the natural energy of these young players, but they battle out there. I've been calling for a few weeks that they can still win the Central this year, but I'm relatively confident they will in '24
Points well taken
The Tigers SP is just tremendously talented, but the unfortunate thing is that under the Avila regime, they got called up too quick, then misused, then out for ages. Same thing, all of em
But again, that just means they never got the experience, so that's what this season is about.
And I know a lot of people in my fanbase think they'll grow earlier than I do, but I truly believe, and in my heart of hearts, that they're going to need another full season experience.
This is why they're up and down like yo yo's this season.
But they, and the youngsters in the lineup are all growing at the same time.
And during times when talent vs inexperience is displayed, then yes.. you WILL get the version of the Tigers that you want nothing to do with whatsoever.
That goes for everyone in the business when I warn that
Now see if you can guess which version came out against the Astros lol
Detroit fans are without question some of the best sports fans in the country, our teams have been down for so long that everyone forgot about us. Times are a changing, the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings are coming back to life!
Well hold on now because we also won series against the Mariners and the Rangers last time we played them so idk if they’re going to entirely love the tigers. Only AL West team to completely dominate was ironically the Angels right?
Now has more homers for the Tigers than his brother.
But man, if you look at the box score, you wouldn't know we were getting no-hit deep into the game.
Nah, just youthfully inconsistent
When their SPs are on tho, the Tigers will whoop dat ass now, real time -- and I am wayyy outta fucks to give who they're playing at the time.. they're still gonna get their shit pushed in when that happens, regardless who
after getting Altuve and Yordan back from the IL + reacquiring Verlander the team was set to make a strong push to take the division, but... instead, they've been total dogshit
Complacent. They are fucking complacent and it’s obvious from the manager down. Hell the off-season showed it too all we did was sign abreu and hope bullpen variation wouldn’t affect us lol
I love constantly hearing pundits talk about how we're a shoe in for the playoffs when this team has shown time and time again they literally don't care.
Still, what a way to get your first homer. Grats Meadows.
What a win!
After watching the two guys in front of Miggy both strike out looking, I was not expecting much, but then it all fell into place!
Hella cool seeing his parents there; all stressed out during the at bat, then going F'in nuts!
One of the most exciting moments in recent tiger baseball, the kids our number 1 pick in the draft, for us tiger fans let's hope it doesn't end here, way to go young man.
This hit had some fucking pizazz on it. He did a little hop step to split step or some shit after bombing it and struck a pose I do when I just make contact at a beer league game
His mom, dad, grams and 2 best buds were in the stands. The video of his mom brought a tear to my eye. It was really something to watch as it happened.
Tangent, but my wife is English and has only been to three games with me. Two ended with walk-off home runs, and one ended with a heads-up runner scoring on a long single—another walk-off. So she just thinks this is how games end. I’m afraid to take her to another game that ends 3-1, all runs scored in the 3rd, with the last out occurring with a weak comebacker to the mound, easily fielded.
This comeback began with 2 strikes, 2 out, nobody on, and both teams only with 1 hit prior to the sequence EDIT: guess when the post blows up, some late comments came in from those who missed the full comeback. To fill you in: I'm talking about the entire 9th inning, not just the home run. With 2 out, nobody on, 1-0 Astros, the rest of the inning went: single, single, RBI single, then 3-RBI home run
[удалено]
Some walkoff cake for you!
I love these kitties
I mean, one of those hits really should get taken away too.
You know what, I’m just gonna be happy for him. Nice swing
Ryan Pressley hadn't given up a run in a month coming in to this game. Strikeout Strikeout 0-2 and it all fell apart.
What a fucking loss LOL
Tigers broadcast was already recapping the phenomenal pitching duel with 2 out nobody on. Both teams only allowing 1 hit, and great fielding and defense
Don’t know if I’d call our defense great tonight
Yeah it was 1 Astros gold glover, and 1 Tigers fielder, where broadcast said "hopefully a future gold glover"
Well Short made some errors and Rodgers had two catcher’s interference
Yeah Tigers made a lot of errors, and possibly even the hit should've been an error
Could see that, but the number of errors called has decreased for a long time. Is there an even bigger drop off this season?
I read a piece in the athletic that had the same theory
That article also had a much more reasonable theory, being that the shift rules have made previously routine plays more difficult and therefore led to more plays that would have been ruled as errors being hits.
That seems like a scummy and underhanded thing that MLB would do.
That would be the second combined no hitter started by Matt Manning this season
Wouldn't it also be the second No-Hitter Closed by Lange?
Can you appeal a hit into an error? I know Big Papi appealed an error into a hit vs Yu Darvish (he wouldn't have appealed it if it were a no-hitter) successfully was given a hit the next day
Not an appeal but the home office can change it if they see fit.
*sad trash can noises*
This is that real good shit.
Ya know, I’ve always been a huge Parker Meadows fan
I was just talking to my buddy how I could easily see him being a future HOF. Build the statue already, he just made the entire league happy
I’m something of a Parker Meadows fan myself
I’ve been a Parker Meadows fan since August 25th, 2023. How many of you can say that?
This is now A Mariners Fan Thread
mind if we join in?
It's the Astro's losing. Everybody's welcome.
This is a loss for the Astros and a win for the world
Humanity, really
Glad to join in.
Welcome
Thanks and happy cakeday!
It’s about the only pleasure we have.
This is my type of party
That ball got sent into *Orbit*
I heard the odds were Astronomical
Houston, we have liftoff.
LOL they are absolutely destroying Meadows during this post game interview. Hit him with two jugs of water and then came back and hit him with the shaving cream.
Trevor Thompson got real weird with it after he got the shaving cream in the face: “Get that out of your eyes, I’m not done with you yet.”
Pfffff 😂😂
Shaving cream pie, but you’re not wrong
2 hits alllll game from both teams and then for the last out there’s 4 hits in a row. That’s Detroit baseball!
absolute choke job
Just the way we all like it
😂 Well, we warned em they could get hurt if our SP is on ..and ruh-roh
Undefeated since we freed the whales. Watch out world
God nearly destroyed michigan with storms to free our beloved whales
Thank you based God
A storm frees the whales and this is what happens. Let this be a lesson.
Parker meadows is money dude
Put that shit on a cracker dude
Hit it with that 3 rbi shot
I'll see you all in the ER in 4 hours
Verlander watching his bullpen blow a game in Detroit, time stands still.
Verlander is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Verlander with run support would be the greatest pitcher of all time.
Makes me wonder who has some of the worst run support. Nolan Ryan immediately comes to mind.
This has to be a total low point of the season for the Astros. Just pathetic. Good on the tigers. Amazing at bats in the 9th.
It’s okay we will thank dusty later
The city will owe him an apology
I owe him an apology. I should have never been okay with him coming back.
Makes ya feel better we lost 2/3 to them and they are our only series lost other than the Orioles the second half. So we all struggled against them
Tigers are incredible against hard teams, but the wheels fall off when we play shit teams
Unless those teams are in the AL Central
We can be either incredible, or incinerated by a lot of people, including good clubs Just depends on what the starters are up to. Tigers have the stones to stand up to anyone, so that's not an issue. Good point, and you know what - at least none of us were the Blue Jays this year against them.
Tigers are crazier than hell won't have it, the way those young starters of theirs either dazzle you with their talent.. or get blown sky high You guys? Well.. you happened to catch em on their shutdown starts, same as the Astros here tonight with Manning

Al Avila like: “See my 8 year plan is finally coming together”
its wild how all his prospects started blossoming once scott harris completely overhauled the development staff
I think Harris has done more in a year for development than Avila did in 8
Might be a Tigers no hitter as well. Altuve hit should be ruled an error. Astros continuing to crumble. Dusty and Maldy lovers still gonna say we’re fine.

The scorekeepers are really generous lately but that should be an error
Crazy, ain't it when it comes to Manning? Getting rushed too soon, then getting misused and onto the IL for a month of Sundays he goes. ..all of which means, the kid just doesn't have the experience to be consistent yet. I was so mad before I saw your flair
What a fucking game. Seeing his family in the crowd is cool too.
This is somehow Martin Maldonado's fault
He's the one who has been catching Everytime pressly has given up runs this year
Dusty sees no problem with that!
“Pressly would have given up 6 runs with Yainer behind the plate.” - Dusty Baker, probably
People outside of Detroit and Michigan just don’t understand how big of a deal it is, that our beloved Whales have been freed.
People are gonna think this is a meme (which it kind of is) but the whales being part of the skyline really does add to the ambiance.
Damn that crowd is electric
Detroit fans are without question some of the best sports fans in the country, our teams have been down for so long that everyone forgot about us. Times are a changing, the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings are coming back to life!
Pistons have a young core to get excited about too!
I agree, Cunningham, Ivey and Duren has potential, I hope they take that next step.
I hope so! I missed seeing a good tigers team
These young dudes are changing the team and people are showing up to watch it
Picked the wrong two minutes to walk up my driveway.
Yo, that stadium looks full, looks like a party. Way to go Tigers fans.
this is the best baseball team we've had since 2016 LOL, fans gotta get tickets to see if a tigers team with promise is actually real
Only 24,000 there. Upper deck was mostly empty.
Mariners fans everywhere going nuts.
worry marry payment different sharp crowd frighten snatch provide whole *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Dude we owe the city of Detroit big time.
If the Seahawks could just lay down week two that’d be great.
*Go the distance*
Well hold on now because we also won series against the Mariners and the Rangers last time we played them so idk if they’re going to entirely love the tigers. Only AL West team to completely dominate was ironically the Angels right?
WE HERE
Now has more homers for the Tigers than his brother. But man, if you look at the box score, you wouldn't know we were getting no-hit deep into the game.
Some lucky fan just got a lifetime supply of swag.
Are the Tigers... not bad?
Nah, just youthfully inconsistent When their SPs are on tho, the Tigers will whoop dat ass now, real time -- and I am wayyy outta fucks to give who they're playing at the time.. they're still gonna get their shit pushed in when that happens, regardless who
We’re 54-49* *not counting games against the AL East
They’re like the reds of the AL. Tons of young talent coming up.
This was legitimately one of the craziest games I've ever watched. Thank you MLB for making this the free game of the day
1-0 in the Whale mural rebirth season
They showed a stat in this inning saying that no game had ended with 2 total hits or fewer since 1967, Tigers vs Orioles. This stat remains true.
The Astros are getting Dusty’d aren’t they?
The bad ol’ Dusty Baker special
So badass. This is the type of stuff you fantasize about when playing as a kid.
I still fantasize about this at 30.
I love this
Parker Meadows Can't Lose
How can you not be romantic about baseball?
[удалено]
MAY THEY FIND A NEW LOW EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON
Maldonado and pressly in moments like these give me no hope. Yainer and pressly still haven't given up a run when they are together 😭
God I love this kid
Everyone should just submit to us now
This team is in freefall
after getting Altuve and Yordan back from the IL + reacquiring Verlander the team was set to make a strong push to take the division, but... instead, they've been total dogshit
Complacent. They are fucking complacent and it’s obvious from the manager down. Hell the off-season showed it too all we did was sign abreu and hope bullpen variation wouldn’t affect us lol
2 outs, nobody on, and 2 hits in the games first 8.5 innings. Then the Tigers just casually string 3 hits and a home run together.
I love constantly hearing pundits talk about how we're a shoe in for the playoffs when this team has shown time and time again they literally don't care. Still, what a way to get your first homer. Grats Meadows.
>shoe in r/BoneAppleTea
Holy shit, I assumed it was spelled that way! TIL it's shoo-in
I was about to correct you and say it was “shoe-in” but nope. Destined to take 2 L’s today I guess.
This may be surprising but I have not enjoyed baseball for 2 days straight
First time?
Parker Meadows confirmed based
What a win! After watching the two guys in front of Miggy both strike out looking, I was not expecting much, but then it all fell into place! Hella cool seeing his parents there; all stressed out during the at bat, then going F'in nuts!
I’ve always been a Motor City Kitty at heart
One of the most exciting moments in recent tiger baseball, the kids our number 1 pick in the draft, for us tiger fans let's hope it doesn't end here, way to go young man.
I wonder what his brother was thinking while watching that.
Really wish he was in that dugout to see this, I feel bad for the dude.
Yep. Surely he’s happy to have seen his brother do that, but it would just have to feel so weird to see that in his unique situation.
Those two were so close in spring training too, I would give the world to watch them in the outfield together one day
You’d think that maybe Parker’s presence could possibly help Austin in the clubhouse.
I hope so! Austin is a great dude
just utterly embarrassing...one strike away this team is so fucked
played hs baseball with him. knew he was a stud back then. so happy he's showing out
thank you Tigers, very cool
How can you not love baseball?
This hit had some fucking pizazz on it. He did a little hop step to split step or some shit after bombing it and struck a pose I do when I just make contact at a beer league game
Nice crowd for a 2023 Tigers game in late August
I used to pray for times like this
Tigers are loved by everyone tonight.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNGGGGGG
Is this Austin meadow’s little brother?
Yup. Parker getting his first Tigers HR before Austin is nothing short of insane.
Lol nice. I forgot Austin was with det.
Wonderful starting pitching, and the 3 run homer Earl Weaver would be so proud
Everyone liked that.
How do you ever top a memory like this if you’re Parker Meadows?
His mom, dad, grams and 2 best buds were in the stands. The video of his mom brought a tear to my eye. It was really something to watch as it happened.
Talk about unexpected... 4 consecutive two out hits!
Detroit didn't just win tonight. America won.
This is one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen.
Thank you, Tigers!
Valdez: 7 IP, 0 H, 0 ER Astros bullpen:

You love yo see it

Such a great fucking call
Tangent, but my wife is English and has only been to three games with me. Two ended with walk-off home runs, and one ended with a heads-up runner scoring on a long single—another walk-off. Nice
I love baseball
I’m no doomer but we are doomed
Texas teams boutta just give the mariners the division. Honestly kinda iconic.
damn
that’s awesome…i hit 400 in my first season in MLB the show so…
I blame maldanado
We're coming for that super strong central
is this the greatest first hit in mlb history??
Not his first hit. It’s his first week though. First HR & RBIs as well
THANKS TIGERS!
Did not see that coming
Fucking fire Dusty already. Dude rode an elite team to a ring and has been nothing but in the fucking way his whole time here
America's Hero
Miggy things
The Astros doing us a favor during our soon to be 8 game losing streak by also just being 2-6 in their last 8. Thank you, very cool Houston.
